U should probably get it checked out by ur ob or midwife just to be on the safe side...
Good luck!
I have a quick question. I have been getting a bit of swelling of my ankles over the last few weeks. I have poor circulation normally which is probably what has been causing it. My blood pressure has been fine so its not been a concern. However in the last couple of days I have noticed that my right ankle and foot is much more swollen than my left. Should I be worried, or is this just another one of those quirky things in pregnancy?

IGet it checked but it's probably just a qurkey pregnancy thing.
I also have swelling in my right foot and ankle only it gets quite large and it's also the only leg i get cramps in ... go figure.
I have a circulation issue along with low blood oresure (normally) but my DR is not overly concerned.

Hun - get it checked out. It could be nothing, or signs of early pre-eclampsia (as I am sure you already know). I have had SEVERE oedema for the last couple of weeks, I mean, even my knees and upper legs are swollen. Only have just now been diagnosed with mild pre-e as BP is up and showing some protein in wees.
Just keep your eye on it and note any sudden changes.
Good luck!
PS my right foot and ankle is about 20% more swollen than my left, I think this is fairly normal.
I also had a more swollen right foot than left foot in the last weeks. Bizarre. It sounds like it's pretty common! I asked the midwife and he just told me not to be concerned but to keep an eye on it.
Hi girls
It is a pregnancy thing. Often caused by rosing your feet/legs or sitting at a slight angle and putting a little more weigh on one buttock/leg than the other. Sleeping on your side can also cause this. If you have no other symptoms then it is not a problem. To help to reduce the swelling try not to sit for too long without going for a short walk. If you do need to sit for long periods then doing some foot/leg exercises may help. Don not cut back on your fluid intake thinking this will help. It wont, but it will cause other problems.
Alan are you saying our swelling more on the right side is normal ?
How odd is that![]()
Thanks for all the responses. Its good to know I'm not alone. I have spoken to my Ob and he has told me not to worry. Everything seems to be fine and I am due to see him on Monday anyway. Still wierd that all the responses so far have said their right side is more swollen than the left. I wonder if we are all sleeping more on our right side or something?
it can be on either side Sue
My right hand has more swelling/arthritis/numbness of the fingertips than my left handTotally normal during pregnancy, for me at least. Can't wait to get the feeling back in my hand!
