Oh I'm so sorry to hear this, it is not fair
I recently had a m.c at 8 weeks and for me it was extremely painful, the most painful thing that's ever happened to me so far. Don't want to scare you, just telling you because if I knew it was going to happen to me again I would ask the Dr for some strong painkillers before hand. Hot packs on the back or stomach really helped me. Fortunately the pain didn't last the whole time the bleeding did, it was only really 4-6hrs.
Hopefully you're at the hospital now if you think it could be ectopic, to your wife, she is in my thoughts.
Our Dr said wait until after your first period after the m.c to start TTC but I couldn't find any evidence for why this was the case so we decided to TTC straight away and fell pregnant again before AF, everything is fine so far.
