    Hi Jo,
I will be 43 in November EK! But hey its just number right? Lets keep each others spirits hi, I start my next icsi in around 10days time - this time ill be doing the injections myself as hubby will be away on a fishing trip. I also have registered on a waiting list on the Gold Coast with Dr Michael Flynn for donor embryos not too many of us on the list only around 7 girls - they say usual waiting time is 6-18months and i registered in Feb this year so we always have that up our sleeve if need be, have always been open to adoption so the way i look at donor embies is like adoption just one step closer. I wish you so much luck jo i really do - let me know how you are going .

    Hi, can I join in?

I turned 41 last week and have been TTC for 1 year this time (8.5 unsuccessful years with ex husband). Thanks for the website Lissie I will be sure to look it up. Sometimes I feel so old on here with all the twentysomethings popping up saying they got pg 1st or 2nd try. Two early m/c under my belt (one with each partner). I'm madly trying all sorts of natural things to help things along and have an apt with a gyno who has an interest in infertility in two weeks. I'm not keen for medical intervention but as time is no longer on my side I have had to give in. Last time I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. This time it looks like it might be a hormonal issue. First pg took 3 years to achieve (and only happened after coming off clomid) , 2nd one only 9 months with just old fashioned bding and hoping for the best. I'm thinking 3rd time lucky!!!!!

    Hi Satya and welcome!

I am trying natural as well to regulate hormones- what are you trying? I have done hours of web research and found Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs have a good result as well as Vitex. I have been off coffee, tea, alcohol and eat low GI healthy foods, purified water etc. I hope it works!

    Hi Satya,
The more the merrier - so nice to here like jo said that their are a few of us oldies still hanging in there - its funny you do begin to feel really old when you see all these lovely young ladies fullfilling their dreams - hey lets not give up we are still in the running - i guess we are like the snails in the race but we will get there eventually - i wish you so much luck on your journey - IVF has been a savior to me as i had no other option - wish i could do it naturally but hey gotta do what you gotta do to get what you want. The only natural part of my therapy is chiropractic (gentle kind no twisting or crunching) it is supposed to help with fertility issues - it basically frees up the nerves that connect to everyting and help all organs work better. Good luck girls - lets keep in touch.

    Hi ladies,

I am on Vitex too. I fell pg within a month of starting to take it. Unfortunately I m/c at 5 wks 4 days. I am also on a range of B vitamins including folic acid & a multi vitamin.

I have eliminated coffee & cola from my diet. I've been off them for about 6 months. I drink small amounts of tea and have just taken up drinking 1 to 2 cups of green tea per day (but will stop the minute I suspect I may be pg). The green tea is supposed to do wonders for female fertility but only in moderation.

I have been trying to eliminate trans fats from my diet as new research shows that this can cause infertility in women. This is not easy to do as heaps of things have it in it.... particularly junk food. My DF is a junk food addict so I do sometimes give in to it even though I know I shouldn't.... one of the hazards of being with a younger man.

This cycle I have started to drink 1 cup of pineapple juice per day after Oing. Apparently this helps with implantation - although some sites say you shouldn't have it at all cos it can cause contractions so once again I will have to stop if I think I could be pg. Am also having low dose aspirin once per day again to aid with implantation. I will probably only do this til about 10DPO as they say that can cause problems if you m/c. If that doesn't work this cycle I doubt I'll bother again unless I'm told to by a doctor.

As I'm running out of time due to the age factor my DF & I are getting heaps of encouragement from friends and family about TTC. If anything some of them have been pushing for me to see a doctor before we leave it too late. They are now happy that I am about to see a gyno... should keep them quiet for a while.

    Hi Girls,
If you like to drink tea (de cafe tea) there is one i have been put onto by my cousin and sister in law - i can only seem to buy it at woolworths but you may have more luck in the cities - its called Furmosa (i think thats how you spell it) its really nice tastes just like real tea actually i prefer it to real tea, its not a tea bag its a brewing leaf but its de caf and natural and i have served it to people unknowing and they have commented what nice tea . I don't really like herbel teas to much and most decaf tea tastes like soapy water i find. The tea comes in a blue and white box i think.
I do have a friend who is now pregnant (24wks) with her second child (IVF) she is now 47yrs old- its taken her 6m/c one still birth but she got there eventually and just keeps saying to me "keep going as long as you can handle it - its sooo worth it" . Good luck to us all.

    Hi Ladies!!!

Just wanted to pop in here and let you know one of my students mums (I teach piano) had her first baby at 37, second baby at 42, and is due any time now to give birth to her third baby at almost 45.
Both her & DH tried to have children when they were in their early 30's, but she said it just never seemed to happen back then.
Her DH is going to be 52 this year.

Just thought I would add this little story in here for encouragment - It can only help

Good Luck to all of you xxx

most decaf tea tastes like soapy water i find.
    Thanks Lissie,
I bought a box of Dilmah decaf tea, and i just don't find it tastes like tea. It's bland and, no matter how long you brew it for, is never strong enough.
Seems like a waste, but i might give up on it an try the one you suggest.

    Hey Girls,
Has anyone found a drinkable decaf coffee? Coffee is one thing i do miss but a good cup of decaf wouldn't go astray!

I'm not too much of a coffee snob, so i don't mind instant.
I tried Nescafe decaf but didn't think it had a great taste.
Now i drink Moccona Classic decaf. It has a blue label. It doesn't taste the same as Moccona Classic normal, but i still think it tastes OK.

    Hi Lissie,

Probably not very helpful (ir maybe it is ), but my FS, GP & chinese herbalist all say that de-caf coffee is no better than normal coffee... apparently the de-caf tea is better than normal tea, but with coffee, its just the same???!!!!!

I just got to a point where I would have a full strength coffee only if I went out (to meet a girlfriend at a cafe etc), but apart from that, just didn't drink it at all otherwise.
This meant I was having a coffee approx once a week, which apparently is harmless.
When I am on cycle, I just don't have any.

The other substitute my NP suggested was the mixer coffees (Like the Jarrah coffees - Swiss, Brazil, etc).
Apparently they have minimal amounts of caffeine, as they are mainly the powder of the mixer, eg cocoa, vanilla, etc which she said is fine.
If you drink them without milk or sugar, they are also fat free - 0 points on weight watchers, so its an added bonus!!!

I started drinking the swiss one of these - I only allow myself one a day.
It did take a while (headaches, etc) to get used to no coffee, but if we want these babies bad enough, its amazing where we find the strength to stop what we need to!!!!

    Love Holly

How wierd Holly. You think you are being good - and then get another kick in the pants!
Oh well, i only have one decaf coffee a day - and I am sooooo painfully good about everything else - i think i'll just keep drinking it!! Naughty me!
