I'd recommed chiro if anything Tash - 19.5 weeks and still no SPD here. Having had it from 4 weeks with DD2 - its nothing short of a miracle. I was on weekly treatments for about 4 months though.

OMG I went to the pregnancy expo, was A-OK until I got into the car to drive home. by the time I got home, I was unable to move. Still can't, but worryingly the pain has moved from the left lower back to the right lower back. zconsidering waking husband to get panadol...

Definately get panadol. Also grab an ice pack. The pain truly sucks. I hope you feel better soon but I'd take it easy over the weekend. Don't push through it.

Yup. Mine was really bad at the end of my pregnancy with Eden, but I didn't start chiro until she was about 3 months old.

NP Kazbah - I couldn't sleep anyway I hope you can rest up today and tomorrow.

Has anyone used a TENS for SPD? I used it during birth and found it really helped, but hadn't thought about using it for SPD. I imagine it would be a bit of a nuisance in daily life but might be helpful in extreme cases. Just planning ahead....

Tashybabe - I looked into using a TENS for SPD as there's a company in east brighton who's website mentions electrodes for SPD. When I spoke to both my normal physio & women's health physio they both seemd to think it wouldn't be of much use, and had there been any studies showing it would be helpful. I didn't end up trying it, but hey, how many studies on SPD are there anyway? So i guess I took that advice with a grain of salt. Re treatment prior, well I was seeing my osteo regularly prior to PG but had to up the ante once PG. I also did get acupuncture but for m/s, general immune function/energy/vain attempt to avoid GD. I mentioned the SPD a few times and neither of the acupuncturists I saw ever seemed inclined to treat it at all, so I guess i figured it wasn't in their sphere and didn't bother asking - maybe I should have?! If I were you, I suppose I'd try anything if I thought it might help.

Kazbah - I think you need to wail like DS to get some action from DH next time! Sorry to hear you've pulled up so sore... hope you feel better soon.

Arimeh's Eden - nice work! So pleased it's going well for you!

Mayaness put me onto a lady in Upwey who does accupuncture - she is really great, I need to see her again. I was hobbling in and walking out!!!!!! Strongly recommend (well this lady!) her treatments!

Have also found out that Quoll has spine against mine, and it mentions SPD on the spinning babies website! Plus underactive thyroid! Although the exercises to move the bub into optimal position are almost anti-SPD exercises, but strangely since I've been doing a few of the spinning exercises, I have much greater range of movement in my hips - go figure!

    Hi all
Well, I have to say, mine wasn't too bad towards the end of my pregnancy. Knowing what to do & how to avoid aggrivating it helped massively.
As well as using the belt & having a hot shower every night. It was alot worse in the middle TBH.

Its not so great now though. Especially if I haven't had enough sleep (which is every night atm). Sitting here on the lounge, or standing to cook dinner is killing me. I'm going to have to start using the belt again. Didn't think I'd need it & didn't even think of it til now. Add to that sick kids & normal after birth aches & pains & my life is fabulous!

    heys ladies

This is really weird - I'm now o/due. For the past 2 weeks my pelvis has been great, I've been moving easily etc. But today, for no apparent reason, I'm getting sharp pains in my front bones. Any ideas?

Yay, Kaz!!! (Not that you're in pain, but because baby's probably moved!) Maybe bubs has moved down? And s/he is pushing your bones out of the way to make room for birth?

    Hello Ladies

Am I allowed to join this thread?

I am SO over this c.rap. The pain is horrible...and I have a very good pain threshold, but this is blech.

Can hardly lift my right foot...so walking, bending, putting on pants, shoes, socks etc = ouch.

Haven't been able to pick DD up for weeks.

I had SPD with my last pregnancy too, but this has come on a lot earlier.

Feel like my pelvis is going to drop off.

The usual complaints...you all know what it feels like!

Sorry for my little whinge...my Mum seems to think it will magically be cured by mediation/a doctor/extreme exercise.

    Thanks for letting me vent!

Angela I know how that feels!! I got it so early with Eden, my pregnancy was horrible!!! Its a wonder I wasn't in a wheelchair by the end of it.

Still no SPD here and I'm 26 weeks. I have got really bad sciatic and lower back pain (and hip pain) and my chiro said its because my pelvis is wanting to spread, and my muscles are working frantically to keep it together - so she actually suggested wearing the pelvic belt around my butt, instead of my pelvis.... I'll see how that goes!

Angela - the worst thing for the pelvic pain is extreme exercise. Physio can help!

We all know that....but Mum seems to think it'll magically cure me. She never had it in either of her pregnancies so has no idea how it feels. So much for empathy lol.

I'll just keep nodding and smiling at her :-)

There is light at the end of the tunnel, ladies! My DD is 2.5 weeks now and my pelvis feels much better. Still a bit sore, particularly the symphysis pubis, but sooo much better than it was. Hang in there!
