I bought the Honeyboy pattern. I liked the look of it the best and it came with a booklet with step by step instructions. I can sew ok, but I've only been sewing for a year or so on my own (without mum to help me) and some of the free patterns assume a lot of knowledge. The instructions weren't exactly as detailed as I'd have liked but I've made 12 NB size ones with only limited unpicking so I'm happy.

There is a Honeyboy! sewing group you can join (yahoo groups) which has step by step pictorials which are quite helpful. You can also post questions and have HoneyWAHMS (Honeyboy Work At Home Mums) answer them. Honeyboy nappies are one of the most time consuming and tricky patterns out there but they're killer nappies so are worth the effort!

The Very Baby pattern is good if you have an overlocker (you'll have to google where from though as I don't know). Check out ozclothnappies dot org for free patterns too.

Thanks Shannon and Cat. I had read the honeyboy patterns were a bit confusing - and they seem so wide across the crutch. I've got a skinny minny who is not fussed on too much bulk there IYKWIM?

I have an OL so will check out the Very Baby pattern - thanks

If you ever get a HB pattern, you can easily adjust it so the crotch is trimmer. You'll need to re-draw the bits in between the elastic points but that's not too hard. I've started sewing my crotches about 2'' trimmer (so 1'' off each side) which makes a big difference! I need to trim down the hidden soaker when I do this too.

Good on you for sewing! Hope all goes well

    Hiya all
I'm new to belly belly and have just come across this thread. I make cloth nappies too, have tried to sell them at the local market but havn't had much interest so far. I have recently started using PUL material on the outer layer ( buy online) as it is waterproof and breathable. Its great, i generally don't get any leaks or accidents. I also made my own design to suit DS.
I started with Mamabirds design (free just google mamabird) i had to modify it from the start however because it had a huge crotch width. If anyone needs help or info just yell and I'll see if i can help
