Even though my DP had negative blood type they still gave me the anti D. When DD was born they worked out she was neg (of course she was if we both were) so didnt need to have the anti D after she was born.

You only need the anti-D if your partner (father of the child in-utero) is Rh positive. There is only a problem if the baby is positive and their positive blood crosses into the mothers blood stream. The mixing of bloods creates antibodies in the mother (like when you are vaccinated) so the next pregnancy with a positive baby may have complications.
