I've heard the same as Christy: sweet things for girls, savoury/meat and veg for boys LOL. I seem to crave more sweet things than anything else, so that doesn't match up considering we've been told we're having a boy!

Nope, definately wives tales because all I wanted to eat was savoury stuff, like sour cream and chives, savoury dips etc...and I had a girl!!

Hope I don't end up craving peppermint freddos - the peppermint chocs are the ones I always leave in the Roses box YUK

At what stage do most people's cravings start??
I'm just over 12 weeks and haven't had any cravings really, although I really enjoy some foods that I would normally not eat a lot of - chips, cheezels, sausage rolls. Did go thru a week or so where I ate avocado every day, didn't crave it, but just really enjoyed having it.

Am starting to wonder what this bub is doing in there as I haven't even had the emotional rollercoaster ride start yet - have been unmotivated but no tears or tantrums YET
Maybe saving it all up for 2nd trimester!!
Or maybe saving it all up for when it comes out!!!

    Loved reading your cravings anyway

Not sure when cravings start. But the other week i wanted crisps and i do not always have them in the house.

With Kimberley i loved having sweet and sour chicken with rice or curry did not go of spicey food at all.

I'm not 100% sure that I have had "cravings" but over the long weekend, I did have a fancy for hot buttered white toast with vegemite. I ate half the loaf!!

I noticed on one thread (somewhere on this enormous site!) that someone commented about eating sausage rolls for morning sickness. I did this, but all that happened was a bit of heartburn and they kept reapeating on me. And I still felt sick.

I am not a sweet tooth normally (I am allergic to chocolate!) and I think it will be a real fight in the household between myself and DH if i become one. He is such a sweet tooth - a lolly doesn't make it through our door! Mind you, we had a bit of a "discussion" about him eating each and every bit of treats that came through the door after shopping. I told him that I had bought some of them because I feel sick and need them whilst pg...and I don't appreciate him scoffing the lot just because he is a bit peckish!!! [-X

I am finding that I am eating chocolate now whereas prior to being pregnant, I couldn't stand the taste.

I am not getting cravings but if I am offered it then I will eat it.

I also have developed an aversion to lettuce in sandwiches it tastes really limp and horrible and I have to pull the lettuce out.

I had my first craving today, I just had to have skittles

Other than that, for lunch today I had a mashed banana and peanut butter sandwich - I had wanted the banana sandwich but saw the peanut butter when I got the bread from the cupboard so I wanted it too! Aaron was disgusted.

    Hi all,
I'm a Newbie here and I'm not sure anyone will even read this, but I am almost 20 weeks and I have been craving. I LOVE strawberry milk (even tho it makes me feel a lil queasy afterwards), chocolate, ham sandwiches (which I usually HATE) and other bits and pieces. I once woke up at 5am CRAVING Iced Chocolates and egg and bacon rolls, needless to say I woke the hubby up and he took me to a 24hr cafe where I filled both cravings in one hit and felt so full he almost had to roll me home! I had a HUGE craving for donuts at one stage, once again hubby got me them as I was sick in bed with a migraine. I craved sarah lee bannana cake for weeks and weeks, and then one day drove past a factory outlet and filled that craving....
I don't usually eat much, I get full pretty quick. Even quicker now I have someone pushing my tummy up, and most of the time I don't even know what I want to eat, but when I find something that I crave, I can eat it till I make myself sick which is so unlike me! Is anyone else like this?
The other funny thing is that I eat, am full, then an hr later am STARVING again to the point that I want to throw up because my tummy is empty again. Do u think this is because my body is making up for the fact that I hardly ate before I fell preg? Also I am not putting on much weight, I have very little energy (but then again my job involves heavy lifting and a lot of walking....I'm an assistant in nursing). It seems I'm losing weight in the face, but staying stable which means what I am losing, bub is gaining....maybe bub is getting all the nutrients?

Oh god.....now I'm sounding paranoid! Well I go for my ultra sound TMW and the anti natal next week. I guess I'll find out then!

    Hello all,
I just read all of your cravings stories.... I gotta tell ya, some of it made me quite hungry, some of it not hungry at all...
Being a bloke, believe it or not, I get cravings every now and then. Not that it's sympathy cravings or anything... this can happen at ANY time... :?
Usually I get urges for Tuna sandwiches. Sometimes with lettuce, sometimes with capers and sundried tomatoes, sometimes with mixed herbs and melted cheese, but as long as it has tuna in it.
I don't know if this counts, but starting a packet of Tim Tams, lollies, potato chips / pringles usually for me leads to having to 'skoff' the whole lot down... Don't know if it's a guy thing or not, but usually doesn't end there though either.. hehehe...
Maybe I jusy like my food (in though mode just like Dory from finding Nemo)... Darn.. I feel like a tuna sandwich now... maybe with some basil and olive oil and some REALLY thin Swiss cheese melted over the top of it.... Oh... and some HOT salami between it all too!!!!
Gotta go... have sandwiches to make... Have to share them too!!!!!

House of the crazy cat ladies...

my pregnancy favourites were an avocado/chicken/pineapple/cheese/mushroom sandwich + a curried egg sandwich + 2 pieces of apple pie (all in the one sitting!) (I used to get this every morning at work for about 2 months!!)
At home I would devour bananas at a rate of about 5 per day, as well as have at least 3 homemade banana and mango smoothies a day...
I was constantly eating as it was the only thing to cure the nausea, so I suceeded in not throwing up once, yet I did put on 37kg throughout my pregnancy...

My cravings have been many but intense - I would tear shops apart in desperation & gorge for a week or two then never want it again!

    lemon sherbert lollies
    perpermint choc icecream
butter chicken sauce (no chicken!) with naan
fudgy chocolate icecream with choc sauce (I'm not a big chocolate eater!)
    raw cauliflower stalks
    mashed potato

now I am up to slightly green bananas (which I HATE but can now eat 4 or 5 in a sitting) and green seedless grapes, which at $20 a kilo is costing me a small fortune!

Funny, I have always been a huge fan of dill pickles but now I cant bear them which hopefully means the radiographer was right and I'm having a girl!

LOL that would be a huuuge pain in the bum, having a craving for roast potatoes! They take so long to cook - I would go nuts waiting for them! I feel like some now LOL!!! I have been craving lots of carbs, which is what they say if you are having a boy

    Hi ladies!

I was wondering how true it is that if you're expecting a girl, you crave sweet things?

With the boys, I didn't have any cravings, apart from hard boiled eggs with Italian dressing on top!

Now I am craving sweet everything, carrot cake, chocolate, orange juice, with roast spuds and lemon juice chucked in to confuse me!!

Anyone had cravings for sweet things and had a boy? \/

Cucmber salad. Can't have enough of it. Preferably with a vinaigrette with lots and lots of balsamic vinegar.
oh and watermelon ! and berries! very big on fruit. always have been but definitely even more so since pregnant.

Sarah, a juicer is a great thing. We got one for our wedding and I've had fresh juices for the first 12 weeks every morning (unfortunately it's in Oz still, bugger...)

I had my first craving the other day, I'd never had a full on craving before but it happened and I couldn't believe how strong it was!

Basically it was orange - I had orange juice, then I wanted orange icy pole, then more juice. Crazy. Stocked up at supermarket but haven't had any craving so strong again.

I do love my twisties though - eat them alot as well as peanut butter and honey on toast - yum! Oh and strawberry yoghurt and banana's and peppermint areo bars - quite a mix!
