I'm currently reading a book on PCOS by an Australian doctor - it's great, I'm finding out lots of stuff that I didn't know before, but it's also confirmed for me that the gynecologist I was seeing (I refuse to go back at all!) is a complete ass! It appears that he's done enough reading to know that metformin is useful in treating PCOS, but not enough to know that it needs to be at a higher dose for PCOS than it is for type II diabetes... I'm increasing my dose tonight, and then we'll see what happens, may need another increase later on as well. I feel very informed right now, very empowered by learning about my condition and how it should be managed... That's gotta be a good thing!
