I have to agree with many of the posts, that co-sleeping is the way to go. Both my girls slept in our room for 1 1/2 years and the cot is still in our room ready for the next one in June. The first one slept in our bed, the second I bought the cot and took one side off and had it up against our bed. Then if we wanted a bit of space, I'd just roll her over into her cot. Breast feeding was easy, and I couldn't imagine having to actually get up several times in the middle of the night, especially in winter! If we were to start all over again, we would just buy a king size bed instead! Both girls share a room, and had no trouble transferring.
PS Krysalyss made some excellent points.

. We have had our babies/toddlers in bed with us until 2..having said that ..Sammy is 3 in August and is still very reluctant to try out his own bed so likes getting into 'mine pot in da middle of mumma and daddee'
