abdominal pains - anyone had these?

Today I've had sharp pains on one side of my lower abdomen - feels a bit like I've pulled a ligament (I don't know if that's what it is - but it describes what it feels like!). Had the pains even while sitting still in the car. My ob asked whether I had any discharge or loss (no) and whether I'm feeling baby's movements (yes) - then said if it continues, give her a call. But in the meantime I'm worrying about it. My pregnancy book assures me that 'stretching pains' are normal, but it seems strange that I have them only on one side - although now that I think about it, it's the side that gets all the action when I reach up to get things from the too-high kitchen shelves.

    Anyone experienced something similar?

    Hi mgm
This is normal and very common. It is caused by your ligaments stretching. For some reason and I dont know why it happens more on the left side than the right

    Heya!
I woke up with it one morning! And it was on the side that i was not laying on. I thought something was wrong, was really close to getting DP to rush me to hosp! I did some research and came up with 'Round Ligament Pain' which is like Alan said, stretching of the ligaments. I did follow it up with the DR and Midwife, and both agreed that it was Round Ligament Pain, and that it would infact get worse, as there is yet to be more stretching to be done, but there is NOTHING to worry about unless it comes with bleeding and there were a few others.
Ive found it get it more with movements that cause me to use my tummy muscles, such as moving positions in bed, sneezing etc.

Hi mgm...I had this at around 19 weeks. On one side only and could barely walk. Very painful but with panadol and heat pack and rest it eased up and only bothered me on odd occasions. I hope it eases up for you soon, but don't worry it is normal (like Alan said).

Alan, Meg and Rachel, thank you so much for your replies! I feel much better just knowing I don't need to worry about it. Between my unstable pelvis, back pain and now this, my ice-packs are getting a real workout lately! Thanks again.

I have had some absolute shockers over the past 4 days, Saturday I didn't want to get out of bed as it hurt so much to move, now I can but getting out of the passenger side of the car hurts.. It seams to be more on the left side now...but it is subsiding...yowchy!
