    It hurts so bad *TMI*

This really is gonna be TMI, and the only reason I'm putting it here is because I don't actually know any of you IRL, so it feels safe. Otherwise I would be even more embarrassed. Which is also why I haven't gone to a doctor

For a while now (months rather than weeks), I've been in pain when doing #2 - not the whole time, just sharply and quickly. It kind of feels like my perineum is grazed, but I don't have a clue as to how it would've happened. I'm currently taking Benefibre to try and soften everything, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the pain. And not long after, I noticed that I feel like I'm being torn whenever DH and I DTD. I've tried lube, different positions, going slower, making sure I've O'd before he enters - nothing works. In the last couple of weeks, its actually stopped us DTD, because its just incredibly painful. It almost feels like there's something else in my vagina thats being rubbed when DH is there. This morning it hurts to even sit down, I feel like there's a gash going down from the bottom of my vagina.

It hurt so bad last night that, out of desperation, I asked DH to look down there to see if there was anything visible, but he says there's not. I really don't want to go to a doctor, I just don't have a GP that I'm comfortable with. Please, ANY suggestions would be helpful

    Hi Keikemamaki

There are many things that can cause this unfortunately, to find out what is causing your pain you would really need to see a doctor and have a full examination.

But its so traumatic to be examined 'down there' Hell, I'm in tears right now just at the prospect of having it done!

Alan, out of the many things it could be, and I understand that you can't diagnose over the Internet - is it likely that it could be something that won't go away on its own? The thing I'm terrified of most is not the physical examination, although that scares me as well, its the thought that I'll be told its nothing and I just hafta deal with it til it goes away. I can handle it if its something serious, but for it to turn out to be nothing, I feel like I'm 10 years old being called a hysterical hypochondriac

I know K, I really do, and I understand, but there is clearly something wrong and you can't fix it on the internet.
Is that the sort of treatment you've been getting from GPs? You really need to find a better one!
I had a great one (miles from you) but he's no longer a GP unfortunately. Someone recommended a nice lady doctor to me up in Kalamunda recently... What about your gynae?

What about that lovely gyneacologist that you found? Could you get an appointment with him? I'm with you I find even the thought of being examined "down there" embarrassing to the extreme, but sometimes it needs to be done. :hugs:

If you like I can give you the name of the GP/Ob I saw who is in a med centre not too far from you (if I recall correctly) He's a great GP on it's own, but also being an Ob he sees 'down there' a heck of alot, in all kinds of instances, if that might make it a bit easier for you? I hate it too, don't worry

That's the great thing about gyn/ob's they have seen so many of all different kinds, shapes, problems etc that it is like examining an arm for them.

I had a similar issue in my teens, and I was so embarrassed I took almost a year before I went to the doctor. It turned out I had thrush, which had left my skin tender, when I had ripped a little (ow ow ow) when DTD. I needed a pessary for the thrush, and time to heal. I was also advised to stop using lube as it was irritating my skin, although I have now found one that doesn't irritate me.

During my examination the GP was very understanding and it was over so quickly. Please find a GP you can go and see, explain your fears and I am sure they will be sympathetic during the examination. It's not worth being in pain for something that may be quickly fixed, like mine was.

I would go to your Gyn darl. Don't be embarrassed, you wouldn't be embarrassed if you had pain in your ear. It's just another place on your body, and Ob/Gyn's are trained in vagina's. It's what they do best, just like an ENT specialist. I can understand it's really uncomfortable because of all the 'stigma' and embarrassment, but they see everything every day, they won't be phased. Hopefully remembering that would make it a little less embarrassing?

i have had a similar issue too and like traveller it was mostly thrush. my gp recommended a 2 week course of canesten pessaries (which the chemist wouldnt give me so i had to argue with them). i was also diagnosed with vagimisus (sp?) which occured because of the thrush and had to see a counsellor about it. you really should see a gp. is there a nice female one around? i found females more comfortable then males. they are much gentler and easier to talk to about it all. plus they can sometimes relate to what you are going thru. we now use plenty of lube when DTD and other stuff so that its more pleasant for me. plus i have gone from being able to DTD once or twice a week to now able to do it anytime without any pain at all!! good luck and let us know how u go.

Thanks everyone You're right, I know I need to go. I've got an appointment at the surgery around the corner from work at 12:20 - couldn't get into my normal clinic and my gyno is away for a month. I wanted to try out this clinic anyway, so I guess if I get through this appointment okay, I've found myself a decent GP

good luck hun, I hope everything is ok, or if it isn't that it's something that can be fixed quite easily. It used to really hurt me to DTD and I was so embarrassed about going to see someone, I actually don't think I ever did (and DF reckoned it was all in my head ) but I did find info about specific sexual issues clinics, I know it's not specifically a sex issue but maybe something like that could help too. Hopefully you can get some answers this afternoon though

Good luck Keike! Hope they can find out what is wrong. And stick up for yourself if they tell you nothing is wrong - you know your own body! and you have a right to be heard.

I'm glad you got an appointment. I hope it goes well. Everybody hates those kinds of appointments ... treat yourself to something nice afterwards. I always do, it makes it easier. I hope it's nothing serious

I agree with getting a new GP if you feel this bad about getting seen to. You should never be this uncomfortable or upset.

I hope you figure out whats wrong and its fixed.
