I had a similar situation at 9wk, just some spotting but had lost my baby, so I ended up having a D&C a few days later, I found it fine. I have also had some early miscarriages, they were painful and heavy bleeding and to tell the truth would have preferred a D&C. Its painful enough emotionally without the drawn out physical pain but thats just my opinion, its a personal choice. People have D&Cs all the time for various reasons and they rarely cause any problems so don't be scared, its a very small procedure.
My D&C was done privately so I'm not sure if the public hospitals would make you wait a long time. Could you ring the emergency department and ask them if they would do it?
