What book are you reading at the moment?

i'm just finishing up Joe Sacco's 'Footnotes in Gaza'. a graphic novel genre done by a journalist (amongst other things) where he interviews people that were involved in the '56 conflict between egypt and israel and it focuses on the school massacre against civilians in Rafah. pretty confronting stuff and the drawings are amazing.

I'm determined to finish reading Team Of Rivals (historical account of the political life of Abe Lincoln and his rivals). BB member fionas has let me borrow it with a high recommendation. I have never read anything like it before... mostly i am out of my depth but i am learning soooo much! It feels a bit like when i read the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy when i was about 14! LOL (Team of Rivals is looong too).

im reading bryce courtney's " danny Dunn" it is so intreaging, great story, partially true and i just cant put it down i am loving the charaters in it..

I'm reading 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak.
I'm only near the start still but so far I'm enjoying it.

Kawazuki, I bought that for my DH for Christmas and he's been raving about it. I've never actually read any Bryce Courtney myself, though I've enjoyed a few of the telly-movies done on them.

The 19th Wife is going strong, and just keeps getting more and more gripping.

Finished off 'The Girl Who Played With Fire' this afternoon... Loved it & thought it was better than the first one!
I'd be loving to pick up the last one in the series & starting it tonight, but I need to get started on some of my bookclub ones otherwise I'll get to meetings & not have them read
Book 3 will have to sit on my bookshelf for a little longer.

So just read the first 50 pages of 'Love In The Time Of Cholera' & enjoying it so far.
After that is 'The Girl With The Pearl Earring'

Holly: I read Love In The Time Of Cholera back in 1992 when i was 22. I was given a copy by an ex boy friend to read in hospital (I was having knee surgery). I was on lots of drugs when reading it though (for pain) and so it all seems a bit dreamy... will have to re-read... let me know what you think... I'm sure i will have a new perspective 17 years later!

Its funny when you read things when you're younger & then re read them when you're a little older - I just did that with Alice In Wonderland/Alice's Adventures In Wonderland.... very different perspective as a 32yr old rather than a 15yr old

I thought it was awesome. The way it was written was clever, I thought.
Really enjoyed it!!!! Now I'm passing it onto my mum to read.

I've just finished reading "A Child Called 'It' " by David Pelzer and now started the sequel to that called "The Lost Boy".

Jewel, I don't know if I could cope with reading that. There are just some things I don't want in my brain.

Currently reading 'A broom of one's own' by Nancy Pea****, it's storings and musings from a twice-published novelist who still has to clean houses for a living. Very engaging, interesting read. Also, about to start (and read concurrently) "Dear Fatty" by Dawn French.

I've also got a copy of "We need to talk about Kevin" for the BB book club but I need to get thru the library books first.
