Thanks Kazz! I just want to get through the first trimester, then I'll really celebrate. Have a three-week teaching round coming up which should help some of the time pass quickly... I'm feeling pretty tired already, but that may just be because DS has been sleeping really badly.

Good luck with this round of clomid - I'll be waiting for you to join me soon.

Hi ladies just to keep you posted af has arrived.....a mixed bag of emotions I guess. I couldnt resist and did a test last night and as normal it tempted fate. I think maybe after 7months of nothing I was ready for a clear out.
But hey....now onwards and upwards with fresh eggs, lets see if the next cycle can be more successful

Kazz - hopefully number 3 will prove lucky for us both.

    Hi kristie,
Sorry you're feeling so sad at the moment. I know it can get hard when others seem to get pg so easily and others of us don't. Its just the way it is though and for me I just hope that this is the only bit of bad luck that DH and I have in our lives. I was just saying to my DH yesterday that it doesn't seem fair that we have to go through all this. Friends of ours just had their no. 2 yesterday and both of them have some serious health problems and are on some hefty medications but they still managed to conceive both times very easily. DH and I are health conscious and healthy and yet we need assistance - admitedly its just cos of me though. I think you've just got to know that you'll get there in the end if you want it enough and you'll treasure your special baby all the more.

Regarding your Metformin - are you under the care of a FS or just a GP? If you're not seeing a FS then I would recommend you get a referral. If you are seeing a FS then I think perhaps you need to ask some more questions and take control yourself - you may even be better off changing FS if you're not happy with how you're being managed.

Have you been diagnosed with PCOS? From what I've read Metformin is used to help control insulin levels and this can help with some forms of PCOS where the condition is worsened by insulin resistance. Has this all been properly investigated for you? Some PCOS is not associated with insulin resistance. If this is the case for you then the Metformin won't work and you'll need the Clomid to make you O. If you've been on the Metformin for 8 weeks now and no O then maybe its not going to work for you. Me, I've had very looooooong cycles and my FS picked up a few small cysts on my ovaries when she did an U/S. To make me O she's put me on Clomid. I don't have PCOS and I don't have an insulin problem so Metformin was never going to do anything for me.

Hope you feel better soon and good luck with the next step in your TTC journey

    Hi ladies.....
After reading Kristie's blog, I thought I had to write something...... I realise it probably wont help but we all have those moments and you cant dwell on them because they can cause serious damage.

A friend who got married on the same day as us, must have fallen pregnant on her honeymoon and now has a bouncing boy and my darkest moment was when i met an old colleague in the street who told me she was 4 months pregnant and rubbed my stomach and asked how i was going. I couldnt say I was happy for her and just walked away and burst into tears.....that was my moment...the one that made me realise..i threw out my ovulation charts and I haven't bought an OPK since. I cant go back to that, I didnt like what I had become.

There is no reason or rhyme as to who or why this happens....we just have to accept our lot and let it go....and trust that if it is meant to be..it will be....and of course we can try to help it along and maybe take out shares in the pharmaceutical companies!!!

    Hi everyone,

Lismith25, I get where your coming from, sometimes our reactions surprise us when we are confronted with other peoples pregnancies and baby stories.....
I have a friend who gave birth to fraternal twins 5 months ago.....she was bragging about having it all over and done with in one hit..... well, that kind of hurt because I have one little boy and we've been trying to get pregnant ever since and can't......I hadn't told her of my inability to conceive at that stage....My reaction was to say I couldn't cope with two at once and felt blessed to just have one....That must have sounded a bit spiteful to her and I only realised I'd said it after i'd blurted it out...... I later found out off her partner that they had been trying for a year to get pregnant, something that she conveniently left out of our conversations......makes me wonder if she did have a bit of help in the trying to conceive department, because she's always saying it was natural....why would you bother....

Anyway I've vented too now......it's good to get it off your chest....

I hope everyone in this thread gets a BFP, because we all deserve it 10 times over......

    Kazz

    Hi girls
Mind if I join in? I'm a lurker in these threads but am feeling quite fed up today.
I am on my 8th cycle of clomid (only 25mg but seems to work) but have been told that you shouldn't do more than 6months by my natropath. Has anyone heard this before as well??
I am concerned that if I go off it I won't ovulate at all!! Am starting to think about IVF but am doing another cycle of clomid and IUI this month and see how we go. Have nearly had enough of doing the same thing over and over though and starting to think I might need to try something different.
    Any ideas?
BTW, totally understand about pregnant friends, relatives etc. They seem to be everywhere at the moment. What's going on?? Baby boom!!??
    See yas

    welcome all newbies...
Kate -I had heard that after 12 months you a higher risk group for ovarian cancerwhich is why it isnt recommended to go beyond that....I myself am on 50mg and was given repeat prescription for the full 12 months....but it is my Gyno's opionion that clomid is pretty effective and should work well before that. My next meeting with him iF we have not had a bfp is in Nov when I will be in my 6th cycle and we will re-evaluate our plan of attack. But here's hoping it wont get to that

Anyways im at cd15 at the moment and am feeling good so Im taking that as a sign all is well down south and hopefully my is just around the corner...so for everyone, lets hope August is a good month for us all.

Kazz -how are you doing...it must be blood test time already???
Alicia - have you found out if clomid worked for you yet??
MGM - hope things are still looking good for you
