Hey girls,
Mel I am so glad that your little Angel is ok. I used to work at the Mater Childrens hospital and it was heartbreaking seeing those tiny little babies coming out of GA/ It just seems so unfair. At least you know in your heart that it is something you had to do for your little girl and you were so strong for going through it all as bravely as you did. Big hugs!!! xoxoxoxox. If you want a group of us to get together and come and keep you company one day, just give us a shout and we will be there, chocolate cake and all!

So what is everyone else up too?? The usual Tuesday meeting seems to have been forgotten this week...waaaahhhhhhhhhhhh boo hoooo...We have to think of somewhere nice to meet...I was thinking Hinze Dam would be somewhere nice too? There is a great little park out there and plenty of room for the kids (i.e Bailey!!!) to run around and for Baileys sake, also, there is plenty of water to go swimming in! LOL. Those who met at Robina would understand......grrr

Anyway I better get myself off to bed...I hope everyone is well. Really hope to catch up with everyone soon xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Hi everyone
I was at the doctors today with Aoife and told him about the concern i have with Aoifes eyesight he read my hospital file and said it sounds like it could be a form of epeilapcy its when they are in a day dream like stare .He is refering her to a specialist and said she may need to have a catscan. he also said it could be notting and not to worry .Im not going to worry till she gets all the tests done shes healty to me and if anything is wrongh with her we will deal with it.We are collecting the lettter tomorrow we will probely be on a waiting list cause we dont have insurance.

I am glad you aren't worrying yourself for nothing at this stage. If it does come down to epilepsy, it is treatable with medication.. and many people lead normal happy lives with this condition. But as you said, she looks so healthy and so beautiful that you simply wouldn't know otherwise. Like i said on Friday, i thought her eyes were one of her most gorgeous features

That's strange the possible eyesight issue would have anything to do with an epilepsy diagnosis. The reason I don't drive is actually because that is exactly the type of epilepsy I have (now called childhood absence seizures) - diagnosed at 7 and didn't grow out of it (75% of kids do), but it doesn't affect any aspect of my life other than driving, which really doesn't bother me.

Anyway, great that you're staying positive until any further info is received.

Hi Amygirl i have noticed for months now that Aoife has been having these little episodes where ill be feeding her food and she will stop and stare straight through me like she is day dreaming and ill be calling her name and there would be no responce for a few seconds .I have had a few people comment about it like Will parents have come up a couple of times and his mum has noticed it and being a mother you dont want to think anything is wrongh with your child i was hoping it was something that might go away after a while.she also dose this strange thing with her hand when she is staring she opens and closes it i thought she might be wanting something but the doctor said that this could be something that happens when she is in this state have you ever heard of this?

Hi Bernie. Oh ok, I thought the doc was going off the colour issue in her eyes?
Well I'm no doctor of course and it could be anything and it could be absolutely nothing so as you said, I wouldn't think about it any further until you have some tests behind it. It's not worth the stress.

Epilepsy comes in lots of degrees of severity and non-severity. There are so many types out there and everyone reacts very differently to them and medication. Mine are so short that they are only picked up on an EEG scan these days, so I don't even notice them.

I hope I didn't scare you in anyway saying that I have it, sorry if I did. I just thought by saying it I'd point out, as Catherine said, you can lead a normal life with it as I do.

The only reason i thought it was to do with her eyesight is because when she stares (day dreaming )its like she cant see me so i thought it might be bad eyesight but she can see ok every other time.Dont worry you havent scared me im not going to worry about it .Im just glad the doctor has listened to me this time every time i gone to him he has kinda brushed it off now he is looking into it for me.It could be notting so ill wait and see.Thanks for telling me your story it helps to know if it is that its not the end of the world.

Amygirl- Like you said, things get easier quicker than you think and they have, im already getting back to normal and we are able to go out!!!! Yeeee haaaaaarr!!! I have fitted Elly into her car seat and i have also ordered adjustable straps for the car seat, so its all good. I so cant wait to meet up with everyone again, but this week i have visitors galore for support. God how did i get so lucky with all of you beautiful people in my life!!!

Bernie- You are such a great mum and we are thinking of you. I am glad that your not looking into it tooo much until you get a professional opinion. Life certainly can throw us some wobbly bits (both physically and mentally)HUH, did i just make a joke (er yes/no?).

The thread isn't used much so it will be nice to see it active. You can keep using the playgroup thread to announce your next playgroup meet, but can you please use the QLD thread for general chatter amongst yourselves from now on. Ok thats just so not funny Miss Gill! lol.....Im up for anything. Ill be a little less stressed next time, I promise! Although Wednesdays and Thursdays for casual coffee are great for me because I am Bailey free. Dont take it the wrong way, I love my little man, but seriously, taking your pants off in the middle of Robina Town Centre and having to walk a half naked child through David Jones with grannies looking down there noses at me, isnt as funny as it sounds!! Kids will be kids....maybe ill just bring spare clothes next time?? Parks are good too...at least they can run around and not get into too much mischief. I actually really enjoyed our trip to Broadbeach park that time. Maybe we can bring a thermos of tea? What im thinking is....we need a regular place and time to meet so that all of us know when and where things are happening so no one misses out...and if others want to meet and do stuff on the other days then that is cool too. So if we find somewhere central that everyone agrees too? Or...maybe pick two places and alternate them each week? Like the park at broadbeach and the park at Palm Beach? Then at least the kids get a bit of variety. Ok im nattering on and Joe thinks I am writing a book!....what do you guys think?? Id just love to have something to do each week that I know if going to be on and whoever turns up turns up?
Also....before I go...there is a girl who posted a thread on the playgroups section looking for mums on the northern gold coast, so I pointed her this way.
Hope to see you all sooooon. I missed our playgroup today boo hoooooo.

Great idea. Don't have to come all the way down to Palm Beach if that's just for me...am I the only one that lives this far south? Anyway, where ever.

I was thinking perhaps you could not only alternate the location each week but perhaps the time? So have one week morning meets and the next week afternoon meets so covers all basis? Too confussing? I'm easy whatever is decided. I'm absolutely loving walks at Burleigh Heads at the moment (so wish I lived closer to it)....so if anyone ever wants to join me in that, would love the company. Anyway, now I'm writing a book ..LOL.
