Hi ladies,
I'm a LTTTC'er and would love to jump on for some weight loss motivation if that's ok
I've been doing weight watchers online for about 6 weeks and I feel like I've lost a little bit. I have to admit though, I haven't been brave enough to get on the scales! I just lose weight so slowly that I don't want to get discouraged. I need to lose at least 12kg. If this and next IUI cycles are not successful, I have an appt with a different FS in early Feb to discuss the "next step", probably IFV. I've heard that he can be pretty brutal if you're overweight (eek!). So I'd really like to lose as much as I can by then - for the appointment and myself.
myturn- if you like to read, is there any exercise you can do while reading? Ex bike etc? I've been taping shows off foxtel, then not letting myself watch them unless I'm on the treadmill. Gotta be cruel to be kind
kerbear - when will you start your next IVF cycle? What's your weight loss timeline?
Also, I was wondering - What sort of exercise does everyone else do during the 2ww? I jog (a little) during the first half of my cycle but am too scared to do anything but walking during the 2ww.
you are welcome to join us I hope we can support you with your journey. I have done the reading thing while on the exercise bike - but ATM bike is in storage because we are renovating. I know I just need to 'do it' but I can't seem to find the motivation - Oh i have just heard michelle bridges in my head saying "there is no such thing as finding motivation" I read some article on facebook that she wrote and it was interesting to read that she doesn't enjoy exercise either - hmmm.... feeling some interest in getting on my bike and riding down to the shops to drop off the blue ray discs... maybe I'll do that after Dr Phil finishes
instead of weight watchers how about just counting calories? It's much more accurate and after a while you'll start to understand portion sizes all on your own instead of needing a multinational company to do it for you !
I've been using my fitness pal for over a year. Some days (ok xmas to new years week!) are harder than others but it really does help you understand exactly how efficient the human body is. It really doens't need all that much food!!
As for motivation. bleh. I hear ya. I tried to go out for a walk last night while hubby watched the news (they never report anything important so I've gotten bored with watching it) but the cat curled up on me for once. So this morning I got the unpowered mower out that my MIL let me borrow and did the front lawn then did some weeding.
myturn, rather than hopping on the bike why not walk? Walking burns more than a bike since it requires more out of your body. Of course if you need low impact for joints go with the bike, I can totally understand that. My physio said because I have hypermobility in my joints I need to be very careful with running (I do ballet instead).
Can any of you do a little light stretching while watching tv? situps, yoga if you know it? I'll do some of my barre exercises while cooking, or even while brushing my teeth. try and find a few more ways you can move your body during every day activities.
Thanks guys,
myturn - I definitely don't enjoy exercise either even though I always feel better afterwards! I find if exercise is the first thing I do in the morning, there's no time to find an excuse not to. I know that's not always possible with schedules tho. I hope to hear later that you went down the shops in some active way- no pressure!!
Neda - thanks for the advice I have an ok knowledge of nutrition and have done lots of calorie counting in the past (I'm a bit OCD about recording things!!). The thing with weight watchers is I kind of think if I'm spending the money, I'd better use it, stick to it and not waste the cash! I might try a free calorie counting app and ww together for a week and see what I like
It's great you've found exercise you like in ballet!
I think weight watchers has an app actually. I downloaded it at some time. Didn't use it but I'm sure it exists :-)
Yes I DID walk down to the shops and walked home a longer way.
Used my heart rate monitor and didn't need to exert myself as much as I thought to get the heart rate up at the level needed which was good. When I do PT I always feel that THAt is what exercise is supposed to feel like. But I think I need to just go with a light walk every day is better. Although I have planter fasciatis (spelling?) so if I do too much weight bearing exercise my feet are in so much pain! I've been barefoot a lot of the last week and really feeling it. Back to wearing shoes for a while I think.
Anyway. My personal trainer cancelled or tonight and I'm going in the morning instead so I waxed my eyebrows, put on a face mask and had a shower and am feeling a bit better. Will see what tomorrow brings. Thanks ladies I really need help I'm driving myself crazy and sabotaging every effort.
Wow! the more i read in here the more i realise that we are going through the same struggles more or less ) and it helped !! i need to lose weight too... i went on a diet two years ago and lost 15 kilos... before i started TTC i was weighing 65kg which for me is THE ideal weight but since my LAP, with meds and emotional strain i've gained it all back... now as the holidays are over i'm trying to gain control over my eating habits.. i need to lose at least 10 kg... what motivates me:
1. make one small goal at a time
2. focus on eating healthy rather than dieting or starving... or else i'll eat more
3. find interesting recipes from the net and modify... makes it more interesting
4. and plan ahead... (this is the most difficult part!)
well, good luck ladies... i hope we can help and motivate each other )
myturn - you seem right on track with walking today and personal trainer tomorrow. Gold star for you, ha ha! I understand how foot pain would make the idea of exercise unappealing. How did the healthy eating go?
ineedpixiedust - I can totally relate. I lost weight in early 2011, then had a lap & d&c in July, then moved house and didn't have a kitchen for 2 months. My weight just went up and up. I love your 4 motivators, especially planning ahead, that really works. At least you can repeat what you did last time and hopefully there'll be no surgery this year to trip you up!
Today was pretty good for me, walked this morning and ate healthy during the day because I knew my partner wanted tacos for dinner (I only had 1!). I find I'm pretty good with exercising (jog or walk most days) but healthy eating and healthy snacking - that's where I need motivation! Isn't it funny how we all so desperately want to lose weight so we can just put it back on again in baby weight some day soon
