    remedies for morning sickness

So I'm going to Japan for 2 weeks on Friday, right when I might, if I'm going to, start getting morning sickness. So far nothing except I'm not as hungry as usual, which might be it or might be general nerves about the whole baby thing.

I've read about people eating a dry biscuit or so first thing in the morning, and I've seen people mention fruit tingles (why?).

What I want to know is what things would you take to Japan to help with possible morning sickness? Bearing in mind that I might not be able to get the things I want there, or might not be able to recognise their packaging even if I find them... I figured I'd toss a packet of ryvitas or similar in my suitcase, to start with.

    Any suggestions?

Constant eating and drinking seemed to help me, if I got too hungry I'd start to feel nauseous (hence 'morning sickness' because it's been awhile between meals).
Some people use travel sickness bands, from pharmacies.
Other people find that ginger helps, some freshly cut ginger in some hot water (I have sugar too), or ginger lollies.

Fruit tingles are usually used for heartburn, towards the end of a pregnancy.

There are some tips for morning sickness in this BB article.

You can get maxalon tabs from the GP which are safe during pregnancy. At least then if you do get sick you can have them in ur bag ready and no need to go get them??? If your looking for an alternative i found the water crackers before sitting up in bed helped heaps.

Fruit tingles are great first thing in the morning as they give you a sugar hit before you stand up and feel nauseous. The trick is to have one while you are still lying down!

Sea sickness bands work for many people too.

I found dry biscuits and weak cordial to be the best things for me - it's a really personal thing though as what makes you feel well makes others feel sick. You just need to go with what your body says it wants/doesn't want.

I agree with Nai about drinking weak cordial or juice. Again its about blood sugar levels I think.

    * Lemons - lemon juice, lemons in water etc. A friend of mind found eating them like an orange helped her. Like Nai said, it's really individual as to what will work and sometimes what worked early on stops working later.
    * Dried ginger. (Easy to travel/pack)
    * Not eating and drinking at the same time.
    * Smaller meals more often.

You might not get m/s that badly. I was expecting it too and it has been around a little bit from time to time but nothing that knocked me about too badly. you escape it! Enjoy Japan

i have to say McDonalds chips always helped my MS, look for the M!!!

Or eating every hour or so (could be just a biscuit) helps because it stablises blood sugar, if you get hungry it makes it worse.

And all the things everyone else said.

    have fun!!

    Hi

I found eating an apple helps me and it is good because it is Low GI so it stays in your body for longer than some of the biscuits. Good luck with your pregnancy

Thanks very much everyone. I appreciate your suggestions.

I've bought a packet of crackers and a packet of ginger biscuits to take with me to Japan.

Motion sickness bands worked a treat for me!!! They are only $10 at the chemist and IMO, the best $10 I ever spent. Nothing else seemed to work.

Keep up your vitamin B levels too, if I forget to take my tablets I get sick later that day.
