When Sam was on stage one formula he would only poo every four days. He wasn't constipated and nothing we did made him go more often... That's just the way he was. I have heard it said of BF babies that once every 10 days or 10 times every day is normal and so is everything in between!
Smithy, when it comes to your little one's constipation problem, I'd seriously consider ditching the thickened formula. I have been told that S26 is notorious for causing constipation, so I'd try a completely different brand of formula before doing things like watering it down and so on. It is completely normal for babies to feed frequently at that age, too.
Now... I'm a little afraid of what I'm about to say next and how it could be taken, but I feel like I need to just say it anyway. For those who are starting their babies on solid foods very early, please, please PLEASE make sure that you are aware of what you are doing! It's something I was extremely paranoid about with Sam as he is high risk of developing food allergies, but we waited and he seems fine so far, thankfully. But I do know of a couple of babies that were started early (as in before 4 months old) and both now have severe food allergies and intolerances that will be with them for life. My nephew who was started on solid food at 4 months old also has issues with allergies. PLEASE look into what you could be doing to your babies and be sure that you are making the right decision for your family, not just doing it because it seems like fun.
I honestly do hope that I haven't offended anyone, it's just something I feel VERY strongly about because of the research we did when looking at Sam starting solid food and knowing what has happened to other babies who were started on solids early.
