Questions about Clomid

Hey Guys,
Sorry its been a while but hey just been little sad but yet another month is now here, I contact my obs and he said he wants to up my dose to 150mg this month so fingers crossed, so that means i was 50mg for two months then 100mg for a month no change in levels now he said lets do 150mg and hopefully there be a change if not he wants me to come in a discuss options. I just hope this is my month cause I a bit scared of next options. Well guys whats news your way??Keep me informed on your travels.

So I am new to this, first time forum user. I found this site about a week ago on a really bad day. I couldn't stop reading, I just wanted to know more. It made me feel so much better to know that I am not alone, there are so many other women just like me. My friends just don?t understand, they try, but it's not the same. None of them are even trying to conceive.

A bit about me. I'm 25yo, been trying to conceive for 2 & 1/2 years now (ever since we got married). Got diagnosed with PCO about 12 months ago now. Decided to try something a little more natural for a while at first, so I went to a Naturopath for about 8 months. Whilst she did help me to regulate a reasonably normal cycle (prior to seeing her I had 2 a year) she was still unable to make me ovulate (unaware of this at the time). I just started seeing my Gyno 2 months ago. Have just gone through my first cycle of 50mg Clomid and I ovulated for what looks like the first time in at least 2 & 1/2 years, yey! I have just got my friend back again so will start taking Clomid in 2 days time. Fingers crossed we wont be friends for long. Ha ha!

I too myself ttc for the past 8 mths.just finished first round of clomid.already have 2 yr old daughter(no problem ttc then)What's bugging me is that i did conceive very easily with #1 and now no matter how much we try we r not getting any results.have regular 29-30 day cycle and o each mth.

I like others stumbled across this discussion whilst conducting a web search on Clomid. My Obs put me on Clomid yesterday for the first time and I took my first tablet last night.

A bit about myself - I am just about 28yo and was diagnosed with PCOS at 15, endiometriosis at 16 and a peturitory tumour at 17. I was told back then that I would probably have problems conceiving if at all. I have never had a regular period in my life (even when on the pill) and I wasn't too worried about it as my docs have always said not to and wait until I was ready to have bub's. It took me quite some time to find my perfect man and after being together now for 3 years have decided to get the ball rolling - even though I don't have the ring on the finger yet, hope to get that on our anniversary very soon

We have really only seriously been trying for about 6 months all up, went off the pill about 12 months ago. So about two months ago we dicided it was time to visit the Doc. Have been on Metformin for 2 months, along with my meds for tumour and as mentioned just started clomid last night. So far so good, no side effects just yet and my DDBF is hoping I don't get the mood swings as they are already bad enough

Well here is hoping that we all get the result we are after. We are off on holidays for our anniversary just at the right time so will see how we go... not getting my hopes up though.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced really bad bloating and wind as a side effect of Clomid? I have only taken my second tablet (50mg) last night and each morning after I have taken it I have terrible bloating and wind. Is this just coincidence or have others experienced it??

Hi Everyone,

first post on here im 22 and have PCOS, have been trying to start a family for 2 yrs and have recently started on clomid. My first month i took 50mg day 4-8 and day 15 had really bad upper abdo bloating and tenderness and some spotting which then turned into more consistant bleeding which last until i returned to my gyno who gave me meds to stop it. When i first experienced bloating i Went to my GP and he told me that it was reflux. I mentioned this to my gyno and he said that this wasnt reflux and was the clomid trying to work. This is my 2nd month and have taken 100mg day 4-8 and i am now day 34 and since yesterday have had the same symptoms and although i look about 6 months pregnant bcos im so bloated sadly im not!!! I also get hot flushes and sweat alot now that i am taking it and have been extremely teary for no reason. Good luck everyone!

I too had awful side effects from my first round of clomid. Hot flushes, bloating, nausea, exaustion...it was horrible! I actually debated not taking another round, but I did and here I am about to start round 4 when AF finally arrives! It does get better each round, or so I've found. Lots of people recommend taking it at night rather than in the morning, which did help me.

I sincerely hope you all have a short stay here (in the nicest possible way!).

I hope all my pregnant friends are travelling well. Stejen you must be coming up for 12 weeks! Not long now Kell...

I just wanted to post and say thank all of you as your posts have helped me greatly during my ttc journey I'm 25 DH 26 and we have been ttc for 2 years.

DH is fine but I have PCOS (even though I have perfect seeming 28 days between AF's but no O)

I started Clomid 50mg three months ago all seemed really good US showed 2 excellent follicles ovulated on cue day 14 timed BD but LP was short and AF was 4 days early.

Had HSG next month and no clomid due to Dr orders, BD but AF showed.

This month Increased to 100mg 2-6 hoping to lengthen LP had a trigger shot CD 12 and O'd on CD 14 but US had shown only one follicle bit dissapointed after 2 follicles last month wern't successfull.

I have been trawling the internet in the months since I've been on clomid and this site has been great. I havn't had any real side effects of the Clomid although it did raise my BBT for 3-4 days while I was taking it.

Anhow this round tested 8 DPO to make sure HCG was out of my system and on 12 dpo (couldn't wait any longer!) and had a feint + then on 16dpo strong ++ YAY for Clomid!!!!

So I'm sending heaps of baby dust you ways *#*#*#*# and hoping that the Karma of having helped so many TTCers will come back on you all and help all your tests have two little pink lines!

Welcome to all the new members of our thread, like Bec I really hope you get as much out of this as we have. I definately think this thread helped me enormously to get through what was an extremely difficult & upsetting time for me, it's so nice to be able to get advice & also just to talk to people who are going through the same situation as it's difficult for others to understand what we go through unless they have experienced it, so I hope we are able to help you as much as everyone helped me. I've said before that I really believe that the power of positive thought goes a long way, as hard as it is at times, try to keep your chin up as clomid has been a miracle drug for so many people,myself included! I was trying to concieve for 18 months without the clomid until I found out I wasn't ovulating at all due to severe pcos, so I went onto clomid, the first round on 50mg, the 2nd round on 100mg & the third on 150mg, all of which didn't make me ovulate. I decided to give it one last try & my Dr put me on 175mg & low & behold I ovulated for the first time & fell pregnant, so itdoes happen!!!

I agree with Bec above when she says to take the clomid at night, this is how I decided to take it & found it much easier on my body as you sleep through the majority of the side effects, so maybe give that a try if you are having troubles with hot flushes & bloating etc?

How is everyone doing anyway, how are you travelling Bec, I hope things are going well for you guys? Stejen how is everything travelling with your pregnancy, I certainly hope all the morning sickness has gone by now, how far along are you now?

As for me, im now a few days off 34 weeks pregnant & all is doing very well so far. I just finished work so now im going to concentrate on making sure everything is ready for peanuts arrival.

Hello all!! It's been quite some time since I have posted...I was in school over the summer and have started up the fall semester so I have been busy busy busy.

My pregnancy is going well thus far...I will be 19 weeks on Tuesday and so far everything looks good and healthy. The morning sicness is gone!!! my baby bump is beginning to sprout...Also, I felt it for the first time this past week which was pretty amazing!

I about halfway there, and really really starting to feel the itch!!! I cannot wait to meet this little one. I actually already know that I have to have a C-Section because of a brain surgery I had in the past, so my date it already scheduled...the morning of January 28th! It's nice to be able to plan so well, and at least I know it won't come after that day!! Very nice to have an exact end point in mind!!

I hope that everyone is doing well...BABYDUST to all!!! I do have to say that I just found out I have a cousin with PCOS and though I thought she had been trying she just confirmed to me that she has been trying for the past two years...I can tell it's really hard on her, and though she is wonderfully supportive and happy, I know it makes her sad to see me and where I am at. I thank God every single day for my blessing...and I pray every single day for those of you out there who are going through this process to be blessed the same way...

Hi Guys, I'm still on the roller coaster of clomid have been on it now since Jan and no luck. My obs rekons to come in and we will try something new as I havent ovulated on clomid even on 150mg So I am off to see him on Friday hopefully with some new ideas. I have started a new diet with my dietician but I'm not overweight but they have suggested to loose some weight which may help me lets hope so cause I am struggling to deal with the fact that this baby wont happen. Anyways I will keep you up to date with my travel. Unfortunately clomid wasnt for me. Kepp in touch guys good luck to all though on the clomid travel

I am still waiting to start clomid!!! Doctor gave me provera to bring on af. Have taken it for about 6 days and have turned into an absolute COW!!! I have been moody and cranky and picking fights with hubby just for the hell of it (it seems).

Just wondering if anyone else felt like this???????? It is a little scary..

hey i am samantha i have been trying for a baby with my partner for about a yr and half . i have been bleeding unnormaly for the last year and my docotor did scans and test on me to see wat was going on and they couldnt found nothing. so they have put me on clomid . i started taking them on the 4th of august and stop on the 8th. jsut wondering are their meant to be any side effects? and how long does it take till these pills make me pregnant ? pls reply

I'm new to the forum - but found this thread and have read it all as it close to my own journey.

Mandii03 - wow I'm on a similar path with you I think and would love to hear what suggestions your Dr gave you about next alternative after Clomid! Good luck - I feel for you with the stress of waiting and hoping each time.

Been trying for 9mnths naturally, then diagnosed with poly cystic ovaries and low LH. Basically lots of small follicles but not maturing enought to ovulate - I think???!!! All very confusing to me and not great communication with my Dr. Not 100% sure that I'm ovulating at all, seem to be rising levels in blood tests but obviousely no happy ending yet!

Anyway, have done 3 months of Clomid (25mg, 1 each day 2-6) now this four month I'm taking 50mg, 3 each day 1 in morn and 2 in even day 2-6. I am abit shocked at rapid jump in dosage - but hope to ask Dr LOTS of questions soon!

Wondering myself, what happens next if this doesn't work - injections? HSG - Dr not even mentioned it!

Welcome to those of new who are new to this forum!
Newbie, I spoke to my doctor about the next step, and it's injections called Gonal. It's the drug they give you when you start IVF to mature follies so they can take collect them via surgery. I haven't got that far yet, so far the clomid has worked each month, 1 pregnancy ending in miscarraige and 2 were not successful. Keep trying, it might just take a bit more to get you going!

Kell- 34 weeks?! Oh my gosh. I hope the next 5 or 6 weeks go smoothly and you aren't too uncomfortable. I remember when I was that pregant with my first, I had to get out of bed to turn over! I was easier than trying to roll!
Stejen- I'll bet you can't wait for your 20 week scan? It's so exciting, becasue they look so real at that scan. Goodluck!

Katieboo- I have just taken Primolut (like prevera) and I am also very crabby wehn I'm on it! It takes between 3-7 days to bring on your period, and it can be a pretty painful one. Hope it arrives soon so you can start!

AFM: Sorry I've been AWOL for a while. After my well deserved month off clomid, I'm back on the journey. AF didn't turn up and HPT showed not pregnant so back on the Primolut N. Today is CD3 to clomid starts on Friday. I am hoping after a month off the side effects wont be back...but oh well. I'm on 100mg again this month, and u/s for follies on day CD15 (mine are late bloomers!). I'll keep you posted and I'll look forward to hearing how everyone's going.

I went to see docs yesterday and he has pushed me onto his partner which is an IVF specialist - similar to one that can perscribe me with drugs that have to be closley monitored he doesnt want me on clomid no more as it has done nothing for the last nine months. So I just wait for new appointment and see what they will do then. The wait is yuck!!!He rekons it may happen naturally while waiting but hey been trying since july last year so I am very negative towards that.
So I think hes booking me in for another lap to see if they can find anything else so the waiting game still on!!
Hope your all travelling well any one have any ideas let me know as i would love some sort of miracle

Just an update - have seen FS and besides never feeling so angry in my life at his attitude towards me asking questions, he provided some answer that I thought might be worth sharing. Because I'm ovulating he said I should stick with Clomid for anywhere up to 20months! Although in the next breath he said they should work within the first three months, best probability of success early on. He did say that continual usage of Clomid doesn't block oestrogen receptors (as I'd read) as effects of Clomid aren't cumulative but just each month..

Anyway, he said no to injections as that does the same thing as the Clomid is doing in stimulating FSH. Next month he'll do a HSG scan of fallopian tubes (only after I pushed him). His viewpoint is that I should try IUI if doesn't work in next couple of months. Personally that's not the way for me so I'll be taking a break from Clomid after 7months and then see. After quizzing him about vitamins etc that I could be on - he said definitely Folic Acid 500mcg and Elevit (multivitamins).

Becnaxi - thanks so much for the info on the injections - will have to ask my FS that next week (forgot the name this week!). I'm a late bloomer too with follicles maturing at Day 18+ to date! Good luck

Mandii03 - Sorry to hear you've had no luck with Clomid to date! I hear you! I hope IVF works for you and the process isn't too emotionally draining.
Some alternative advice I got from a mid-wife might be of interest to you and anyone else out there
