I also was diagnosed high risk with DS at the 12 week scan. I don?t know what my baby?s neck measurements were but the dr?s told me it was combination of the measurement my age (26 at the time) and my blood test that gave me the high risk measurement.

I can so relate to how you are feeling right now. We chose to have the amnio test but had to wait till I was about 15 weeks to reduce the risk of miscarriage. I can tell you that it was the longest 2 weeks of my life.

A friend of mine who went through the same thing said something to me that made me feel a little better during the whole process. ?This is NOT a diagnosis just a possibility, if you were betting on a horse and it only had a 1 in 28 chance of loosing those are still pretty good odds.

I know there is nothing I can say that will make your anxiety go away until you know for sure but I will be thinking about you tomorrow and hoping that everything goes well for you.

I saw the article on the TV that the other ladies were referring to and I have to agree with what the Dr on that program was saying. A VERY LARGE majority of these positives are false positives and put the mum and dad under so much stress while they wait for these results of further testing, not to mention the risk involved with the test itself.

I wish you the best of luck with your test, the strength to deal with what ever the outcome and courage to make what ever decisions that needs to be made.

For the record my son was born healthy.

Thankyou everyone, I am so so very nervous about today, yet I wont know the results for 2days, well I am hoping anyway. These results that come back quickly are incomplete results and the full results take around a week or so. So I am feeling like a long wait ahead.

Lolly - Thankyou hun for sharing your story too, I know it is only a diagnosis not a positive result yet I think it is the thought of it that gets you. IYKWIM. It is funny to about the NT scan being on TV as the DR that is doing the procedure today and who had to complete the NT scan had even mentioned that someone had told him about it being on TV. He also said that it inst 100% it is only a diagnosis.

Well, I feel like I am going to be in good hands today with this DR as he was also in our Local Newspaper after having operated on a baby while still inside his mothers womb as he had fluid built up in his chest. Anyway he was born healthy and only to little marks on him that look like freckles from his op. This Dr also specialises in the CVS being done internally and is the only one that will perform it, as the other Dr that performs the CVS abdominally specialises in that only and is the only one that performs that procedure. So I can take comfort that he will do a good job.
Just feeling a little nervous having my legs opened up for the whole world to see. Anyway at least I can concentrate on seeing my bub again. Still praying for a much better outcome after todays procedure. Thanks again everyone I really appreciate your support. Hugs to all.
