i'm doing ok today - thanks for asking Mako.

spent some time with family yesterday arvo, and then just spent time doing nothing at all this morning. my folks wanted me to come over tonight for a while, but i'm hot, and still haven't slept anywhere near enough, so think i might call it a night pretty early (well, that's the plan anyway) - things are already getting messy within the family - my dad has three siblings, 2 of whom had nothing much to do with my nan in at least the last 6 or seven years - his sister has already come along demanding items of nan's jemewllery, and telling everyone what they will be doing with nan's funeral (thankfully, nan had a pretty good idea that this would happen, so pre-planned and pre-paid for her funeral - so no one has any say in it!) - spent half an hour last night calming my dad down about the whole thing. he has a bad temper at the best of times, so it was interesting! pretty much told him that the only time he'd have to deal face to face with his siblings (well, the two he hasn't spoken to since i was a baby) is at the funeral - and if he lets them get to him to the point where he fights back, he's only showing a lack of respect himself - and is that what he wants? said everything else in terms of Nan's estate can be settled by solicitors so there won't have to be any dealings at all. (he also had a very painful wisdom tooth out yesterday, so i told him if he misbehaved, i'd have to clip him around the ears, and i'd make sure it was on the side where his tooth come out of!). DH and i went through a messy legal hoo ha when his brother passed away 20 months ago - and i know that when emotions are high, things can get out of control - so it's kinda fallen back on me, my brother and our repsective partners to play "bouncers" through it all. we've basically agreed "this isn't the time or place" will be the standard line to anyone causing issues - followed closely by "have a little respect for your mother" and "grow up". i would normally hang around to be supportive of family after the service, and will for a little while, but i'm really not interested in being thrown into the middle of a catfight, so i'll leave pretty early - i only hope all of the "adults" can play nice for a few hours out of repect for my nan and pop (though i know dad's sister will treat Pop like cr@p - he's nan's second husband, and even thought they've been married over 22 years, she won't accept him into the family and treats him as an annoyance rather than a member of the family....... she even stopped talking to nan a few years back when they were in a car accident and nan refused to divorce pop - "he was driving, so he's at fault - you have to leave him cos he almost killed you" - sorry, she's a cow and i really dislike her for so many things she's done...)

ok, vent over. time to go wake DH and work out what we're doing for tea (he's been such a sweetie with everything the last few weeks that i sent him and my brother fishing in bro's boat this morning at half four, then sent him off to catch up on sleep when he got home... i wouldn't have coped the last month or three without him supporting me as much as he has, and i guess this was my way of thanking him)

again, thanks for checking up on me Mako - i'm doing ok today - tomorrow - who know's? should find out tomorrow when my surgery is going to be. just one thing after another at the moment... roll on next month - hopefully that's when the good stuff starts! though i'm trying to look at every day as a new beginning, so maybe it's gonna be good stuff sooner...
