Hi mitf, welcome and congratulations! Hope you're enjyoing your newborn nuggles.

Happy half birthday Charlie - that really went fast!

You sound so positive Murph! Christmas isn't that far away really.

Hi MissMagpie. Wow at suddenly having 2 kids. Your DSD is so lucky to have a loving family to give her a second chance. I know we all fret about being good parents and doing the best we can, but some kids really never stand a chance, do they?
sounds like Trent is doing very well too!

Hope you're enjoying your time away Grub.

I'm back at work at the moment. so poping into bb every few minutes because my work is soooo boring.
Trying to get A to sleep with blankets on. Last night he kept waking up cold "mummy. put the blankets on" Well, yeah, stop kicking it off, and why don't you just pull it up yourself anyway? He's talking a mile minute with no break from teh moment he gets up to the time he drops off at night. It's exhausting.

mitf: Welcome aboard the mummy train. I've been secretly following the pg thread to see how many gradutes will be joining us mummies. Wow so many of you are due to come across soon. Enjoy every minute of your new little man as they grow so fast and feel free to ask as many q's as you need as these little one's really need an instruction manual.

Marcellus: Yuck for being back at work, but at least you don't have too long before you finish up anyway. Oh, I had a little chuckle at A and the constant talking thing.... We went for a drive on Sunday and for and hour and a half straight all Tara did was growl non stop, it really did our head in so can only imagine how shattered you must be having constant chatter all day.

Big hello to everyone else, hope you are all doing well.

Things still going good for us although I think another tooth is making it's break for freedom as Tara has been cranky today and grinding her teeth like made, bbbrrrrr hopefully it will come through in the next few days. Finally we are cycling again for our FET, AF came early so start meds tomorrow and scan on the 19th to see how things are progressing - for all the girls on FB I'm not saying anything so I'll keep you all updated via BB. Anyway better be off as DH is doing dinner and it's almost ready. Take care.

    Lyla is 1!

    Hi girls,

Sorry to being MIA and then storming in here for a very ME post. Lyla is one today! Just thought I announce it here. Both DH and I came and pick her up early from childcare. She had a cake to share with the other kids and then home to open her presents.

I can't express how happy I am that my girl is one and all that she has achieved over the year. DH has just completed putting together a video clip, a collection of special moments over the past year. I can't believe how she had grown and how early her personality showed and progressively strengthened.

Welcome Mift, I am sure that despite sleepless nights you will not trade your LO for anything. Enjoy every moment for 1 year fly by very fast.

Kelly, good luck with your cycle. Guess I will be going alone early next year for #2... lets cross our fingers as I insist and will you to succeed in this cycle!

    Hi to everyone else.

Hi girls - like BW I have been reading but not posting. We are rather busy at the moment with trying to find a house - we have a lovely 2 bed, 2 storey apartment in a beautiful central suburb in Melbourne, but we are fast running out of space with Miss Jazzy getting bigger and more active by the day. So the time has come to upgrade. We are so fortunate to be in the position where we are going to keep our apartment and turn it into an investment property - we figure if it doesn't work out we can always sell it down the track and make a nice profit on it. You gotta just bite the bullet and try sometimes! So very anxious about it all at the moment and we are freaking out about how much debt we will be in, but then we will also have a lot of assets. Going to an auction this weekend in the suburb next 2 us for a beautiful 3 bed, 2.5 bathroom, 2 storey townhouse with courtyard. Way bigger than what we have at present and to have a little outside area will be just heaven! The whole back of the ground floor of the house opens up with lovely bi-folds so would be wonderful in the summer. We have set a really strict budget, so really not sure how we will go. Trying hard not to get too emotionally invested in this property. I know if this one doesn't work out another one will just be around the corner.

Next to freaking out about the above, Jazzy has now gone on to have a total of 4 febrile convulsions. It is happening pretty much everytime she spikes a fever at the moment. We have had discussions with the Paed and he says that unfortunately it looks like she is just one of the unlucky few that this happens to. He said that we should expect numerous convulsions up until she is 2, tapering off to occassional from 2-3 and then hopefully none after the age of 3. The only way to stop them is to put Jazzy on full time epilepsy medication, which obviously comes with its own set of problems. Paed said that because the convulsions are not harmful and cause no long term damage that he does not like putting a child as young as her on daily medication. So looks like we are just going to have to ride it out. As scary as it is, I have to say that I am getting a little calmer with them - sounds terrible to say, but it is amazing what you can cope with when you have to get used to it!

Jazzy is going from strength to strength - she is a talking/walking/running machine! Just the cheekiest, cutest little button I have ever seen (not that I'm biased!) She is LOVING nursery now. She NEVER cries at drop off anymore and actually really looks forward to getting in there. It is making being back at work 3 days a week so much easier. They do so much stuff there that I just can't do with her at home - mainly because we don't have an outdoor area (which may change soon fingers crossed!)

I will try and get back later to catch up properly with you all - sorry about the ME post girls, there just never seems to be enough time at the moment.

    Hi ladies,

thanks for the welcome, I still can't really believe that I actually have a little baby to write about after everything we went through. I guess the surreal feeling dies away at some stage but for now we're still enjoying just gazing at Finn in wonder.

So far he's been pretty good with sleeping at night although we're finding it somewhat difficult to settle him during the day at times after feeding. Yesterday he decided that two hourly feeds was the way to go form 9-5 so I didn't really get a lot done though thank goodness he then went 4 and then 5 hours at night. Feeding wise, well we had a few issues at hospital with lack of colostrum and attachment so had to use nipple shields and now he won't feed without them. My boobs are relatively big and apparently my nipples are flat so it seems the nipple shield helps. I was a little concerned but the maternal and child health nurse said not to worry about it at all so i'm feeling a little better though still worried about all the things i've read...

Another question for all you wise mums - how long does it take to get into something vaguely resembling a routine? Or is that just completely wishful thinking at this stage?!

Hope everyone is going well - I promise to start doing persies next time

Thanks for all your responses re routines ladies, I must admit i'm feeling a lot better now! I was wondering when I would work out the difference between a hungry, bored, sore tummy, over tired cry etc, and wondering when he might start setting into a more predictable routine. After all, the books say by now he should be in a regular pattern but alas he musn't have read that one! I think i'll be ignoring the books and just going with the flow. One more question though - now that Finn has regained his birth weight we've moved to demand feeding rather than waking him every 3 hours etc. At night he actually goes 6-7 hours without a feed - should I be waking him sooner or just letting him go until he wakes himself for a feed? I'm taking him to the clinic to get weighed again tomorrow but just interested in your thoughts regarding waking him for feeds versus just letting him dictate feeding times...

Kelly - hope you're coping well with your cycle as well as a baby. I know I was emotional enough when I was stimming so wishing you all the very best!

Greenslw - glad that DH is going to be home looking after Linc and you can focus on work without having to stress about other things also

BOC - have you had a lovely weekend at home with JD and DH!

Murph - glad to hear about the Lions club chipping in for Jaz, must be such a relief.

Smithy - hope you have a lovely anniversary with DH

Marcellus - thanks for the tips. I think i'm going to call ABA as even with the nipple shields (which are indeed a nuisance!!) my boobs are still hurting half the time so think we might still be having some attachment issues or something...

Big hello to everyone else and apologies for the lack of persies. Finn has decided it's feeding time again so my computer time has come to an abrupt end. Hope everyone is well xx

    Hi ladies,

wow, can't believe i'm finally able to post in here, feels like a dream come true!!

My gorgeous little boy, Finn, finally arrived 7 July fashionably late (EDD was 28 June) and just before his scheduled induction! He was 8 pounds 3 ounces and 51cm long and I had a reasonable labour. We've been home now for a couple of days and he so far has been an absolute angel - we have to wake him for most, if not all his feeds, though i'm sure this won't last long...!

Can I ask a question already please?! I've had quite swollen feet and ankles since his birth which the midwives assured me was quite normal. It's okay during the day but come night time when i'm finally resting and putting my feet up they suddenly balloon up and my feet get a bit tingly. Did anyone else experience this? If so, how long did it last? I've been told anywhere from a couple of days to 3+ weeks! Also - did you find anything in particular helped to relieve it? I've got some tight stocking thingys, but was wondering about massage, resting up more, walking more etc...

Anyway ladies, can't wait to read about where you're all up to - seems like years ago I was in the pregnancy after LTTTC thread with some of you, and looking forward to getting to know the rest of you.

    cheers,
    lise xx

Yay for making it over here Lise, and big congrats on the arrival of Finn. As for your question, yep same thing happened for me. 3 days after delivery my feet seemed to explode and did get worse when I put them up to try and get the swelling to go down, I even slept some nights with them raised on a pillow to help relieve some of the pressure. It probably took a good couple of weeks before I could put proper shoes back on ie: not wear slippers all the time.
