    Counting Movement??

    Hi Guys,

just want a bit of a guide from the wealth of experience that is BB.

I have been getting heaps of movement, but every now and again bubs goes quiet and I know probably just having a rest. But I've been doing a bit of reading that suggests to be monitering the amount of movement to ensure bubs is ok. I've read suggestions that we should get 10 forms of movement in any particular hour that we choose to moniter (ie. able to rest and take a load off and purposely moniter - definately don't get a chance to do that at work?!) and if within that hour it is less than 10, then refer for help.

I asked the midwife when I was at Ob office last time and she said 10 movements within 24 hours. Which is a huge difference.

Cause I get heaps of movement I know bubs is ok, but still do wonder what's going on when I don't feel anything for a few hours and so start to prod abit to trigger a kick.

    what's everyone's thoughts / experiences on this.

    I'm 29 weeks.

    Jules

    Hi Jules
You should have at least 10 kicks in 12 hours. But make sure that you don't just count kicks, you should count all the movements that your baby makes.

I too was told 10 movements in 12 hours, like Alan said. I've had to do this for about a month now, as bub suddenly went all quiet. If you don't get the 10 movements, best to get it checked out.
So far for today, I'm up to 2 movements

that's good - so the 10 movements within any one hour is a bit much, mind you, it does seem to be happening?!?!

10 movements in 12 hours I can definately deal wih. I'll have a count during a whole day just to see out of interest how much of a footy player or dancer this baby really is.

maybe movements slow down as bubs grows and there's less room to move around in?

Good luck ladies - you're almost there!!!

Thanks heaps for responding too Alan - i appreciate it
