Inshell - sorry to hear that it was BFN, sucks big time. Enjoy your wine as it won't be long before you'll be off it for 9 months.
Yogi - hurry up AF!!! Probably one of the only times to want to bring on AF.
Kaybee - hope your doing well there.
Lairdoz - GL with the BTs hope you are on track. Infertility therapy...I'm a big fan of it. I told myself on the last cycle I did that if I wasn't UTD I would buy myself a new pair of shoes as a constellation prize.
Littlemissmoo - Did you ever have problems with getting the right dose of syneral or is it just the uncertain feeling? I sometimes wonder about this myself but I'm being scanned on Thursday so the truth will be known then. for number 4.
Sevie - your a strong person to be in the job you are in whilst going through fertility treatment. I'm in social work and see referrals for children born to drug dependant parents and here I am trying to eat right, think right, act right etc. Life's not fair sometimes.
Terry - I'm not up yet with the ins and outs of FETs but I'm hoping yours will be on track.
Trueblue - all the home made stuff sounds absolutely fabulous. A child will be lucky to have you both as parents.
Babytruj - really sorry to hear about the chemical...that' really crap. Enjoy your break.
Possums - wishing you luck hunnie
Dreamrise - GL for Thursday. It is interesting when you start asking around how many people had problems concieving and did IVF. I've found a few myself when I mentioned my problems. It must be really tough for your friend. I'm sure she understands that you needed some time.
LisaB: aw you made me cry with that comment lol not hard to do atm... thank you
I have had an emotional day am putting it down to having a very very crap nights sleep and having a pregnyl booster yesterday... then I found out that my ex best friend is 3 months preg and she had a misscarraige a few years ago just miffs me a bit.. the worst though for today was saying goodbye to our last puppy who was three months old was so attatched to him I balwed my eyes out. Got to spent alot of quality time with my goddaughter today though which although tired me out i loved every minute of it
There certainly has been a lot happening in here over the past few weeks. Hugs and kisses to everyone.
AFM - I did my first FET on Friday 21 May (which ended up being day 25) as I ovulated really late this cycle. Normally I'm a 28 day cycle however the stim cycle the month before messed with me a bit
Anyway, I'm off to get bloods done tomorrow and I'm pretty sure it will be a BFN. Warning - TMI....I started getting a light brown discharge on Sunday (day 34) and its been like that ever since. Although it did change colour to a more red today. So if AF has arrived, its very very light.
I'm thinking if it is a BFN we might start considering alternative options this month to help support the IVF. Thinking of making a booking to see Zam Martin in Spring Hill. Anyone used her?
Just wondering, I've been tested for all of the major fertility issues (so has DH) and apparently we are fine - can anyone else suggest other tests that I should be asking for?
I'm really worried that FS has overlooked something small and that no matter how many FETs we do, it won't work
Guess I'm just feeling pretty down about the whole thing at the moment.
Inshelligent- you made me lol. I can't agree with you more!! I've talked several times to friends about people's TOP's and the idea of transplants!
Lisa- We get a lot of drug-dependant mother's/babies at my hosp, and women from the classic lower socio-economic multiple fathers story, and it still suprises me that I can be 'just fine' with them...they'd never know I had an issue. Except for when they ask me about having my own children. I general tell them honestly where I'm at, or at least that I do IVF, and hope they can appreciate there fortune even just a little bit.
Dreamrise- thanks for telling your friend's IVF stories, it so very much shows that anything can happen- good and bad! Why couldn't Mother Nature have shared out 'good fertility' fairly??!
Kaybee- didn't you know that you just had to have loads of stress-free holiday rolly-polly to get up the duff?! honestly!
Hi to all the other buds out there, hopeful today was a good one for you.
wow, this thread has been busy. I've been popping in and out and read so much I don't know where to start!
Justina - Good luck with your bloods. The FN stressed to me that even if I got bleeding that didn't mean a negative, especially if it's irregular. Stay positive!! FX'd for you!!
Trueblue - I feel for you, I really do. With so many other things going on right now you have a right to be emotional. Stay strong!
Dreamrise - thanks for sharing those stories. It really puts our own struggles into perspective. that you friend's baby overcomes this hurdle to live a long and healthy life.
Lairdoz - I like the idea of the medicare rebate... I could do with some retail therapy. Thanks for your words on stress. Going into my TWW, It makes me a bit less stressed to hear that it doesn't matter if i'm stressed!!!
Babytruj - I'm sorry to hear that. Enjoy your time away. Make sure you get up to lots of mischief... you never know!
Inshelligent - Sorry about your results. Hope you enjoyed that wine! Good luck for your FETs!
I know i've missed a thousand people, and I hope all of you are well. Good luck with everything you are doing.
AFM - ET DAY!! 6 embies made it to this stage. So I guess 6 is my new lucky number?? To tell you the truth, I was a bit upset when they said only 6. I guess it's the hormones?? I'm really feeling the progesterone, but I was wondering, does OHSS go away straight after the egg collection? I have been sore and I can feel my ovaries aching... strange! I've got 3 days of bed rest planned and DH has agreed to wait on me hand and foot... so sweet. I'm gonna give this little embie a very comfortable home to burrow into!!
MiniMe, good to hear 6 embies made it this far! FX transfer goes perfectly today! As far as I know, OHSS usually sets in a few days after EPU (early onset) or a few days before a BFP (late onset). I know it can also happen earlier, but I think these are the two most typical scenario as it is usually the hcg (from trigger for early onset or pregnancy for late onset) that sets it off. I'm usually pretty bloated for a few days after EPU and I did get that bloat return a few days before my beta, but I haven't had full blown OHSS (thankfully).
Justina, I had light bleeding (red and then brown) last week for two days before my beta and was sure I was out. Turns out it was implantation. Try not to give up before you get your blood test done. I hope you get the result you want today! Which Spring Hill are you talking about? There's a few in Australia. If you're in Brisbane then I go to Jenny Byrne at East West Fertility at Ashgrove. She's pretty highly regarded and I have been very impressed with her. I haven't heard anything about a clinic at Spring Hill, but that doesn't mean anything.
Hi all
Im so sorry want to do persies but I just havent got the time and have struggled to ctah up - there is so much going on in here.
To Babytruj and others that have had difficult news and BFN's - im so sorry and feeling for you - big group hug. Hang in there and keep trying - we can all do it!!
Hi to the newbies and wishing you all the very best!
To all those currently waiting - fingers and toes crossed for you all. And GL to those jabbing sniffing etc.
AFM ~ Have just ovulated about 6 days ago and have been getting hopes up because Ive had some strange tummy pains, back and neck pain (same as what I had with last BFP) and a lot of mucous (sorry TMI). So Im hoping but trying not to get too excited. Guess I'll be testing after the weekend - dont think i'll be able to help myself but I'll see how strong I can be.
Big hugs everyone and sending out lots of babydust and stickyvibes!!!
xoxo
lairdoz I think your clinic is right ovulation day is coounted as zero. Don't stress they know what they are doing I too have been confused in the past
Kaybee what an amazing story fancy being pregnant and not knowing it I'm thinking quite a few of us in here would love to be in that position
Loops good luck and I pray AF stays away and all the weird things you have been feeling are you little one snuggling in for the next nine months
Justina so sorry this wasn't your month glad to hear that you already have a plan and are moving forward. Just remember though to take some time for yourself and let all your emotions out before you start
LMM I don't think a drink on the weekend will harm your eggs remeber they take months to form and then get to this stage so a drink now want make any difference and plus my acupunturist said that its ok to have the occasional drink in moderation if it makes you feel better. We cant deprive ourselves of everything
AFM had another scan this morning and am doing a trigger tonight. My FS doesn't want to wait for natural ovualtion as last month it took ages and she feels that may have contributed to my negative result. I have my FET scheduled for Tuesday doing some more acupunture tomorrow and then I'll be on asprin and pressaries after transfer. Feeling good about this one DH gets to come for once so maybe everything is finally aligning for me
Hello there Lairdoz - the few fets i have done is as you say ovulation day is called 0 then count from there and have transfer on either 3 or 5 days after that. but maybe they are going to thaw the embryo on the tuesday and give it a day to grow a bit more before transfer on wed, not sure? But anyway congrats that all systems are go!! am sure all will be fine and will be crossing everything that this cycle is THE ONE! good luck
Hello everyone,
I have been reading over the posts and I must say, I am surprised at how many people out there have been on a long road TTC and you don't realise it is so common.
To know of others going through the similar situations, make it that little bit easier and knowing that there are people out there to talk to about what you are going through, even though each case is similar, it is still different for each person, the level of support that is on BB is amazing and gives you the strength not to give up.
Thank you in advance for all of your knowledge and advice that I know you guys will give over time.
I look forward to seeing you around BB
Take care
Nicole
Oh well, I'm officially out again this cycle Got a BFN on my BT yesterday.
It was a hard morning for me yesterday - burst into tears as soon I was back in the car after having my bloods done at QFG. Poor hubby didn't know what to do.
I think I already knew the results and felt really overwhelmed by the whole process.
Anyway, that was last cycle and I'm now looking to the future for this cycle.
So I've now decided to start acupuncture and try some Chinese herbs. I met up with Zam yesterday afternoon and she was lovely
We had a big chat about my history and she has started me on herbs and acupuncture to address stress and sex hormones (kidney), as well as herbs to help with sleep and my cycles (apparently your liver contributes to that).
So here is a list of what I'm taking:
Omega 3 (2 tablets) each morning
Mexican Valerian (1x morning and night)
Premular (1 x morning)
And 8 mls (morning and night) of a very horrible tasting liquid mix of echinacea, elecampane, bupleurum, eyebright and marshmallow.
I'll also be doing acupuncture once a week.
Here's hoping this helps.
All the very best to all the lovely ladies in their TWW - have everything crossed for you.
I'll pop back for an update in the next few days on how the herbs are going.
Thanks again for all of the advice - its much appreciated
Juniper - hope you are doing well. I think I've had to pay previously because I was doing OI. Wow, the crinone will be included that's great I was factoring in $200 for that.
Trueblue - 7 days and counting. I hope the days fly past. It sounds like the will as you are busy.
Yogi - I agree, I try and break it all down to stages that I have to pass to get to the next. I also think stress is part and parcel of LT TTC, unfortunately. Hurry up AF!
Minime - congratulations on having such a great blastie. 50% chance is great. That's so much more than a woman doing it the natural way. Hopefully this will be it for you!!
Loops - GL as you head towards testing.
Kaybee - I know what you mean about wanting to give anything a go. I've tried so many different things before getting to IVF. I've changed shampoo, stopped painting my nails, tried a feng shui clean, acupuncture and a naturopath. The naturopath gave me a lot of advice like eat more greens, and egg almost everyday, add fruit to my diet (I'm vegetarian and I also dont really like fruit), oh and heaps more suggestions. The main thing these days is really to touch base and let her know where I'm up to and to pick up more pills. She changed my tonic now that I'm on IVF and gave me an extra tablet. She's nice to talk to and a really lovely person. In relation to other tests, I basically demanded tests all up front. I researched them and told my FS what I want to be tested for. My FS was agreeable but felt they were unnecessary. I'm glad I did them even though they were all negative, at least I have some peace of mind.
Lairdoz - sorry hun, I don't know the procedure for FETs as yet. GL I'm sure it will all work out.
Nicole - welcome and GL with your journey.
Justina - sorry to hear about the BFN...not fair! I agree the herbal tonics are horrid. I slug mine back in minimal water so it just one mouthful to skull.
AFM: Just about to watch my Gonal DVD and do the injection. I'm transferring from puregon so not too stressed about the injection.
Justina - So sorry to hear about your BFN, it never gets any easier does it. I always give myself a consolation bottle of wine & lots of chocolate, I find a glass just won't cut it! I done acupuncture with my last cycle but I'm not bothering this time around due to costs. Also, I did find some of the insertion of the needles quite painful & uncomfy didn't find it relaxing at all.
Minime - Fingers crossed for you
Lairdoz - I always find with my clinic for a FET the transfer takes place 6 days after trigger
Yogi- Why does AF never behave itself & always does the opposite of what you want her to do!!
Loops - How amazing would it be to get a natural BFP, fingers & toes crossed for you
AFM Had my first follicle scan today. Bit dissapointed seems I'm on go slow. I only have one egg that is at 1.5 & all the rest are still only at 1.0. I do remember last time that I was slow to start but then seemed to catch up so not going to stress about it & will just wait & see. I'm guessing I'll have my next scan on Tuesday but the clinic will call me tomorrow to confirm. I'm also very frustrated as my clinic opened a little 'subclinic' literally less than five minutes drive away where I could go for my blood tests and scans but when I went in today the manager informed me that tomorrow is their last day of operation & I'll have to go back to travelling up to the city!!! The lady that runs it is moving to Thailand & they have no one else to run it. Dam it, back to leaving at 05:40 to drive to the city so I can beat the rush hour.
Also quick question, whilst everyone is on the drugs do you do anything different?? We're staying with friends on the weekend & we usually have quite a few wines. I've always still had a glass whilst i'm doing the drugs but because I had such poor egg quality last time not sure if I should or not. Has anybody heard of having a drink effecting the quality of your eggs???
Hi Ladies
Thanks once again for your wishes. Unfortunately I couldnt resist - I think im a serial POAS'er now LOL. It was BFN - 10 dpo approx so maybe a bit early. I'll wait until AF due now and see what happens. Wont spend anymore money on HPT's until AF is late. Im still feeling weird and have had a lot of extra mc - so not giving up just yet for this cycle.
Kaybee ~ thanks heaps! GL and Are you nearly at BT or just starting the cycle?
Lairdoz ~ Sorry Ive never had a FET but im sure your docs know what's best - try not too stress I guess and GL hun, everything goes to plan.
Dreams into Reality ~ Hi and This is a great thread to be in, all of the ladies are so supportive and friendly. GL for your upcoming IVF, hope it comes round quick.
Littlemiss ~ Hoping those follies get better for you - sounds like they will and just need a bit of time. All the best hun, GL. I also would like to know if there is anything out there to say we shouldnt or can drink whilst on hormone injections, ive quite often wondered the same thing.
Justina ~ So sorry about your BFN - big hugs hun. Glad you can have another try so soon. You'll get there.
Lisa B ~ Good luck with the jabbing, you'll find it easy after a few. All the best for the cycle!
I'd love to know what tests I should be asking for as I had my appointment with the IVF clinic on Thursday and told the nurse I think I should have more tests done (I've only ever had the STD, rubella and hormone level blood tests - no internal tests etc). Anyway the nurse told me that the Doctor has reviewed my case and he doesn't think I need to worry about any other tests yet - but the problem is that I can't afford to try again after this next attempt and I'm not sure I want to waste my money trying now if my chance of success is going to be no different to last time.
Apparently he has me down for an antagonist cycle this time... so when I get my next period (this one just finished last weekend) I will start on the pill for 3 weeks and then after that pill period I will start on injections (no synarel this time). She told me that Synarel can reduce egg quality... any one else heard of this?
I was told they won't increase my dose of gonal-F as I had a good number of follicles and eggs last time (12 eggs) but only 3 fertilized and only 1 developed. Apparently they believe this is due to my egg quality! So I'm not sure that it is worth wasting more money... I don't understand if I have poor egg quality (I'm only 36) then isn't it only going to get worse with age? So maybe I should give up now before I'm completely broke.
I find my clinic extremely frustrating as they don't want to answer any questions. They just say "The doctor has reviewed your case and this is what he has written" or "Well he has reviewed your file and he hasn't requested any tests" or "The doctor would have written in your file if he felt it would help"! I've only ever seen the "Doctor" twice in 22 months of going to the clinic. Seems like he (as the owner of the clinic) is raking in a ton of money and hardly doing any work for it.
On top of all this I turn 37 this month and last year I had vowed to stop trying by the end of last year and then when I decided to keep trying early this year I had vowed I would stop before my birthday. So I'm feeling very frustrated and lost and just don't know whether to quit, sell my farm and hit the road and live the sort of lifestyle I wouldn't have been able to have with a baby (so atleast maybe I won't feel so bad about failing).
Then last night I got a text message from my brother's wife to say she is pregnant (due in august). She said in her message they decided not to tell anyone until they were sure it would be okay as they lost a baby at 22 weeks gestation a few years ago. I know how much that loss hurt them but I just felt so angry reading her message as they already have 6 kids and they are both on welfare. they both smoke heaps of pot and when the youngest two were babies she didn't even look after them... nighttime feeds were left up to my brother and the daytime looking after was done by the older children. I remember visiting one time and the 4 year old was left to give the baby it's bottle while the mum smoked a bong in the "smoke room". It just seems so unfair that they can keep spitting out kids and they don't even properly look after the ones they have! I guess I just have to hope that mabye having lost the other baby might make them appreciate this one more. But I can't be happy for them and I don't think I could cope with seeing her pregnant (certainly not at the moment). I saw her a few weeks ago and now reflecting back she looked like she had put on some weight but I didn't realise she was pregnant. Apparently now it is becoming obvious so that is another reason they have decided to start telling people. She invited us to attend the youngest birthday party in a couple of weeks but I can't go... I just won't be able to act happy and excited for them because I'm not.
I realise my parents must have known for ages and I feel weird about that too... they knew and would have heard me ***** about how unfair it is that my sister in law has spat out so many kids and doesn't look after them and here she was pregnant again and my parents just bit their tongue. I guess it would have been very hard for mum and dad because they knew I was going through IVF.
Sorry everyone... just had to share with someone and I knew you would probably be able to relate to how I'm feeling.
Lori
DD (13)
Started donor search Dec 06, Started donor insemination Jan 09, Started IVF Feb 10. 1st cycle - chem preg - BFN.
No Justina, that's just not fair. You are inspiring in how positive you are being about it all though. You seem determined to not let that crappy bfn get in your way. Hope your herbs and acu get everything working perfectly for this next cycle.
Loops - like everyone else has said, it might still be too early to know. Guess it's better to not get hopes up for any longer than necessary though. I won't uncross everything just yet
Trueblue - not long to go and all sounding VERY promising!
Terry - Looks like it could be your month! It feels so much more, I dunno, 'right' when DH can be there for ET. Can I ask what you have to take the aspirin for after ET?
LMM - how frustrating that they've closed your subclinic - couldn't they just wait till you finish this cycle and get your BFN? I don't know for sure on the drinking thing, but surely if everyone else can drink, smoke, etc, etc and have healthy eggs and pregnancies then I would think it'd be fine.
Lori - sounds like you are pretty low right now. My brother's wife is also pregnant and due the exact same week I was due (before mc a couple of months ago). I feel really awful but I don't want to see them and we have all these family do's coming up. Everyone keeps saying to me 'wow you must be so happy you're going to be an aunty again'. I don't know the 'right' way to deal with these feelings but I know they are my feelings and they're real and if I ignore them they'll get worse. So far whenever I've seen them I've managed to get through somehow, but have spent the next day/night crying. So, I'm feeling your pain mate! Your FS sounds a bit like mine (no, mine's not that bad) but whenever I have an appointment he's just really chirpy and tells me to be positive - I don't have a problem with that advice, and despite how I may sound on here, I am fairly positive - it's just that from him I want answers and explanations (or at least tests) and if I need cheering up I'll talk to a friend/DH/a counseller or BB friends!
God I ramble on and haven't even gotten to me - nothing much happening with me yet - only taking one estradiol pill each night until scan next week to look at my hopefully lovely thick endometrium. Don't think my first acupuncture did its job at relaxing me - I came home and had an argument with DH straight away - hmmm, not a good start
Thanks for that Sevie, i feel a lot better now! Yeah i had my AMH done was 10.8. i knew it would be lowish cause i only get about 3 or 4 eggs each collection (i'm 35 years young) Anyone else had their AMH tested, how does that compare? not sure what it all means really. i've been on the dhea for about 8 months now so maybe that is helping? dunno, am just trying to not think about it too much cause at the end of the day the body's gonna do what the body wants to do and there aint much we can really do about it!!...except keep praying for a miracle
will be back tomorrow, i have a lot of catching up to do on here and feeling a tad sleepy (am too old to be out partying on a sat night, how sad!!)
goodnight sleeptight
