Thanks for asking everyone. Well I was right I haven't yet ovulated. My follie is now 30mm which is one big follicle! My lining is still good and because the follicle has continued to grow, the risk of the egg being too mature isn't an issue. So, it was well worth the trip.
My opk's are quite dark today not a true positive but I expect they will be by tomorrow. I have just rung the gorgeous Jodie at Lullaby and she has posted me some more express.
Kirsten had run out in her surgery but she says she recommends testing twice a day around expected ovulation as some women can miss the surge... I know that's what the opk folk say but I hadn't heard an obs say that before so that was interesting...
Debbie - I would never tell you to shut up!!!!
But just because you are on clomid doesn't mean you will ovulate. Also when a follie has ripened and stays at a certian size the egg
inside that follie has the potential to be too mature and therefore unable to be fertilised. Also, serophene or clomid has it's side affects. One of them is preventing the endometrium having adequate *thickness* . This happens after using the clomid monthly and sometimes starts to rear it's head at around 3months. (sometimes earlier and often later). Some FS recommend only 3 months on clomid then a rest of a month and then recommencing. Others will monitor regularly to check that the endometrium is achieving a thickness greater than about 10mm. This we know is enough to ensure healthy implantation can be achieved.
Also given my age my risk of the clomid adversley affecting my endometrium are higher.
For this reason I need to optimise my chances of conception each month on it. For me, I am not prepared to artificially stimulate my ovaries and then not know weather it's gonna work. My obs (bless her cotton socks) isn't either. She is a strong believer in close monitoring to ensure a good outcome. So the goal is to get pregnant in that 3 month period. I will have my prog level done 7 days after ovulation just to check that the progesterone is up around 50ish. I also have the added issue of my obs being away from the 22nd of Dec until the 22nd of Jan - so we have to know what the clomid is doing to my body so that I can monitor myself next month.
So, I am not stressed - but by it's very nature this cycle needs to be tracked quite closely. As my obs said if that follie was still at 22 cms as it was on Friday we would be worried that that egg inside was a little over cooked! My obs has asked me to keep her posted about my opk's and if tomorrow isn't positive I have to go back on WEdnesday. However, we are both feeling pretty confident that it will have *hatched* by then!
How are YOU going? What are you up to with your cycle? How have you been finding the clomid? I think of you often - it's good to *see* you in here...
WillowI hope this period is your last for a long time...
Emmydee: It is very accurate to say that clomid can make ovulation later in some women. I am a woman who on a natural cyle ovulates at around cd17-18. It seems that's what will happen for me this month but my first clomid cycle I ovulated on cd21. That is why we increased my doseage from 50mgs to 100mgs.
KtGirl: I hope your bath does the trick...
Mako: I don't mind being stalked. It's really nice to know you have been thinking of me... Thankyou my sweet...
I hope everyone else is great. I will pop back later...
