    Hi Everyone

MHB: You had better hit the Big W baby sale to get your Car Seat and Pram. As much as DH's are helpful I would hate for your little boy to arrive and that you have to rely on your DF to get the right stuff for you.

Mels: Good to see you are still with us but not for much longer it seems.

Excited today as we are 30 weeks . Never thought in a million years I would get to this stage and there are so many of us now progressing well that we will all be mummy's so soon.

I have been a bit under the weather the last couple of days. Had bad gastro Wednesday night and yesterday along with some dizzyness and lightheadedness, DH had a cold last week and I think he brought a bug into the house. Luckily I'm feeling better today so hopefully nothing more will come of it. Baby has been quiet the last couple of days as well, probably as I'm feeling under the weather and I think she has her back to my tummy so feeling movement is limited when she lays like that.

Anyway I also wanted to rub it in that it is a beautiful sunny day today and I am sitting out on my deck enjoying basking in the sunshine with my belly all exposed. I even had to hunt in my wardrobe for some spring clothes that would fit and shock horror I've even exposed my lily white winter legs as well. Luckily I live in the bush on some land so I can't offend the neighbours. Well off the last anti natal class tomorrow, hope you all have a good weekend.

Well I've just spent the best part of half an hour reading, so I know you don't expect me to do the full list of persies today .

I can't believe I read your post Kaydee and forgot to say what I was thinking .....Great news and Congratulations!!! I was very moved to hear of the lovely safe delivery of Jarrod and Teneille and hope you enjoy the busy babymoon time ahead.

I'm going to stick with a few comments to KellyD for now as we are closest and I seem to be like a voodoo doll that she keeps sticking pins in. Whatever you go through Kelly, seems to happen to me! Stop it now... seriously. So the night of your birth suite twist and turn, guess who did the same? Again, she has righted herself but things are still mightily uncomfy and squishy. I had my first antenatal class and had a great bunch of people. I thought I'd be an oldie and with all young teen mums or something but they are a lovely lot and closer to my age (about 12 of us) and some with a bit of a hippy bent like me we'll miss the second class on labour can you believe? That's when I go to Townsville so timing sucks a bit. Ooh the subject material gets a bit grim hey and yowsers dont some of those pictures make you cross your legs, especially in front of the fellas!

Ahh but the best bit of my class was that I learnt one vital bit of information, the ferry has a 24 hour emergency contact through 000 and they will operate for me if in labour after hours. Yayyyy, the whole family have been freaking just a tad trying to work out the birth logistics. The other great thing is that I met another couple who live over the river too. Double yay..we're in the same boat..(haha or ferry)

And just a follow up for all my lonely ramblings of last time I wrote, well i just had my second visitors come up to see us, my auntie and uncle from Melb and they brought stacks of pressies from my mum. Mum is coming up from Melb. herself in September and again for the birth in November and staying for two weeks which is excellent. I'm also going to see a whole stack of my rellies in Townsville next week so I'm getting exactly what the doctor ordered, a good home baked dose of southern lovin!

I have heaps more to say Grub, don't think you can even come close to out ranting me girly. I actually hold back! Haha

Great to hear everyone is doing so well, except the MS girls. Might be time for a bit of intervention hey? Everyone else, good luck and take care.xo

anyone elses bub get hiccups constantly, mine gets it at least once a day and its quite uncomfy on my bladder and it worries me a bit, it seems to be after i do a bit of physical labour such as house work, maybe he gulps fluid to fast or something? anyway I have my appointment on thursday for my bloods then an exam on friday! i cant wait to finish this degree!

Mels77 - you are next! then me!

    Hey Lydia,
sorry to hear about the latest addition to the range of wonderful symptoms pregnancy has blessed us with. I too have been hoping I don't get one of those damned haemarrhoids (sp?) and heeding all advice to eat prunes I actually don't think they work that well on me but I love them so much anyway and figure it can't hurt. I am going to try the juice cos I googled "how many prunes is enough?" and most advise ooh, anything up to 6 prunes...hee hee, I have to stop myself at about 18!!! Still no action happens for a couple of days so I guess I'm just sluggish and slow (oops TMI).

OMG less than 30 days for you now, that's so great. I really hope you have a smooth birth experience and just get that little bugger to behave himself. Hope the last minute shopping is fun for you and not left til you are too big to get around comfortably. I checked out the Big Dub specials online and was going to make a mess of the pay account when we are in townsville until I realised DH's PhD scholarship money has been cut off..WTF??? God it's great dealing with universities and government departments. so here we are in limbo again for the third time in this past almost four years being cut out of the pay system...gotta love incompetency. the first time it took about 6 months to get it sorted again. Ha ha, i am now working the total of one Saturday shift so should be a great laugh for while. Luckily he has a side earner trapping wild dogs and has bagged 5 this week alone! anyway, there is always a spare credit card to max out in extreme emergencies (such as a Big Dub sale I only have to buy a car seat really too.

As for your hiccups, I was just saying to DH today that I wouldn't know if I felt them and he didn't know that babies get them inside, so fat lot of help that is. I guessed that it might be a bit of a regular kind of feeling but can you explain what it's like? I sometimes feel like I can feel her having a wee, if that's possible...just a tad freaky

Hope you are all having a good day.

    Hey Murph,

I have experiences baby hiccups and trust me, you know it when it happens lol! It kinda feels like someone is having a tennis rally on the inside. Your tummy jumps up or spasms each time the baby hic's. Its totally weird. My baby used to decided to put his feet under my rib cage and sttttrrretttchhh every time he got the hiccups so I used to contort like a circus acrobat. I used to have to sit or lie down no matter where I was.

I think it happens alot if the baby is a thumbsucker as mine was. How crazy is it that they suck their thumbs in-utero!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

    Sammie.

    Hi Everyone

Just thought I would drop in and let you know we had our last 4 hr anti natal class today. Learnt all about c/s births (which was really beneficial for me) and also got an overview on Breast Feeding, Wrapping Baby and Settling Baby to Sleep. They also discussed things like PND and even seperated the classes (dad's in one room and mum's in other), in the mum's room we discussed fun things like tearing and stitches, bleeding and what pad's to bring into hospital, 3rd day baby blues and contraception and resuming your BDing. I personally thought having a brand new baby and sleep deprivation would be the perfect form of contraception IYKWIM. DH told me that they talked about the change in roles for us mum's and about the physical & emotional effects having a baby has on us and they also discussed PND and how to look out for the signs.

So now we are all pepared with as much information as we can gather and now just have to wait patiently for bubs to arrive, although she was being a monkey again today in class and decided it would be fun to stretch her legs out but give me massive pains in my right side (like a stitch). I don't think she really likes me sitting around for too long and does these things to get me up and moving...

Anyway DH is taking me to the pub for dinner tonight to watch the footy. We have realised that we better make the most of these last few weeks as a couple as before we know it we will be 3.

Well hi all. Just checking in to see that everyone is doing fine. I am plodding along. got all of Campbells old baby clothes out today and have put them into soak for a day or two. they are very yellow as Campbell has chronic reflux. I dont know if i will be able to use them again. Which brings me to the hiccups. When I was preg with Campbell he always had the hiccups it becam quite annoying really. And now he still has the hiccups all the time. He is unfortunate in that the valve that closes of his stomache which usually matures around six months of age has not matured so any pressure on his stomach makes hi vomit even now, so I hope this is not a sign. I
was told it is from the baby swallowing fluid.

Went to the baby expo yesterday, got some bargins a nappy bag, a sling and a play mat. Also got a sleeping feeding bar, so wish I had of bought one with campbell. Have a question when did you start wearing maternity bras?

hey saph, poor little campbell. did the docs say when the flappy thing would mature??

as for maternity bras, I waited til 20 weeks and then went to DJs and got properly fitted. I went from a 12B to a 16C. I never would have gone up to a 16 if i didn't have a lady doing a proper fitting as usually I'm a size 12 and i would have only thought to go up one size at most.

apparently your milk ducts develop on the sides as well so you have to make sure the cup encapsulates the whole lot.

anyhoo, I bought 2 good bras for DJs (wasn't even taht exxy) and now just going to pick up a couple of cheapies and some materity singlets from big dub.

I was told at the fitting that your boobs go up and down in size and to make sure you still have room for a bit of give.

    hope that helps.

Hey weekend posters! Well it seems I haven't experienced the hiccups myself yet so no reflux. thanks for the descriptions though, I'll know what to watch out for it and it sounds like there is no mistaking the feeling. I feel like I'm running out of time for those big movements I've been warned about (kicks to the nether regions and ones that take your breath away) because won't she be running out of room soon, or is that just wishful thinking?

KellyD, sounds like a better week at your ante natal class, thanks for stopping in to update us. Still it sounds a bit full on and I don't think I could sit still for 4 hours in an intense class like that either so I don't blame your little one's impatience.

Grub, I did the same thing with the maternity bra fitting - all the same as you and went the 12b to the 16c, though it's not as big a shock for me cos I did the same when I got fitted for my strapless push up for my wedding dress only got pushed up into 16DD (woohoo)! I think you just go for style and comfort and if you're still not fitting by the time they reach the 20s, just stop looking at the size. I can't imagine you poor old Miss Magpie, I remember you getting enormous in the early days I was told about the milk ducts and that you need to be able to make a fist inside your bra so that when the milk comes in there is room for expension. i didn't think of any of that, just wanted to lift those puppies! Anyway, I spent $60 and didn't find it comfortable and reverted to my one good old faithful regular bra that still fits. I do need to revise that situation, right up there with the reggies (jocks), but I hate underwear shopping even more than I hate wearing it.

i wasn't going to tell you this but since it's just us, Smithy when I read your post I cracked myself up big time. Given some of our recent posts about prunes, I thought you were saying you'd gone a bit far and "pruned your pants", a different mental picture altogether and not even prefaced with a TMI warning!!. Talk about roll around laughing. You go girl!!!

murph your a crack up hun BUT glad i didnt pruned my pants yukkkkkkk imagine what the kids would say to me "oh mum you stink " how shame mum....

on the other side but funny you should say this because i only said to mum and coop the other day if i poo on the labour table I DONT WANT TO KNOW RITE . ( SEE THE THINGS IM THINKING OF OMG SMITHY )

Mel thanks for the info I'm so glad they give a list I'm not a light packer! Wow next in line what an honor.

KellyD congrats on 30weeks Oh your picture of the deck and the sun is making me feel warm. hope it was wonderful.

Hi Murph, I've been having allbran and prunes in the hope to avid that trap but I guess some things are unavoidable.

Saph, the baby expo isn't in Adel until I'm a mummy but I guess I can go with a baby instead of a bump. HOpe you got some cool stuff.

Grub I like the idea of being fitted although it it is still a bit odd but better comfort.

Well (drumm Roll) DP popped the question!!!!!!!!! I'm finally a fience!!!!!!!! I'm so happy.

The boat home was awful 3m swell and so much wind. Really glad to be on solid land although my body isn't there yet. We only got to see 2 of our friends and will have to tell the rest via phone before the rumors get there first. Feeling so relaxed which is so good. On to another week. with more energy

    CONGRATULATIONS GREENSLW!!!!

how'd he do it??? have you got the ring??? just wonderful news... big year for you isn't it! Are you going to hop down the aisle before bubs or take your leisurely time afterwards?

Murph, whose the dag now lady lol! don't worry i often have to reread posts and have read some very odd things.

but just on the jocks situation... I went and got me four pairs of mens, size large after a week of stealing DHs

best thing i ever did. They go around the belly, don't ride up like the maternity bonds undies and (warning TMI) provide plenty of room for those somewhat larger girl bits. lol. so no more suffering in your jocks murph! haahahahahahaha

Also, KellyD you also inspired me... i was out this weekend lapping up the sunshine too.

Big thumbs up smithy for feeling better and for getting to the fun bit ... shopping!

    oxoxo
ps having roast lamb for dinner. just wanted to rub that in! oh and DH not only polished my work shoes for me but washed my car woot woot. think he can stay.

CONGRATS GREENSLW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG so exciting. I am a total wedding freak. Love them. Can't get enough. Want to have more of my own (to DH of course) but can't really admit that in real life because I know how craaaazy it sounds. But seriously, I want to get married in a field of flowers, on a beach, have a rock n roll vintage style vegas wedding, ah, delish!

Now, ladies, can I ask some advice?? I am a bit worried. I don't want to cause a silly fuss, but I just feel a bit odd. I have been counting my contractions, and at last count, I had 5 in 15 minutes. But they're not getting stronger, nor more painful (they are somewhat painful, but certainly not excrutiating), but I do realise that it is a lot. But maybe that's just normal for me?

I have read lots online and I seem to have some of the symptoms of pre labour but not all, and given my experience last week, I know I should probably just call the dr, but I don't know if I'm over-reacting.

Anyone else having frequent Braxton Hicks? Maybe this is just my twin tummy getting ready???

argh! don't know what to do

(and don't want to unnecessarily panic DH - espec at 8.30pm on a Sunday night)

Ooh, JenC, I'm sorry I've got nothing for you but wanted to let you know I just read your post and will try to get some info from my ante natal stuff. It does sound like a lot of contractions but I have no experience yet. My body is going crazy tonight with uncomfortable BH too. If in doubt tell someone, who cares if it's a false alert, just last week you were in hosi right? Anyway, at least tell DH, is there anything that exciting on telly on a Sunday night? Good luck, I'll check on you and hope things have settled down.xox

Okay JenC, are you still with us or packing your bags? To identify the difference between BH and labour contractions:

    labour contractions have rhythmic quality;
    develop into pattern of increasing intensity over time, become more regular and lasting longer;
walking or being upright makes them stronger (resting or lying down like with BH does not make them go away)

Things to consider: once the contractions are coming regularly, (every 5 mins or so), are lasting up to 60 secs or more and becoming fairly strong, it is likely that your cervix is starting to open and labour is established.

If the contractions are 5 mins apart or more and not painful, cervix may just be thinning but not dilating.

Labour contractions are like period crampy and lower back pain.

I'm not saying this is happening but sure sounds like you have a case to talk to the doctor and DH about. Either way, don't rely on my dodgy 3rd hand information. Good luck.

    Thanks Murph - you're lovely.
I called hosp - and they said it sounds like irritable uterus, so to take some panadol, pop a heatpack on my tummy, and try to relax, and then see what happens.
If pain doesn't subside, or contractions don't subside, to call them again.
So that's the immediate plan of attack
Have spent the last half hour or so reading about irritable uterus, and it does sound exactly like what I'm experiencing, so will chat to my ob about it on thurs at next appt.

Jen how are you travelling? Did they go away? Hope your resting up take care and keep us updated. xx

AFM - just a quick one - i ended up in hospital yesterday withwhat they thought initially to be a listeria infection but in the end more likely a viral gastro . God i felt dreadful - the other issue was that my bp was through the roof and i had protein and blood in my urine so i'm at home now resting feeling so much better i have to go back tom to check bp and urine again so it will have soreted itself.

Take care everyone - remember how precious our cargo is and rest up!
