Acupuncture in preparation for birth

Sarah how exciting - if your little girl just due or taking her sweet time??

I have been twice which has helped for this m/s I still have a bit of (yeah, what's with that) - and then once a month until around 36/37 weeks.

So I am really interested to hear how it goes for you and what the practitioner actually does - good luck! Let me know.

I went this morning & it was quite good. I had a reflexology massage on my feet which was absolutely divine Then for teh accupunture I had a needle (do they call them needles?) in each ankle, the webbing between my thumbs & first fingers and then at th base of my neck on my shoulders. After about 10 minutes she sort of screwed them in tighter if that makes sense. Then another 10 minutes she did the same & put a heat lamp thing over the ones in my ankles. And that was pretty much it. It was very relaxing & I think I dozed off a bit! Straight after I had a nice strong contraction & a bit of a show (though I have had a lot in the last week) but that's it so far.

Little girl is taking her sweet time getting here, she is overdue & the reason I did the acupuncture is because they are starting to threaten induction..... They asked me several times before starting if I was overdue as they won't do an induction acupuncture session until you are due or over.

I had acupuncture to bring on labour, i started about 37 weeks as my DH was going overseas a few days after my due date, my chiro does it and as i have been seeing them for a few years they didn't mind doing it a little early he said the closer to the due date the better chances of it working i had it twice and each time felt contractions a few hours later i was booked in for my third one but went into labour the night before. I also had naturopath mixture which was vile i actually vomitted once after taking it. Yucky!!

I had a very quick labour 49 minutes and probably both things contributed.

I am a bit of a wuzz! Does it hurt, otherwise I like to give it ago?

It's a bit strange actually. I felt them go in which didn't really hurt but I found my right hand felt sore the whole time. With my right leg as well I moved & felt like a cramp al the way down to my toes but that eased off afte a minute or so.
