Smile ? In Hindsight? Plea to all recent BFP

Thank you for reading on !

I am part of the 1-6 month TTC thread and almost due to move on to the 6+ thread... we naturally always get very excited when any one of us finally gets that and congratulate before they move on...
and then we quietly hope and pray that it will be us next...wondering what we should have done differently ...what we did wrong ...

So I am wondering if all the recent would like to share what exactly they did in that very cycle leading up to getting that BFP !

Thank you ever so much , and i am really looking forward to read about all your stories of success

Gecko, the main thing we did differently is we signed up to do IVF with ICSI and we assumed that as we had been trying for a while and that we had just been told our chances of getting a natural BFP were less than 5% that we wouldn't get PG naturally. So we DTD only twice that cycle, I didnt take the clomid (it made me a crazy b***h) and when I did do the ovulation blood test it showed that I hadn't even o'd. So we threw in the towel for that cycle in preparation for Christmas and starting our IVF journey in Jan 09. Seems that I did o but later than we thought I would...

Then I had to wait for AF to start the treatment and guess what? BFP.

I know you have heard these stories before and believe me I would have happily gouged out the eyes of the next person to tell me to just relax and let nature takes its course - there is no way I thought that would happen for us. And it did. And there is really no reason for that. It just happened. The only difference for me was that I relaxed because I kind of gave up on getting pg by ourselves and was pleased to be handing that responsibility over to "experts".

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Good Luck!

    Rachel

I think from memory you are charting? When I decided to start TTC I started charting, I found this so helpful and also if I had not I would have had no hope as I just assumed that I ovulated on day 14-16 of my cycle when in fact I do not o until day 28-29.
The month I concieved we started DTD once a day, every second day from when I first noticed fertile CM which happened to be 9 days before I o'd, we continued to do so until I noticed my temperature shift.

I believe that the charting (watching my CM and temping in particular) and timing with DTD really was the major factor in getting our BFP.

Gecko, I wish you the best of luck and really hope it is your turn soon .

For us, I had gotten tired of the charting and no results at the end of the month so I gave up on the temping, recording CM, everything, just let it all go and shrugged my shoulders and thought whatever. That month, got the BFP.

    Hi Gecko

I have my fingers crossed for you for this month!

The things we did the month we conceived were:
    - I was charting (had been for 3 months - used Fertility Friend, the VIP membership)
    - I was checking CM and other fertile signs and logging them in FF
    - I used digital OPK's - the smiley face made it so easy to know when I was fertile
    - we used Pre-Seed when we DTD
    - we only DTD twice - on days 13 and 16 for memory

    Best of luck!!

With our successful months, I knew I had a 27-28 day cycle, so we DTD on day 13 & 15. We may have done it at other times, but I made sure we did it on those days. I did try out the MaybeBaby but it never gave me a definate. Other than that I didn't do anything like CM, temping, charting, as I knew it would make me more anxious.

I had also gone to see the Dr who confirmed me and DH were in good health and then just tried to let mother nature take its course. (of course DH would say I was POAS every day to see if we were succesful.... and he unfortunately is right!) It is hard to relax about the whole thing, but from what the others say, it is a pretty common thing to have success when you do let go.

It wasn't recent but the thing I did differently on the cycle that my son resulted from was I gave up altogether. I seriously had given up any hope of having a baby & wasn't even taking any vitamins & was majorly stressed at the time (stress is supposedly bad for conception) and was living on coffee & chocolate (so that whole avoid caffeine thing is a crock IMHO), didn't time DTD, just did it when I felt like it, but was still charting for some odd reason. I guess what I'm saying is try to just relax and not do anything special & it just might happen for you.

mine wasn't that recent (last year) but what we did the cycle we conceived was:

    - charted CM in FF (had done this over about 2-3 months so i was at the stage where i actually recognised what my body was doing, i'd never really taken any notice before)
    - we used pre-seed once or twice
    - i had accupuncture & took chinese herbs the week leading up to ovulation - it was my first visit to the acupuncturist so we didn't really focus on conception as she wanted me to hold off for a couple of cycles to let my body get into gear, although she did look at points for regulating my cycle (i had around a 35-39 day cycle) but the herbs were all about general health & relaxtion
    - i also tried out an opk in that cycle & so we DTD on the day w got a positive - but we tried to just DTD regularly during the month (i didn't want DP to feel solely like a sperm bank or that we were working on a 'project' iykwim? it sort of takes away from the enjoyment of it all!)

of those things, the pre-seed, AC & OPK were all things we used for the 1st time in the cycle we got the BFP so i have no idea which one (if any!) made the difference! i do highly rec acupuncture though because i was going through the most stressfgul time as work & i really felt like it helped me relax.

good luck i hope to read about your BFP soon!

I wasn't trying at all. I stopped getting my period at the beginning of the year mysteriously. I hardly had sex either! AND we used protection! So it was a total fluke lol.

I never charted or paid attention to my CM as it confused me & I didn't really know what I was looking for in that regard. I just used an OPK instead as it seemed easier for me. Mine was just one from the supermarket, nothing special anyway.
Got positive on OPK on day 15, DTD that day & day 16. Had also DTD before I got the positive, I think day 13 from memory.
Good luck with getting your very own very soon!!

We had been trying for quite a few months with no success and my GP sent me to an OB/GYN who sent me for an ultrasound to check that everything was O.K. At that ultrasound the lady doing it told me that i had an egg ready on my right side. She told me the measurement and I knew that I should ovulate within the next two days. We had been DTD for a couple of days before that appointment but after she told me that info we just kept on doing it and that's when we got our BFP.

Gecko - My cycles were all over the place so I used Fertility Friend and charted temps and CM and used OPK's.
    My successful cycle:
-Was long - I didn't ovulate until day 33 which was my longest cycle ever.
-Had 6 positive OPK's before I ovulated. I knew I ovulated then because I was temping as well.
    -Had very little fertile CM
-Had started accupuncture that cycle on about day 21 I think
-DTD alot because I wasn't sure when I would ovulate with all those +ve OPK's

I was on my last cycle before I was to move to the 6mth + TTC too, so hang in there and good luck with your BFP!

We had given up and like many others thought 'oh well we will see what happens'
I had seen a FS who said I should have no trouble falling with clomid. So I felt better about that to start with. I was sent to have a heap of blood tests, back to see FS the following week and I thought I better do a preg test (I thought as normal, no 2nd line like the millions of other HPT I had done) and to our surprise, BFP!

I always read about how people take a break or give up and then fall pregnant and I thought it would never happen to me. I ovulate 3 or 4 times a year if I am lucky (PCOS) so it was such a pleasant surprise.

Good luck, I am sure it will be your turn next. I seriously didn't think it would be my turn for quite a while!

    Hi Gecko

Firstly I want to say - never give up

I'll give you a little background about me first of all. Ds1 was conceived on the pill, when he was 15mo we decided to try again for #2. Never in our dreams did we realise how long that would take. After a couple of laps, endless rounds of clomid (IVF was never an option for us), 3 years later we conceived Ds2 (on the third cycle of clomid). After he was born we decided that we would not go on birth control and try for #3. Again, endless rounds of clomid, laps, other tests, more fertility drugs and finally a diagnosis of PCOS (having numerous breaks from TTC just for sanity reasons) we finally fell pg 10 years later, sadly that ended in m/c. 18 months later (yes, more clomid, more tests - a couple more sessions of breaks) and I'm finally pg again.

I had charted since my m/c and only in Jan/Feb this year decided to give charting a break - at the same time I also took a break from actively TTC. Because of my age, I talked DH into giving it one more try - just another 6 months - if nothing happened then, I was happy to let go. I had him agree to go have a sperm analysis and had actually been to see my gyno to get the request forms for that and for blood tests for me and for another script for yet another fertility drug. Little did I know at the time I was already pg (conceived naturally). All those request forms are still sitting on my bedside table.

On this cycle, I O'd on day 14/15 (I actually feel O pains) and we DTD on days 11, 13 & 16. The chart is attached to my signature, although I did have to override it, as FF changed my O day to day 27.

All the best, I hope that your BFP is only around the corner. Remember miracles do happen. (BTW, I got my BFP for my birthday, bub is due for Christmas - couldn't ask for a nicer pressie.)

    Hi

I just saw your post and wanted to let you know about me.

My first pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage took me nearly one year which I was charting. My second pregnancy we tried for four months and then I went to acupuncture and took chinese herbs and after three months I conceived. We did the 'sperm meets egg plan' on the month I conceived although i didn't get a positive on the ovulation tests so we just did it every second day and voila we fell pregnant. I am pregnant again after three months of trying following the same acupuncture/herbs and dtd every second day only on the month I conceived though (got a bit slack with the ovulation tests).

I totally recommend the traditional chinese medicine approach.

    Good luck
