Poor thing! Do you have ducted heating at all?
That may be drying you out a bit too....
I suppose its better than spewing in the toilet all the time..![]()
For the last few nights ive slept only a few hours in total each night.
I have taken to needing water ALL night long so filled up a 750ml bottle and by morning its all gone....the down side is im up every 60-90 minutes peeing
Is peeing so much a good thing? LOL
I have tried to stop taking the water to bed but i wake up hardly able to breath cos my throat is so dry and sore.
The loo is looking like a great bed right now![]()

Yeh we have heating too....but to turn it off our house freezes over.. i leave it on around 18
Lol at the loo-bed!
Me too, Kimbaz. I've been keeping a bottle of water by my bed and in the bathroom for swigging during the night. I've been waking up unable to breathe because my mouth is so dry. My sinuses are also very inflamed. So not much sleep at my place either. Not to mention the reflux!
Do you have people telling you very jovially that it's your body getting you used to the sleep deprivation that's to come? I feel like screaming at them!!
I'm going to try drinking more water during the day to see if it helps. I'll let you know if it works! And if you find a solution, let me know!![]()
With 2 kids a;ready i had sleep dep before..but now its worse!!
I drink heaps through the day and dont pee much...but night time heaps...i dunno how that works :P
im going thru the same thing, ill wake up with a dry mouth / throat, my nose is blocked , ive tried everything it will be clear for a few hours at the most, then block up again, so that keeps me awake too, ill be soo thirsty i wanna drink glasses n glasses,i try not too, then ill be peeing every hour or so,even if i have just a mouthfull it seems ill be goin again but in 2 hrs, its not that cold here so we dont use heating.. i get so tired at times i get really upset over it. i drink water all day
what to do, what to do..lol
Our ducted heating does the same thing to my throat so I have decided to turn the bloody thing off over night and rug up instead! When my DH gets up for work at 6.30am though he turns it on again and within 20 minutes i just can't stand it (the dryness) so I get up tooSometimes I find it helps to put damp things to dry over the ducts in our bedroom.... like a drying rack full of washing. That seems to moisten the air a bit... but i worry about the kids' throats getting too dry which is another reason we don't leave it on over night. If your respiratory tract gets too dry it makes it more agreeable for germs... they prefer it that way... which is another reason we get colds over winter.
Hey hun - dry here too, i wake up coughing like Im dying and we don't leave ours on overnight! Go figure!
Anyway I find that some of the ducts have a pool bit in the bottom and you can tip water into them and that helps or you can put bowls of water over them to help moisten the air, maybe put one over the vent in your room overnight.Hope you get some rest soon!
Living in Canberra the overnight lows are pretty damn chilly - like -4 today - I leave ours on 13 overnight - sounds low but believe me it does kick in.
Anyway, I put the vapouriser on in our room for the last couple of weeks and it has been great - I think I am getting addicted to the white noise of it bubbling away.
Me too Kimbaz - 2 other kiddies in the house - can't afford to lose anymore sleep than necessary!!!
Thanks for some suggestions....i might turn the heater down even lower over night....and try the damp things!
Maybe you could try chewing gum, sucking on butter menthols, hard boiled lollies or mints when your mouth is dry instead of drinking water to lessen the toilet trips??
oh the toilet joys. I have found that the more time goes on the more i pee. Also i find myself pretty much still being nearly all the way asleep when i get up to pee now. Try and keep it that way tho, try not to wake urself up too much so that its easier to go back to sleep. I always drink a 750ml pump during the night. Nothing is going to help me not drink that much coz its just the way my body does things. Its just one of them joys of pregnancy. Hopefully ur body will settle into a better weeing routine so u can get a little more shut eye.
mwah xo
How about keeping the ducts on in the rest of the house, and turning the duct off in your room? Overheating will cause a dry throat. 18 is quite high for overnight. We have ours set at 10 overnight. Try maybe setting it at 14, and go from there.
kim there is stuff call biotene you can get from the chemsit in mouthwash form or a gel that helps keep the mouth lubricated, maybe try rising your mouth with it before bed and if needed during the night instead of drinking heaps of water
Oh i so know how you feel, i have to turn the heating off at night especially because the vent is so close to our bed.
My solution is drink alot, and i mean alot during the day and still take a sml bottle to bed and sip it when your mouth/throat is dry, this is what i did and it has helped heaps. i no longer have to get up during the night at all and if i do its usually around midnight so i still get lots of sleep.
I hope it gets better, nothing worse than being sleep deprived, espeacially during pregnancy.
i am dry aswell and we dont have ducted heating. And im just so un able to get comfortable my hips are hurting it gets to me a lot. there never seems to be enough room in our bed...
i try not to drink too much hrough the night and i still have to go about 3 -5times a night.
Just those pleasures of pregnancy i think Kim..
I to am suffering from the excess drinking and peeing lol. Also have the sinus problem and lack of sleep grrrrrr. I don't have heating so can't blame that but find that i'm drinking over 750ml during the night. Hope it eases off for everyone and me
Kim
