i am FREAKING out! im also concerned about how much worse they are going to get in the next 3 months?
and during birth.. what will happen? i am so scared i am going to blow out completely... im terrified of something aweful happening in the back that the actual birth itself isnt worrying me (that much..)
im scared to ask.. whats the worst that could happen? coz im not sure i want to know lol
Do i just tell the mw that is in the room with me at the time of birth and she will know what to do?
Your middie will see them Otherwise just let them know. To my knowledge there's not a whole lot you can do. I got haemorrhoids during DD1's pregnancy, they blew out to two golf ball sized ones during the birth (but admittedly I was pushing for 1 hour and 40 minutes), then eventually went down and inside again, then came back during Dd2's pregnancy. Didn't blow out as bad with her birth at all (6 mins pushing in water) but still uncomfy for a while. TMI...now every time I have a movement they come back out -_- I guess eating lots of fibre, drinking lots of water, using gravity for pushing and staying active during labour, will all help to some degree.
i had them while pg with DD they went before i birthed her but obviously came back from pushing, i remember telling my mw at some point in my last stages of labour that i had them..
this time i dont think they are going to go away and only getworse if anything from pressure ect..
if i still have them after this birth (they went away afterDD and would only flare up if i was constipated or strained alot) i will look into getting them removed, its not something i want to have to 'deal with' for the rest of my life.. and there wont be any more babies after this one so no risk of them just coming back itms
I got them with DS1. GP gave me a surgical glove, told me to fill it with water and freeze and then insert one into my bottom every day. Soaking in a salty bath will also help. Not particularly comfortable but it helps shrink them. Also, there are some creams you can use during pregnancy to help, so ask your Pharmacist or GP about them.
As PZ said, make sure you eat lots of fibre and try and relax when doing number 2's.
i use rectinol when i need to (if they are particularly bad/sore) i used to sit on ice after DD but they arent painful at the moment, just annoying. and unsightly.
i have heard of the salt bath (sitz bath?) will remmeber to give it a go when it gets to that point
Mine blew out to massive size when I was pushing. I couldn't sit down for almost a week after the birth.
They still give me trouble 8 years later but I'm too embarrassed to see a Dr (although not too embarrassed to tell everyone on the internet - go figure).
Zazou, get thine butt to a doctor! If you are too embarrassed to show 'em to your GP, ask for a referral to a proctologist... they deal with a***holes all day long and won't even blink at the sight of yours. My mum had hers surgically removed a year or so ago and is so pleased that she did.
Stevie, I had them after each delivery and used an ointment called Sheriproct. It was expensive and only available on prescription but it worked a treat (far, far more effective then Rectinol or the other over the counter treatments). I'm not certain that it is suitable for use in pg, but your doctor or pharmacist will be able to tell you.
Another soothing thing to put on them is witch hazel. It's a clear liquid often used as a facial cleanser. I used it every time after a motion (cotton face wipes are great to put it on) to soothe the area when pg.
I use sheriproct too. It's brilliant for getting rid of them. When I went to get a new script I was still feeding ds2 and the GP was hesitant to give it to me cause it's a class C drug I think. But I needed it cause I was so much pain.
Zazou I understand about the embarresment but you could just go to the Dr and tell them you have hemorrhoids and you'd like a script for Sheriproct.
