Gosh, I barely ever post... and yet I manage to get first on the thread sometimes!
Hope all of you ladies are doing well.
I'm keeping an eye on your progress.... but I'm too busy/tired to write posts.
I've been busy lately. Taking on some extra work. And then my trainee quit last week... so I'll have to do some of her clients! Damn her!
Shaun is doing well. he reverted back to his old sleeping habits - but seems to have settled again. Sorry to hear about Darcy's sleeping problems Kim. Heart goes out to you!
Shaun earnt his first income last week! He was selected for a Target catalogue shoot... and I was ready to put him in the car when I got a phone call from the agent. The photo shoot had been cancelled because they didn't have the clothes.... but he still gets paid - $85. Yariv is shocked because its more than what he earns per hour!!!
He's turning into a right monkey at the moment. Climbs onto or into everything. Won't be long before he climbs out of his cot!
Yariv finally got his racing car experience - but it was a bit of a let down. They promote it as a 4.5 hour experience... but it's actually 1/2 hour in the car. The other 4 hours are just waiting around, whilst the other drivers have their shot in the car.
Will try and do some personals soon. take care all!!!

Well after spending the last few days madly doing assignments and working I decided to have a night to myself. I’ve had a lovely shower and got to shave and wax and then lather myself in body butter! Delish!! Now I’m going to catch up on some posts before I go MIA finishing the next assignment!
Jodie ~ What a buggar that the drive itself was only ½ an hour! That’s a bit cheeky hey? Whoo hoo for Shaun getting his first income – that is fantastic!!
Sara ~ I am getting started with Em’s birthday party. I need to be organized as I’ll have a tonne of uni pracs around that time. I am trying to decide on a theme for the invitations and cake etc. I think I might just go neutral and do what ever takes my fancy… still not sure though! YAY for Ms Briley sleeping like a trooper! I would have no idea what to do with myself if Em went to sleep that early! It would be like heaven lol! I’m glad your understanding chemistry a bit more as well. I assume you must have exams? Because you don’t seem to have as many assignments as me. I’m lucky this semester and I don’t have one exam! YAY! That just translates to a lot of work throughout the semester though lol. Buggar at your hospital weight! Glad to hear that things are going well though.
Leanne ~ It would be great to meet you all in person! I would love that! I’m trying not to wear myself out! I would go nuts if Em didn’t sleep through the day. Lets hope it’s a phase that doesn’t last! I hope you are feeling better soon sweet and that you had a better day today
Kim ~ I just can’t imagine you looking daggy lol! I’m sure you looked gorgeous! I hope you’re enjoying a long sleep now sweety. Nothing worse then being sleep deprived!!
Christine ~ The end of daylight savings didn’t give me any extra sleep either!! When do you get back Jess’s other test results? I hope she’s okay! Sounds like you have a great weekend ahead of you!
Tania ~ If that cream doesn’t work I can try and grab some bum rash cream from the Womans and Childrens here – they do a fantastic bum cream and teething gel that is raved about all over the state. I haven’t used the bum rash cream but if it is as effective as the teething gel (just on bums though pmsl) then it would be fantastic.
Shazz ~ I will cry all day on his birthday and have the party the next day pmsl! Poor Ryan and his ears!! I hope he’s feeling better soon!
OMG after all the stress of getting the assignments I forgot that I have to get them back – eek!! I don’t want to know what score I got lol! How nerve wrecking!!!
Em is still taking small steps around the place. The most he’s gone is 10 steps maybe? And he has finally started clapping!!! I was so excited! Its so adorable and strangely enough he walks better when he’s clapping his hands!!! He really is such a delight at the moment – he’s starting to become really interactive and I can actually play games with him which I just adore doing! Well I think I’m going to write a list of things to do and then go to bed. I have to be up early to drop Em off at CC and then I’m working my butt off on the next assignment! Oh and I may have to vacuum and mop because the floor is in a dire state hehe!

Now... I'm going to do personals!!!
Christine: I see you've been referred to Tresillian. It will be worth the wait. And my cousin works at Tresillian in Sydney. Her name is Cheryl. She's been a nurse for about 25 years. She's really lovely. So if you get it, and you meet Cheryl - say Jodie said hi. And I hope Jess doesn't have Coeliac (my stepmum has that)!! Great that it's not Crohns! Drive safely to Dubbo... and enjoy your break! My parents went to the zoo on the weekend for a work do and said it was fantastic. Shaun is too young to enjoy the zoo; can't wait until he's old enough.
Lea & Sara: I take my hat off to you two girls studying with a baby. And another one on the way with Sara. You are superwomen! congrats on Em cutting his 2nd tooth. Shaun cut two in a week... but that's been it. They are soooo sharp though! Yariv bought him a huge helium balloon ($10)... then I found it slashed in his bedroom. He had bitten it!!!
Sara: hope your BP doesn't play up. And 2.5 hour wait would suck!
Kim: it seems you still have sleep issues with Darcy. Have you thought about booking into Tresillian again? Or medication? My GP (who is the sleep school doctor) recommened some non-prescription meds for Shaun to get him through the night. When he is really feral for days on end, I give him some stuff at midnight and he sleeps through to 8am. I do that for 1-2 nights then stop... and he sleeps through by himself. The doc said it is training him in a new sleep 'habit'. Hope you get a break when you go to your mums.
Leanne: thanks for the photos of Kaitlyn. She is soooo adorable. Her eyes are like little oceans! Hope you're feeling okay and not everything get ontop of you. As people probably tell you - don't stress too much about the housework. But I know you still need to do the basic stuff like washing, dishes etc. Best thing I ever did was hire a cleaner (only $50 for 3 hours)... and she does all my floors, wipes everything down and neatens everything up.
Tania: how is Jaydens nappy rash? Hope it's clearing up. I use Clozole which is a "chemists own" brand antifungal cream. Shaun rarely gets nappy rash, so I'm fairly lucky. Hope Jayden's is clearing up.
Shazz: Hope Ryans ears improve. Poor love.
So who's having a 1yo birthday party?
I don't think I will be doing anything for his 1st. We might just do a family thing. I really can't be bothered having a party and inviting friends and distant family over - when Shaun doesn't even understand. My stepmum says I should make a big deal of his 1st birthday - but Shaun doesn't know. I would prefer a big deal for his 2nd when he can really enjoy it.
And anyone doing anything for Easter?
Nothing here. Just happy that DH can have a couple of extra days off work.
-
Afternoon Girls!
 WE HAVE A TOOTH!!!
My mum found it thismorning! I was in the shower getting ready for work when my brother came and said to me "Sara, Briley has a pooey nappy" (or so i thought!). I was like well tell mum. He comes back with she already knows!! So anyways, i kept on showering! Then i get out of the shower and go straight to my mums room to see if they had changed her. I said, "Well did you's change it??" And they said "No, she has a tooth!!!" I could'nt believe it! How the hell i got pooey nappy and she has a tooth mixed up is beyond me!!! Preggy brain!!
Yeah so finally we have a tooth. Explains all the dramas i have been through the last week.
Sorry about that short novel!
Vic - Glad you had a good time honey! Its good to get away from time to time ain't it! I can't wait till out trip to the Gold Coast in Jan next year!!
Nat - Yeah i have exams. Not sure when they are. I really need to start studying a bit more. I just don't know how to!
Jodie - YAY at Shaun earning his first dollars! Thats great. Bummer that they cancelled though. Would the catalogue have been Australia wide?? Would have been cool to see him in there!
Kim - Grrrr at Cam! How inconsiderate! MEN!!!! Can't live with em can't live without em! Hope your feeling ok today.
Hi to everyone else. Sorry if i missed any of you. Its hard to remember what the last posts where on the previous thread!! I have preggy brain remember!
Well other than the tooth coming through, there is'nt much else to report. I am tired as usual. Briley has been in her cot for about an hour now where i have been trying to make her go back to sleep. She ofcourse won't! I was hoping to have a lie down myself.
Well better go and hang this washing out!
Hope you are all well!
So who's having a 1yo birthday party?
Not sure yet. They way i have been thinking about it makes me think that i will probably have a small party for her! We'll see. I will have to have a chat to brent about it and see what he reckons. Ofcourse he will probably want to do something cause it will be an excuse for him to get pi**ed!!
And anyone doing anything for Easter?
Easter is on Brents week off so we are doing something. Not quite sure yet. I was ringing around at the holiday resorts north and south of Townsville but everything is alreay booked. We were going camping but the people we were going with pulled out. Which is fine with me cause i am at a stage in my pregnancy where i dont feel like bathing out of a bucket for a few days!
So yeah probably go away with the family and some close friends for a few days i'd say!
-
OMG my house is disgusting. I am meant to be studying but I can't do it when my house is in such a state lol. I'm almost finished cleaning now though. Just a bit of dusting and the mopping and we're done. The rain is great but it makes it hard to get my washing done grrrrr! I can see myself getting high electricity bills from the dryer this year lol!
So who's having a 1yo birthday party?
Yep we certainly are. We are having a fancy dress party lol. I have yet to organize everything but I have Em's little out fit and it is just adorable!!! We will also be having a family BBQ or something as well.
And anyone doing anything for Easter?
Nothing at all lol. I am working on the Saturday (double pay YAY) and I will catch up with family and friends as well!
Alrighty I better get back to it!
-
So who's having a 1yo birthday party?
if i don't hurry and make my mind up the answer will be NO .
And anyone doing anything for Easter?
working how exciting
-
Having a first birthday party and then later this year a 16th LOL The 1st is a lot less angst- Riley hasn't told me his social standing will be ruined if I ban all alcohol from his party at least! Kim- is it true if I have a party for Jess and underage kids are drinking alcohol I can be fined/ charged?? (I have told Jess this is the case LOL) I really do not want to deal with drunken teenagers, some of her friends from work are over 18 so they can legally drink but how do I stop the younger ones??
Sorry got off track- its been stressing me and she isn't even 16 til Nov!
Easter- chocolate, buns, more chocolate! Contemplating the easter show but its soooo expensive.
Riley has an upper respitory tract infection and is not a happy chap, his temp has been up and last night i had about 2 hours sleep all up. Hopefully we get more tonight before i drive to Dubbo.
Gentle parenting- mmmm sometimes maybe LOL Certainly not to the older 2!!!
-
Well I didn't get much of my assignment done but I'm all organized to do it lol! And the house is sparkling which is such a relief. I love a clean house!
do you consider yourself a 'gentle parenting' person?
Good question Vic! I'm not sure myself. I'd love the official meaning of gentle parenting. I think in general I agree more with gentle parenting methods but I honestly just do what feels right for Em and I so who knows where we fit in!
pmsl Shazz I'm working to - a full day as well arghhhh! The only good thing about that is the money! How is Ryan going?
Christine I'd be a stickler for no alcohol at all. That's just me though. I hope Riley is feeling better soon!
Em is just eating dinner and then its bath time and we're going to sit and play for a while. We have swimming first thing tomorrow and then grocery shopping. Then I'm working 3 days in a row :o and I have uni on the 4th day!!! I so can't wait for this two week break... what's the beat I'm just as busy over my break pmsl?!!?
And to think I have 4 years of this...
Is this colour to light to read? I think I'll go back to using the blue one.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So who's having a 1yo birthday party?
We THINK we're just going to have a family thing if the ILs can be nice. I doubt it after my birthday fiasco. I bet they try and have their own party for Darcy - well that's not going to happen. We don't know many people with kids anyway. Cam will probably be away on an anti- terrorist thing that week anyway.
And anyone doing anything for Easter?
Nope, I work Easter Sunday, and cam has 8 days in a row from nest Tuesday cos it's a no-rest period for them.
Gentle parenting - not really sure what it is, but I worry about some of the things that are said/asked on here so maybe I don't (not this group, just in general).
Hmm Christine, it is against the law to have underaged persons drinking at your party, however, I have yet to meet anyone that got charged. I'll dig out the Act and number if you like so you've got hard evidence LOL. You are required to tell the local police if you are having a party and they'll ask you what kind of 'security' measures you've got in place....just so they know in case it turns to s##t.
I don't know whether I've been a neglectful mum today or not. I noticed when Cam was going to work that Darcy's left middle finger was all pussy around the quick on the right side. Well by the time she got up from her sleep a couple of hours later her whole finger was swollen at the top. I went to the doc's but it was shut, so I asked the chemist, and he said, "gees that's going to need antibiotics!". It looks pretty bad, but it doesn't seem to be bothering her. I don't want her fingernail to fall off. I have put diluted dettol on it, but I feel bad for not noticing before it got to the mank stage.
Jodie - my drive was EXACTLY the same. Hope he enjoyed it though.
-
Hi Nat ~ Ryan is getting better again least he is back to his happy cheeky self although the sleeping is still out of whack
the greeen is alright with me :)
-
oh her poor wee little finger don't feel bad Kim ryan has stuck his finger in the free standing fan and cut his they are just so darn quick like today my DD walked out the front door turned around to say something and wham ryan has run for the door and fell face first onto the pavers he now has a very swollen, bruised nose let me tell you my poor dd has not stopped crying about it though it hasn't helped that her 9 year brother has been giving her absolute grieve about it
-
Jodie- what is the medicine?????? I have tried polarimine (sp?) but even that didn't work, the chemist said that or phenergen.
-
lol Vic my son was also in that 20 % with the pain stop making him hyper though we didn't use it for sleep issues we didn't need to with him Ryan on the other hand
-
BTW has anyone heard from sheree lately ?? hows Lachie doing ????
-
I meant to ask what medicine you gave Shaun too Jodie???
I've got one of those 20% hyperheads too....:(
I'm guessing Sheree's preettty busy with the newsagent. They work long hours I'm guessing.
Oh Shazz, poor DD. That's so sweet she feels awful....a fan!!!
-
Gentle Parent?......... Certainly not to the extreme that some BB's are. I co-slept with Shaun for the early months. I give him massages, I'm not keen on smacking him. But I don't believe in long term co-sleeping, as it's not good for the parental relationship. I fully recommend sleep schools and some sleep techniques (but not prolonged crying - which is NOT taught at sleep schools anymore). I couldn't breastfeed (although I tried) but many gentle parents see that as bad mummy! I believe that a happy mummy creates a happy child. So I give myself 'time out' whenever I can. I do whatever it takes to get him to sleep, so that I can also get a few hours sleep.... I know this is a "gentle parenting" site - so I was very hesitant to mention medication for sleep. I've been condemned for mentioning sleep school before. But when a parent tries everything (including all the gentle parent skills) - and there is no success - then I say you should try anything. I'm sure 'gentle parents' don't hesitate to give panadol... so I don't see non-prescription sleep medication any different to that. Funny enough - I rarely ever give Shaun Panadol.
talking of sleep... I was recommended Vallergan. Funny enough, I was reading the "toddler taming" book last night - and the doc (who is Australian) also recommended Vallergan. I just mix 5mls into his bottle of milk. It doesn't knock him out immediately. He just goes to sleep as normal - but he stays asleep until the morning - and wakes up all happy.
Congrats Briley for your first tooth!!!!!
Lea: not real keen on the green. Maybe a darker shade would be a bit easier (I'm old, my eyesight is probably going). Fancy dress party - how cool!!! Maybe I will do that for Shauns 2nd.
I just got back from work tonight. I worked two hours, and thought I would hate it. But I rather enjoyed it. I came home and asked DH if he would mind if I work every second Thursday night, and every 2nd Saturday. He seems to think that will be okay.
-
Good on you Jodie! I didn't find the actual going to work too bad either, but it's the crap I don't like. Exactly what you said on the gentle parenting too. :D
Funny, i tried to get Vallergan for Darcy when she was really bad, but they wouldn't give it to me as it isn't recommended for under 2s because it slows their breathing rate right down. I've always heard good things about it like you said Jodie. :dunno:
-
When my doctor told me to get it, he said to say it was for allergies if the chemist asked. But the chemist never said anything. I asked for it, they gave it to me and said "it can make you drowsy" (hehehe - that was the idea!). The box gives dosages for Urticaria & Pruritus (had to google those ones) and Sedation - for Children (from 2yo) and adults.
I felt confident that Shauns doc knew what he was talking about because he is the Sleep School doctor, and highly recommended paediatric doctor. It did the trick for shaun. I'm not keen on drugging a child. And looking at my baby book; my mother dosed me up on valium (I was born in the 60's). I've used the Vallergan a few times in 4 months, and only for 1-3 days. It is also helpful when they are teething.
I respect everyone's choices with what they do with their own child. We all wish we had 'perfect babies'.... but so many of us have sleeping issues, feeding issues, and all manner of illnesses. You just want to do whats best for your baby. And from where I stand, a sleep deprived baby is not in their best interest. You can try the different techniques that people recommend... and eventually you find something that works. But if you don't try anything - you & baby may be sleep deprived for years...
damn... I had another question for everyone and I've forgotten it! I'll probably
remember at 3am!!! thinking,,,, thinking,,,,, thinking,,,,,
I remember now..!!!!!!!!
Whats the deal with sterilising bottles? Some friends of mine stopped sterilising bottles/teats when their kids started crawling. Others say 12 months! For me it's a routine every night. Wash in hot soapy water, rinse, dry out then put in the microwave steriliser for 8 minutes. I must admit though - I haven't sterilised his dummies for about 6 months. I might rinse them off, but usually I pop them in my mouth for a minute then give it to him!
Who still sterilises? And what's the deal with 12 months? :dunno:
-
Nope I don't sterilise either. Just soak and wash in hot soapy water. I figure if she's eating flies she doesn't need sterilised stuff.
Jodie, i wasn't having a go, honest. I totally agree with you. I should have gone to another chemist.
-
i still sterilise Ryans bottles i'd feel weird if i didn't it is just a routine now although he licks the floor on occassions so i probably could stop doing it
-
Thankyou Jodie I am trying valergan. I am at my wits end and have no problem drugging him LOL I agree with everything you have said about gentle parenting too, I think thats why we in may babies get on so well, we seem to have very similar parenting styles and ideas. I think its easier to gentle parent babies too and some people may get into hassles when their kids are older, I don't know how you gentle parent a teenager LOL. Anyway each to his own.
Hey Jodie I just realised you and Yariv have an age gap like Daniel and I, I feel OK admitting it now LOL Sometimes I feel like people look at me strangely cause its the done thing to have the man older. It doesn't bother me in day to day life cause I don't even think about it.
Riley slept with us last night cause he is sick and still woke up every 2 hours! I am going to take the rip to Dubbo very slowly today cause I haven't had enough sleep, heres hoping its a relaxing weekend.
Erin is yelling for me, better go.
-
Drive Safe Christine!
Hey Nat tell me all about your cloth nappies.....
-
Wow... I have woken up this morning and read these posts and all I can say is .... PHEW !!!
It seems we have some REAL mums in may babies!!
I don't know if you could tell... but I was really hesitant to mention sleep medication at first as I was waiting for the backlash from the gentle parent nazis. (sorry harsh word - but you know what I mean). I respect everyones parenting choices... but it seems a lot think it's their way or the highway.
So firstly - Thank You for your comments & support. I wasn't expecting it.
Kim: I didn't see you as having a go. Quite the opposite really. I just wanted to explain a bit further, and was aware that there were also "gentle parents" who can read these posts too.
Christine: good on you for the younger guy too! I must admit, most of my b/f's were younger - so it was no surprise that I married a younger one. But most people don't realise there is an age gap between us. I don't look 39, and he looks older than 32. He's had a pretty tough life in Israel, so he's fairly mature. But he has his moments! sometimes I've got two kids!!! But I wouldn't swap him for the world. And.. drive safely, and have a great holiday.
Thanks for the feedback about sterilizing. It has just become such a habit, that I continue to do it. But it would be a big relief if I was able to just wash the bottles. I could put them in the dishwasher. I could even continue to sterilise the teats only. That would save me heaps of time too. I think it's time I change my habit!
-
Well I thought Darcy wouldn't get teeth until she was about 5, today I can feel one has cut through....does tha mean she's got a tooth? And I knew I woudn't notice anything different if she was teething - she hasn't done a single thing out of the ordinary. Lol
-
If you can feel something really sharp in her gums, then yep - she's got a tooth. Over the next couple of weeks it will grow little by little and fully come out.
CONGRATULATIONS !!!
Shaun's second tooth came through about 8 days after his first one did. So don't be surprised if there are two toothy pegs in a week or so!!
-
Gentle Parent?......... I co-slept with Ryan in the early months but only if i had too. I give him massages and cuddles , I'm not keen on smacking any of my kids but i have been known to and like Vic will most probably have to doi it again . I don't believe in long term co-sleeping ( sometime that includes my ever loving husband as well ). I could breastfeed this time i couldn't with my last 2 kids so for me i say do what you feel is right for you and your baby and don't let any one make you feel like you are not doing the right things as Jodie said a happy mumma is a happy bubba I have been known to rock Ryan to get him to sleep, so that I can finally crawl into bed for some much needed sleep. "gentle parenting" ..... where can i find a defination to this because i feel every one of us is a gentle parent to some degree i know speaking for myself i'm just trying to have well rounded kids and no doubt i'll make mistakes along the way but i'm just a human being that doesn't have all the answers to lifes little mystery's so yep i think us may mummies do have similar parenting ideals
-
ok where are you all ?
hope nothing i said offended anyone ... starting to worry here H..E..l.l.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.. any body out there
-
Nope not offended, just got home. :D
-
What does everyone do on a Friday & Saturday night?
It's always a ghost town around here....
I must be toooo old - I'm nearly always home. In fact, it's one of the only nights I'm home!!
-
YOu're not too old. We don't do much either. We were at Mum's tonight and my sister's tomorrow, but Cam usually works so it's just us girls.
Been feeling very green these last few days.....
-
I am studying! At least I should be studying and stop lurking!
You girls have been chatterboxes today lol! Great conversation as well!
Who asked me about nappies lol? They are my latest craze hehe! The one in that picture is a Peapod which is a pocket nappy. Its pretty good though I've yet to have a pooey one yet lol. I only have the one nappy and I have another one on the way. My friend and I are researching them and her mum is gonna make them for us! Its all very exciting!
Okay I better get back to it as I have soooooo much to do its not funny and Im' working for 3 days! :o
Thanks again for those Drama Games Christine I really appreciate it!
-
Jodie: Yay for Shaun’s earnings….how did you get an agent etc? I’d love Jayden to do something like that……I think he’s cute enough LOL. Bugger that Yariv’s ride was only a half hour, that’s in a way false advertising isn’t it? I’ll keep clozole in mind too but this time I don’t it was thrush as the anti fungal we were using didn’t seem to have as quick a effect as last time. Some Friday nights we go out for dinner with friends but most Fridays we are home, I am too tired usually to get on the computer esp seen as I am on one all day at work.
Nat: How much is that cream? Its pretty much gone now but I suspect he’s going to go through it every time he is teething. YAY Em for clapping!!! How cute do they look doing it on their own? Jayden’s latest thing is making me clap hands, he does it then looks up at me and laughs. Does Em try to walk everywhere or does he crawl first and work up to the walk iykwim? My SIL(my bro’s wife not Chris’s side) is right into those nappies too, maybe a little overboard though as she is almost condemming the use of disposables. When we were in melb I went to put a nappy in her bin and she laughed and said “How funny that will be the 1st disposable nappy that has touched our bin in months” Umm and your point is what?? They look great though, I haven’t really seen them up here but I guess we’d be able to get off the net, my SIL was looking into making them aswell.
Christine: Poor Riley, hope he gets better soon!! How is Jess going? Is she still sick too? Drive safely and enjoy your weekend!!
Kim: How’s Darcy’s finger? It may not have happened long before you saw it, I wouldn’t feel bad. Jayden had his fingers stuck in between my sliding wardrobe doors a few days ago….I was in another room and I heard him but didn’t go rushing but when I did get there he was screaming and couldn’t move…..i felt a bit bad for not getting there quicker (not that I was too long either). Yay on Darcy’s tooth!! That’s great she hasn’t had any symtoms. Is there any babies left with no teeth yet? They say the longer it takes the better it is. Jayden cut his 1st tooth then by morning the second had just cut now you can see them easy.
Sara: Yay for Briley’s tooth!!! How is everything going with you? I don’t know how you and Nat can study with a baby and you with another on the way – well done supermum!!!
So who's having a 1yo birthday party?
We are having a birthday party and I can’t wait haha. I think we are just having lunch in the botanic gardens that way I won’t have as much cleaning up and my house isn’t that big so I probably won’t fit all Chris’s family in haha. Who’s doing something special with the cake? I am hoping to do some practice cakes this weekend, first one I had in mind was a train…looks tough though haha
And anyone doing anything for Easter?
We are meant to be going camping but I don’t want to go……I’m not great with the whole roughing it thing at the best of times but when we are camping 10 mins from my perfectly good bed, shower and toilet why would I bother? Plus we have to pay $20 for the non-powered site – its not the money I have a problem with but again why would I pay to use public disgusting shower and toilets and to sleep on the ground??
do you consider yourself a 'gentle parenting' person?
I co-slept when I had to in the early weeks/months, I also don’t agree with long term co-sleeping (how would Jayden get a little brother or sister??). I wanted to BF but struggled for nearly the entire 5 ½ months that we did BF…I admire women who can BF for as long as they want however I have known of women still BF’ing when the kids are at school and I don’t see point or the benefit surly there is no nutritional benefit to them at that age (sorry I know it’s a touchy subject). In regards to BF’ing I think you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t, I had ppl saying to me “oh are you still BF’ing” and when I did stop “Oh so you’re not feeding anymore hmm” my favourite is one of my SIL’s, she loves to mention to is still BF’ing to me and making a point of how good that is for the child. (oops sorry went on a bit there). I don’t smack Jayden and I don’t want to start but in saying that Jayden is my 1st child and I have no idea what is in store for me LOL. I am probably not a gentle parent in the true sense of the word but Jayden is happy and healthy which makes me a good parent and that’s whats important.
Whats the deal with sterilising bottles?
I still sterilize but I am so sick of doing it!! Every time I have seen the CHN I have asked about sterilizing bottles and dummies etc and she is adamant that sterilizing is a must up until they are 12mths old (she doesn’t have children herself though). Although I sterilize dummies, if I am somewhere where I can’t sterilize or I just don’t want to I suck on it too, however the CHN nearly had a fit when I said that saying there is so much bacteria in the mouth etc etc its not recommended and I said “and there isn’t bacteria on the ground when he is crawling and putting things in his mouth?” I still boil water too but he has had unboiled water a few times from SIL’s.
Something that happened on Monday is really getting on my nerves, it shouldn’t because it isn’t that bad I guess but its annoying me. I specifically went to SIL#1’s house on Sunday night to tell her to meet me at her mum’s so they can both look after Jayden, with his red raw bum I didn’t want MIL having to deal with it on her own since her heart attack…..she arrives there at 11am instead of 8am. I had told MIL not to give Jayden solids while he had the runs, I get there at lunch and they tell me how they gave him veges and its ok …….NO ITS NOT OK!! Whether I was right or wrong to take him off solids…I AM THE MOTHER  , then SIL#1 says how he was eating pear…..Fruit is probably the worst thing you could give him. She said well he has to have his fruit and I said not while he has the runs he doesn’t!! What ever is right or wrong shouldn’t matter they should just respect what I say. Then today she came here to look after Jayden and she turns up at 8.25am (5mins before I start work) and all she said (to Jayden) was “oh Zia has to change her clock in the car hehehe”…..how about sorry didn’t mean to make you late for work?? OK I’ve had my whinge haha maybe I’ll get over it now hahaha
Sorry massive post from me again….who ever gets this far with my posts? ;)

ETA - how funny is that about Mel's birthday? I hope she has a lovely day today Happy Birthday Mel!! again!
OK I'm warning you all, this part of my post may be TMI, so skip to where it's not if you don't want to read......
Shazz, I'm still undecided. I went over the the TTC threads where they talk about charting etc, but I've been on the depo injections, which i found great, but have always had a small loss of old blood. I didn't have the last one which was due 10th march. I still have the small loss occassionally, even while I've been feeling off. I haven't had AF for yonks so i can't chart, but I thought I could feel O pains a while back. Haven't noticed a difference in CM or anything, so really don't know.
I've heard it can take up to three years to fall after the depo injs, but all the same i fell straight away after I stopped taking the pill. Any thoughts?
OK it's fine after here.....
Tania I can't believe those women?!?! They're mum's themselves aren't they? How would they feel if you disrespected their wishes for their children??? I'm glad his bottom's getting better but his poor little system sounds like it needs the break you're trying to give him....and I always read your posts.
Nat it was me asking, I'm seriously thinking about it. Thanks.
Well the birthday party thing is soured all ready. I was telling mum and dad my plans last night, and my dad who is the NICEST person on earth and never says anything bad about anyone told me that he couldn't go to anything the ILs were at because when they tried to be nice at the christening they were ignored and they didn't want to be made to feel uncomfortable and be on separate sides when it should be happy. I am SO PI#))D that my stupid IL have made my parents feel uncomfortable and sad. I'm really angry about it. My parents have done nothing to them and only supported us, now the ILs fell great about themselves when they should be feeling bad for being idiots! The fact that they were so slyly 'ignorant' of my birthday makes my parents even more upset cos they know it was deliberate too. Wish I could have nothing to do with them. I've never had awful people in my life like that and I don't wish it for Darcy. I show them, they'll get invited to a sausage sizzle that will be really sad and they won't get to see her on her birthday....easy enough since Cam will be away - I'll share it with my family. How mean is that? I never have been vindictive or vengeful before - they're horrible people.
I'm going to make a number 1 and cover it with smarties I think. Seeing as now I have to make 2.

kim ~ i would be leaving them out of the celebrations all together what does Cam want to see happen ??

Evening girls,
Nice and chatty in here i see.
Just poppin in to catch up on post and say hi. Not up for personals tonight. Hope you all dont mind.
Poor Briley has been sooky all afternoon. She has even had 2 sleeps today and is still in bed by 7.00pm. I think her gums are playing up on her. I gave her some panadol to go too bed with so that should help.
I am feeling quite sore tonight. My ligaments around my stomach must be stretching out cause thats where the pain is. Its quite painful. I am going too put the hot shower on it soon. Baby has been moving around heaps today. Its great too feel.
For those who like to read, I brought a book yesterday called The Rouseabout. It was great! I finished it in a day! The story is about a farm girl from Tasmania who falls pregnant to a 17 year old boy at a B 'n' S ball. She does and runner but keeps the baby without the father knowing. I cried quite a few times through the book. Its a very girly book. A great read!
Book reviews aside, I am not doing much else for the weekend. Brent told me too call him lastnight at 8.30pm on the phones they have out there. I spoke too him on tuesday and he said over and over, dont forget too ring cause i will be there waiting for the call. So anyways i get everything done by 8.30 and laydown in bed and call the number. No answer. He stood me up!! I was soo angry and hurt. I speak to him once maybe twice if i am lucky a fortnight and he can't even be there. I knew he would be drinking pi** and watching the friday night football. We'll see when he calls me again though. I am putting money on it though!
Sorry for the gripe.
Hope you are all well. Have a great weekend.
Ni night!
