I have SPD, I went to a physio and she worked on the muscles in my upper thighs and across my pubic area and it made a world of difference, Money is tight for us too and I haven't been back but I get hubby to massage these muscles (upper thighs towards the inside front of the leg) and across my pubic bone it really helps, it hurts like hell because the muscles are overcompensating but worth doing. Try heat packs too and sleep with a pillow between your knees, I also bought a support belt which really helps.
I still have quite a bit of pain but I was at the point where I couldn't work so doing these things has really helped.
