Jayne - so sorry I have not responded to your news about your wee girl... been so tied up to the point of getting ill, I just didn't want to give you a 'throwaway' line.... my heart, like Springs, did a little jumping when I read about your possible diagnosis, but I'm thanking the powers that be that you are all home, and how is the little Miss now? Thank you universe for giving you a bit more grief this year NOT... huge hugs hon xoxo
Girls - I think it's permissible to WET ONES PANTS !!!!!!!!!
I have not booked anything yet, but will have a look this week - there's a few daily flight between Hobart-Melbourne - I would prefer 2 nights away - so same as Michelle would arrive on Friday 1st Oct. I'm happy to share a room or LARGE S****Y APARTMENT with a few of you girls - just too old do share a bed with girls, so must have own bed lol.... what was the name of where you are staying Jayne?? Be good if we are all in the one spot I reckon... I won't be bringing any of my babes, as I want a break!
Got my best friend from Sydney here this weekend, having a great time, but her little girl is sick, so not much fun for her.... other than that my little Remy turned 2 yesterday - gone so fast, she is SO CUTE at the moment, but I must admit to lookig forward to putting the toddler years behind us - cos EVERYTHING is an issue atm, and frankly it's goddam tiring!! I know I should not wish it away, but I just find the older kid thing so much easier..... anyway live in the moment and all that huh!?!
Best choof, going to steal a hot bath by myself!
Happy planning - Spring and Freya would be SO good if you could make it down to Melbourne too..... let us keep plotting and scheming!
just feeling really flat today. The sleep deprivation means I have a constant headache and an upset belly. I know O followed exactly the same path as B and I know it will pass but I'm a bit over it. Even co-sleeping doesn't help. To compound matters O is acting up big time. I don't have the patience with him that I should because I'm so zonked. I feel like I'm always rousing on him B has also started chomping on my nipple when he is feeding YOUCH is all I can say.
Just needed to get it out. DH and I are at eachother which is just the result of sheer exhaustion I know. Doesn't help that he is now questioning having another. I know it's just because we are doing it tough ATM but it upsets me. I know he doesn't mean it, I know it's just the exhaustion speaking.
On a postitve note, B us now cruising around the furniture and occasionally let's go and stands for a few seconds. Pretty impressive considering he is not even 8 months for a few more days.
No way do you sound like a whinger Spring . I'm so glad you came to us to let it out. You are doing a beautiful job with your boys my love, I'm sorry that the lack of sleep is making you feel so crappy. It is truly awful, and you and DH snapping at each other just makes everything seem horrible. It's like, if you're in it together, anything seems doable, but when no one is coping, everything feels like it's falling apart. I know it's not a cure-all, but is there any chance of you and DH getting some some time together, go and see a movie or something? I know it doesn't cure the sleep stuff, but it might help recharge the batteries.
Are you otherwise managing to look after yourself? Eating and drinking well, getting out for a walk or play most days? All those things will make such a difference. I honestly think you're going through the hard stage at B's age, before long you'll be past it, and you'll be able to wallow in the luxury of sleep I know you know that, but sometimes it's nice to be reminded .
Off to take some of my own advice LOL..........poor N has been really hard work this last week, especially when we go out. I know what you mean Spring, I feel like I'm always telling him off, or asking him not to do this or that. I feel mean, and I feel exhausted. Anyway, enough of me, I hope things are looking up for you soon.
How is everyone else? I've been missing this thread alot lately. Been hashing over D's pregnancy and birth, and early weeks, after Lou having her baby last week. The support I received in here was so wonderful, I will never forget it. And DEB, I don't know what I would have done without all the info you gave me as well, thank you.
My little man is now 5.3kg, so small, but oh so cute! He is rolling everywhere, and chatting lots (and loudly). He is such a cruisey and smiley boy, now his diet is looked after. We know now it's dairy, soy and oats that we have to avoid. Just moving him onto another prescription formula today, hope it's the last step in this challenging time!
Hope everyone else is doing well Hang in there Spring
Im back! Sorry had my own issues to deal with and felt like I needed some time away. Miss N is a real handful, she doesnt sleep so trying to deal with all the issues that come with that - Im feeling your pain Spring.
Ok im going to try and catch up with where everyone is at before I attempt any sort of personals.
Oh and dont forget me for the Melb catch up - cant wait to see you all and you Miss Jayne before you go to China! So happy for you hun
Hi girls. I'm here. Just having a few issues with my ability to cope and not resort to reactionary parenting. The 3yo is killing me and the IL's have made plans that will either mean I miss out (which I anticipate it will) or I change my plans for Melbourne. There is no way I am missing out on catching up but there may need to be a change in days for me (fly down Saturday and come back Sunday instead). Who knows. I am over it all. Tired, exhausted, needing a good cry and feeling very much alone
I haven't been posting much because I don't want to make people feel guilty for having issues and venting about them. We all need to get them out.
BBL. I have a friend visiting today to give me some sanity and then the last home game of the season tonight. My last chance for a regular *outing* this year. How depressing does that sound
Michelle: a million gazillion hugs. My almost three year old is doing my head in big time. He is testing me at each and every opportunity so I get how freaking frustrating it is. I'm so sorry you feel so lonely. I know you're facing so much more than me but I'm very thankful that you're ok with me having a sooky la la whinge.
Ok. I'm OVAH it. This is how last night went
6.45pm feed to sleep
8.00pm resettle
9.30pm feed
11.30pm feed
AWAKE until 1.45 am!!!!! I tried feeding, rocking, patting, putting him in bed with us, change nappy etc etc etc
4.30am feed
5.45 up for the day
I just can't do it anymore!!! I have a constant headache, I have an upset tummy I just can't function.
So call me a terrible mum but we decided this morning to do controlled comforting. Who am I kidding it's controlled crying. I feel like I've had a bloody newborn for 8 months. It's affecting my ability to calmly parent O, it's affecting my relationship with DH, it's affecting my health and my sanity. I love B so much but as a 8 month old surely it isn't healthy to have so
little sleep.
I just tried it for his morning sleep. He cried on and off for about 40 mins. I consistently went in and resettled him. I felt like crap but hey, he fell asleep.
Man I feel like I'm losing the plot. I need to breath.
Spring hun, I feel your pain!!! We have been having similar issues here and I also find that DH and I snap at each other more because of the sleep deprivation and of course that only makes it worse. Do you have a babysitter? I got one recently and it was the best thing I ever did. While DH was away and the kids were sick, I would get her to come around just so that I could have a sleep and it did wonders. We are now giving ourselves one night a week or fortnight out on our own and I think we have really needed it. Hugs hun. But WTG your little man - cruising already!! At seven months my little guy has only just figured out how to roll the other way and is almost getting on all fours, and that's about it! I also had to resort to controlled crying on the weekend, and he cried for TWO HOURS!! I caved after that (much to DH's digust - we always have different ideas on how long to let them cry and he is much tougher than me), but I must say, he was better the next night and I have managed to cut one of the night feeds now. We'll see if it continues though. Why do these little people have to make life so hard for us sometimes?? I tell you what, it is lucky they are so cute!
Lisa - good to 'see' you. I hope you start to get some more sleep soon. Sounds like a lot of us are having similar issues ATM!
Mako - how are you doing hun?
Lee - I hear you re the toddler years. We are the same here - absolutely EVERYTHING is an issue! Sometimes I just want to scream at her to give me a break!! Glad to hear that you had a good time with your friend, and happy birthday to Remy!!
Jayne -how are you going hun? That must have been such a scare with Jess, I hope it never happens again. I am so sorry we didn't get to catch up while I was in Perth, I was really hoping to see you and little Claudia. When is the move scheduled for? it looks like we are almost definitely moving back to Perth now, probably in the next few months, but I don't know if you will still be around! Hopefully we will get to Melb when you are there so we can see you then. How are all the moving plans going? There must be sooo much to organise I bet.
Michelle - please don't worry about us - you need to post whatever you want and we all want to help you in any way we can. You are doing a wonderful job hun, and believe me, we are all guilty of reactionary parenting at times (in my case fairly often actually!). I have to say, George is scrumptious and I can't believe how much Lily looks like you! I love the new pics you have up on fb. I dearly hope you can make it to Melb, it would be lovely to meet you.
Janie - I am glad to hear that you have figured out the allergy issues. Sounds like your little man is doing very well! Are you still bfing?
freya - I hope you can make it to Melb, I would love to meet you!
hi to everyone else, sorry I haven't been around much lately. We were in Perth for a couple of weeks staying with my parents and I couldn't get online and we have been busy since we got back. It looks like DH's work are sending us back to Perth again so we are trying to figure out what we will do since we have tenants in our house for the next 10 months. Looks like living with the inlaws is most likely, argh!!! I am happy about moving back and being closer to family again, but also sad as we are really happy here. One thing is for sure - if we move in with the ILs, I will definitely be heading back to work PT!!
Spring - hun you do what you have to do. In a perfect world all kids would sleep 12hrs solid from birth, never push your limits. We'd all be sane and happy. Unfortunately it doesnt work that way, so we do what we have to do to survive. A rested you is important; equally as much if not more than something like controlled comforting/crying. I think just about every parent has had to do some version of it, whilst it isnt ideal it can be neccesary. I will say, and I know youll probably throw rotten eggs at me, that it does get easier to deal with; in that once they hit 12+mths its not completely controlled crying but more a battle of the wits, alot less emotional and guilt ridden. I wish I was up there so I could take the boys off your hands for a few hours so you could rest and have some you time
Thanks for all the support guys I just had a boot camp session and
managed to get out some pent up frustration. I had a big chat to mum this morning and she is going to help out during this week whilst I'm trying to get things together.
On a good note it only took 7 mins to settle for his sleep and he is still asleep 1 hour and going.
Spring - it is around the time of a wonder week too and I know my little non sleepers took to being awake for a while during the night at this age.
Thanks girls. Just for being here. I just want what I can't have. I miss what isn't here anymore and I desperately miss sharing the load. Knowing I can tag team and get a time out. Discussing what we will do and how we will manage it. It is terrifying to have the sole responsibility for these little people. My decisions today are far reaching ones. I just don't want to stuff this up
Michelle I know my situation is not the same but I do get how scary it can feel to have the sole responsibility for these precious Beings. Sometimes that feeling can be engulfing.
I am sorry I havent been around much my loves. I've been drowning a bit, come up for air and am flailing a bit again. It's tough some days & I dom't want to drag you all down.
I've started feeling pretty uneasy with a barrage of emails that are in short "irrational". It's thrown me somewhat that the father of my kids has such venom in him.
Anyway I just wanted to send hugs where they are needed. Spring, I am glad you have your mum to lend a hand while you are trying to get little B to sleep.

Michelle: Mate I can't imagine how overwhelming the task ahead seems. You can only do what you can do hun, and that is take each day at a time. One foot infront of the other. Just hang in there hun
Inanna: no wise words just utter disbelief in the way FOTY chooses to conduct himself. It is just outrageous. I'm sorry this is happenening yet again.
Well tonight is going ok. I'm going to stick with this. I wish is was a wonder week thing Michelle but B has been having hours of awakeness each night for a few months now. It just isn't getting any better, infact it's getting worse. I just know that we as a family need to be able to get some much needed rest.
Sorry for not posting here lately - have had ZERO time for anything like that. Michelle, Spring, Deb - we are all doing it so hard at the moment - wish we could group hug in real life.
I'm going to Sydney tomorrow with my dog - re-homing Indy girl at with friends of friends in Newcastle - so although devastated to say goodbye to her, it really is for the best right now, and one massive removal of much stress at home. Then Wednesday I'm going to Phuket - it's cheap, it's a direct flight, it's pretty safe and I can get 5 massages a day if I want. This has come about because of things at home, things are really hitting rockbottom, and I feel like if I don't escape I'm headed to the loonie bin.... completely overwhelmed with putting out DH's 'spotfires' - he's very capable of taking care of the kids (although big kids not that happy, but they will survive) for a week, and it was his idea, he booked it all and even got me a new laptop to keep me company. I know this sounds a bit dramatic - but I just feel like if I don't escape to recharge, to process - then I'm going to completely burn out.... so I hope this will help. DH is still going to France in October for 7 weeks..... so that'll be my payback!
Oh girls - I wish I could make everything better for all of us. Michelle, like you said to me on the phone the other day - things will improve, they will, I know it for all of us, I really believe that.
Sorry for lack of personals - just wanted to pop in and touch base, I should have good internet access where I'm staying, so will be back in a few days. I'll be having a massage for every one of you beautiful girls.
So quiet in here girls, whats going on? Thought I'd log in and say hi to you all in here! Not too much to report at my end, treading water at the moment. My DH flies to France next week for 8 weeks - so I'm bracing myself for solo parenting 4, bit scared because I know there will be no break, and I'll be sleep deprived too, and I don't have much help here at all - but besides those challenges - I'm welcoming the break from a lot of the stresses, and will enjoy some more chilled time with the big kids.
I've got a tummy bug & feel like hell. It's school holidays & I lvoe that. But the fwexh has the two girls & I am worried. Trying to let that go but still...
DD15 is back home! Wow it's been huge. They drove her into town & left her there with no money, phone etc. She stayed with a friend. Went to school & told the story. So now she is very happy to be home again. She wasn't "allowed" to stay at Sloppy's on the weekends - that was "family time" for the FW and Sloppy & her boys.
FWEX believes she has Aspergers... It's all been a nightmare. But she's home. She's safe. She's seen her father for all he is - which has been incredibly traumatic but in the long run it's a good thing I think. xxx
