I have a problem with the 'supervise at all times' bit as well because as was proven in the recent tragic case ( there was an adult present), you may be there supervising, but will you actually be able to stop an attack when its happening?? Without putting yourself in danger of being mauled as well?

Reet- I am totally understanding how hard this must be, i don't have dogs but love animals, and its such a hard one.

I would probably go with being safe and get rid of the dog as hard as it would be. There is no such thing as being 100% sure the dog wouldn't snap suddenly. You have to put the safety of your child first.
