This information is from the American Pregnancy Association website:

Week 7 Gestational Age (Fetal Age 5 weeks)
Generally from 6-7 weeks is the time when a heartbeat can be detected and viability can be assessed. A normal heartbeat at 6-7 weeks would be 90-110 beats per minute. The presence of an embryonic heartbeat is an assuring sign of the health of the pregnancy. Once a heartbeat is detected, the chance of the pregnancy continuing ranges from 70-90% dependent on what type of ultrasound is used. If the embryo is less than 5mm CRL, it is possible for it to be healthy without showing a heartbeat, though a follow up scan in 5-7 days should show cardiac activity.
Hope that helps ease your anxiety a little. If I see anything else, I'll post it. Lots of love and

    Hiya Georgi

We don't stop worrying hey - all is different - my friend's scan at same time was 117 so when I told her mine was 154 she was amazed - she is now 23 weeks and all is perfectly fine

Kerry, I loved your post about if heartbeat detected percentage of likely to continue 70 - 90% - reassuring. last time I had u/s at 10.5 wks and had a heartbeat but 2 weeks later, bubs had become an angel at 11 weeks - no rhyme or reason. I did have a severe case of food poisoning which at the time docs said don't worry, but it is a bacterial infection, not viral like the tummy bugs that are going around .... so opinion was inconclusive.

But with the figures, I have more confidence that this one will go smoothly

Georgi, take care hun - it is hard not to compare with others - I need to practice what I preach too LOL

The 'normal' heartbeat is between 110 and 160. If your baby is sleeping it is not unusual to be a little lower than 110 and if your baby is active it can be higher than 160. At 7 weeks the heartbea5t is often on the lower side of 'normal'
