Welcome, TL! Very happy to have you here. Can't comment on Brisbane OBs though.

I had a bit of a lightbulb moment last night and reading Miss C's words this morning has triggered some more thoughts... I've figured out what some of my problems are - again, just need the time to put it all in words. I'm sure I'll feel better when I do, but time is the problem, and energy... and just to top it all off, I think I'm coming down with a cold!

Anyway, must get back to work...

    Hi everyone

TiggerLinda ? huge congratulations to you and welcome to the thread! You must be over the moon! Wishing you a wonderful and trouble-free pregnancy and loads of stickyvibes.

miss_c ? Thanks for your thoughts hun. I bought a hot water bottle last night and have had it up against my back. Definitely seems to help, and I sleep with a pillow between my knees as well.
Great news about DH?s job and being able to find a place to live, I hope you can get nice and settled very soon. And fantastic news that all seems to be going well with bubs, it?s so reassuring to see or hear that heartbeat. Can?t believe you?re getting so close to 20 weeks! I?m really glad that you?re getting excited!

BW ? glad to hear that you are doing OK, if a bit exhausted and overwhelmed. I?m finding my desk job a bit much, so I can imagine that the teaching load would be really stressful. I hope you can put your thoughts into words soon and get them out there, I?m sure that will help to clarify things for you. And as miss_c said, anything you feel is OK. I hope that cold stays away!

Shannon ? it must be an amazing feeling to feel both your babies kicking and moving around inside you! I can imagine it must be really scary to think that your babies might have to be born premature, and all that that entails. I hope your OB is just being very cautious and she will let you go for much, much longer than that. Your poor little girl not putting on much weight! I hope her greedy big brother gives her some room!! My DH is a twin, and his brother was bigger than him, and also squashed his leg, poor little guy. He was born smaller and stayed in hospital another week, but he turned out more than fine and he has very nice legs! I?m sure both your little bubbas will be just fine. I hope you can get some answers and reassurances from your OB at your next appointment.

I?m still feeling a bit anxious. But then I think, surely I can?t be so unlucky as to have two missed miscarriages in a row? Surely not now that I?m over 14 weeks? That would be too unlucky, so everything must be OK (I know, not terribly rational). Still, I?m considering calling the midwife who?s in on Fridays and asking if she can do a quick scan for me tomorrow. Haven?t decided yet though. Maybe I should stick it out till Monday? I just really want to know that little bubs is OK.

Big hugs to scooby, numa, Janie and ellie ? how are you girls doing?

Yay so happy to see you here Linda Lol my Ob is lovely but everytime i see her i think ok i need to get her a makeover! I have heard wonderful things about Christopher Price and the hospital has a great reputation and were really great when i had surgery there.

Devon - i dont think rationality comes into this whole pregnancy thing I am surprised they havent given you another scan to put your mind at ease so you dont have to worry about another missed miscarriage. I would definately give them a call and try and get in tomorrow, if they say no well no harm no foul, However if they say yes you will feel a lot better

Hey TL - so great to see you in this thread! Yay!

I went to the Ob yesterday - second visit. I've decided I like her a lot, was able to ask lots of questions, no rush. I found out the labour wards have a bath available which made me happy. During the consult here was a power surge or something and her ultrasound machine refused to come back on! So I got to hear the baby's heartbeat instead - wow . DH was grinning from ear to ear.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

    Hi everyone

Ooh, it's getting a little busier in here!

Queenh - congratulations and welcome to the thread!! Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy and looking forward to chatting.

Numa - bad timing about the power surge at the hospital! Really glad you got to hear your baby's heartbeat though, that's very reassuring even if you didn't get to have a look.

Scooby - so sorry you had a disappointing appointment yesterday. I completely understand that you're worried now, but I am sure that everything is fine with your baby. There's no reason why the HB would be too slow, or s/he would be too small, I'm certain you've got a very healthy bub in there. Still, I'd be might peeved to have to wait another two weeks!

TL - sorry to hear that you're worrying . If it's any consolation, I had loads of AF type cramps early on, I was so certain that AF was coming before I got my BFP, and the cramps continued for quite a while afterwards. And the ms is so variable for each woman, there's quite a large percentage who don't get it at all ? maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones? I can't quite remember, but I'm sure I didn't get it until after 6 weeks, maybe even 7 weeks. I do hope you get a little, just enough to put your mind at ease.

Janie - not long till your scan now!! Two more sleeps, it will be here before you know it! I'll keep everything crossed that your bub is doing great.

Ellie - it must feel strange to feel good all of a sudden after being so ill. Maybe the rest in hospital and the drip have caused the ms to subside? But not unusual for it just to disappear I think, it went away for me pretty much overnight, which freaked me out. Plus, for some women it goes away for a few days and then comes back again. Is there any way you could get a quick reassurance scan if you're really worried? Holding out for another 24 days is tough. Sending you big I'm sure everything is fine but the waiting is just so hard.

Big for Shan, miss_c, BW oh no, who have I missed? Can I blame it on pg brain???

As for me - I called up last Friday to ask for another scan, but got the same response ? midwives not allowed to do it any more. It was a hard wait over the weekend, but had our OB appointment yesterday afternoon and all is fine. Baby was moving around all over the place, got a great shot of the feet with five perfect little toes, measuring ahead of dates and all looking good. There also seems to be a rather distinct penis-like protrusion between its legs, so OB is 90% certain we're having a boy! We were both stunned as I was so certain it was a girl. Am slowly readjusting to the idea of a little boy instead, but as long as it's healthy that's all that matters. Anyway, we will wait for a (more) definite answer at the 20 week scan, but pretty sure at this stage that it's a boy.

    Hi everyone

Have been MIA a little - DH's birthday yesterday, and was spending quite a lot of time with DH's family on the weekend.

TL - so glad you made it into the thread, hun, even though I'm a couple of days behind in welcoming!! I've posted in your blog, but just wanted to let you know that it's so hard not to analyse all the things that are happening in your body and whether to stress about it or not, so just know that everything you've mentioned sounds so much like the timings and things I went through. MS started around then end of week 6 and it was really very mild at first, and I had cramps for quite a few weeks after AF was due. Very hard not to feel something wasn't right, but it all sounds so good. Hoping the time until your scan goes really quick - counting down for you

Shan - how are you doing? Been catching up in you blog too, but I'm sorry that you've been finding some of the things your OB said scary. I absolutely would too. I'm sure she was trying to prepare you for the worst case scenario only, and didn't mean to make you think that extremely early intervention is likely. I really don't think it would be. Your bubbas are healthy and strong, and the evidence of this is the wonderful kicks and wiggles that are with you now all the time. It's common for one twin to be behind the other in growth - my dad is a twin and was quite a bit smaller than his sister, who came first at birth, but he was absolutely fine. They know so much more these days about how to care for babies than when my dad was born (!), they would only take them early if it was safer than being inside your womb, and that is so unlikely, hun. Hope you continue to enjoy all the kicks and wiggles, and this wonderful time in the 2nd trimester. You're blooming, healthy and well, and I have no doubt your babies are going to be so too, as well as so loved!

scooby - ahh, hun. I really understand that feeling of not getting to hear the HB. I'm sorry. Went through that three times before we heard it. It sounds like your placenta isn't making things all that easy But, your baby was moving, you could see HB, and there was nothing amiss on the scan - so hard to believe that everything is ok, but all these things point to the fact that it really is. Just keep trying to remember that you are designed to grow your baby! And so much of what happens is out of your control, which is so hard, but the natural process that happens is so finely tuned, it will be ok. I keep reminding myself of this when I don't feel great about not knowing what's going on all the time. It really does help. Really hope the 2 weeks goes quickly hun. Thinking of you.

numa - wonderful to hear you had such a great OB appointment! Congratulations on hearing the HB - my DH was grinning the first time we heard it too (and the second, come to think of it)! Such a great, great feeling for you and DH!

Janie - good luck for your scan on Thursday!! So glad it's that time for you now! Hope the next two nights go as quick as possible, and that MS doesn't keep you up too much. Really looking forward to hearing how it all goes!

QueenH - welcome, and huge congratulations on your BFP! I worked with children and families during our TTC journey, and it was difficult at times. Please remember that it's really ok for you to react to families and children when you go through so much, and that you shouldn't feel bad for the natural reactions you've had. They are understood. I assume by MC your meant morning sickness, and as to pessaries increasing m/s, I'm not sure if there's an easy answer for that, I'm afraid! Some women react to some pregnancy hormones differently than others, so that it's difficult to tell which hormone (HCG, Progesterone, oestrogen) causes morning sickness. A lot of literature points to HCG being the main culprit, but it really could just as much be a comination of the overall rise in all hormone levels. Perhaps you could ask your FS what his experience is with patients on pessaries and m/s? I hope you have a really healthy and happy pregnancy and look forward to hearing how everything goes for you in any case.

Ellie - I went through a stage at around 9 weeks when all my pregnancy symptoms, including m/s just disappeared for a couple of days - it made me really worry at the time, but then m/s and symptoms came back really strongly for another couple of weeks (and I was like you - yay!! It's back!!), and then m/s was completely gone at just before 12 weeks. I think the levelling out of levels at about that time had to do with that for me, too. Your HCG peaks around that time, and then drops off sharply for the next few weeks. I think that peak is actually around 10 weeks, and then by the time your at the end of the first trimester, your HCG is quite low again and builds again but much slower (and nowhere near as high) throughough the rest of the pregnancy. When the levels are changing (either up or down) seemed to correspond to when I had the most m/s - it sounds really similar for you too. Anyway, glad you're feeling reassured, but hope that m/s gets nowhere near as bad as it's been for you! Bring on that scan!!

Devon - hey hun, was thinking about you and the scan a lot over the weekend. Sorry I didn't get a chance to come and say good luck and I hope everything goes well. I was really hoping you were all ok on the weekend So glad you got to see that everything is really good, and I'm sure the reassurance is making you feel so much better. And a boy!!! Woohoo!! So nice to have something so tangible to know about your baby now. Congratulations!! Time to start discussing more names, hey?!

BW - thinking of you lots - have read your blog and will reply there. But sending hugs over here now, anyway

I'm at home in bed - it's almost 3pm, tsk tsk tsk! I started back at temping work yesterday (was offered another month with the company I worked for previously) but had a horrendous night's sleep last night. Long story, but I don't think the food I had at dinner at the restaurant for DH's birthday last night went down very well, combine that with IBS playing up again, and combine that with the long day back at work and the late night, plus a really terrible (seriously, it was awful) nightmare about miscarrying the baby, and I was in a bad state this morning. Even if I would have been ok to pick myself up at work, I wasn't in any place to be driving safely. The dream was so real, and it's taken me until an hour so ago not to be worried and panicked about the baby IRL now! How silly?! Very much looking forward to the 20 week scan Monday week. Only hear the HB a week ago, but that's worn off again and I'm impatient to see how the baby is doing. Can't help thinking the nightmare came from my silly worries that something will be wrong on the scan. Can only wait and see. Only 6 sleeps to go.

Big hugs and bellyrubs to everyone else here, sending lots of healthy, happy bubs-in-tums vibes to everybody.

    Hi girls
QueenH: Welcome and huge congrats, wishing you a very happy and healthy pregnancy
Devon: your scans sounds wonderful, oh little boys, highly recommend them !! Although its always a worry when you go to pick them up from school to be told DS keeps putting his hands down his pants (he said its to keep them warm. they really are laugh a minute !!! so glad everything is great ps love your 3d pic!
Miss C: thank you for your words of reassurnance, trust me they are really needed. Sorry about the night mares i did have a few of those with DS, they are so real and it does take awhile to get over them, my midwife said its very normal and just our unconscience mind playing tricks on us, really not nice. I hope your feeling better soon.
    Ellie: yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaa for MS
TL: i wont say dont stress because that would be sooooo hypcritical, but both of my friends who are UTD have had no MS at all. ANd as for the cramping i had it with DS and now also with this pregnancy so much so that at about 10 weeks i rang the ob i was so worried i was mcing, so i think its pretty normal and the funny thing is the days i feel quite normal and have no pulling or cramping i get worried (it never ends)
Shannon: hope you and youre bubblings are doing well, thanks for the words of confidence
Well im feeling a little better, i ended up ringing my ob and getting in next monday so not so long to wait, i feel abit ridiculous needing all this reassurence with DS i had none of this worry, infact i didnt think of any of this stuff i was so relaxed but i guess the circumstances have made this so different. Am going to "beached whale" classes tonite (as approved by the ob) or better known as antenatal water aerobics, so scared to even look at my bathers never mind put them on, but really need to get moving as i think lack of gym is leading to this worrying all the time! Well hugs to you all hope i havent missed anyone. Take care
