What are you reading right now? Come in and tell us!

Thought of this a few weeks ago, hope it's okay to start a new thread like this.

I love reading books on recommendations from others. So thought I'd ask:

    What are you reading?

    Who wrote it?

    What is it about?

    Are you enjoying it?

    Who wrote it? Carl Hiaason

What is it about? A husband throws his wife overboard from a cruise ship on their anniversary cruise, with no apparent motive. She survives but doesn't let on she has.

Am I enjoying it? So far! Up to chapter 8 and it's been good!

I have just finished tomorrow, when the war began by John Marsden. A group of teenagers goes camping and thier country is invaded while they are gone. It is aimed at adolescents, but I heard all the hype of the movie and wanted to see what the book was like. It is actually quite good and I will be getting the next one in the series.

Jennie13 - Loved Harry too, and the Twilight ones, although for the Twilight ones, I struggled with the last one. Annoyed me a bit

I'm reading "The Book Theif" by Markus Zusak. It follows the story of a girl living in Nazi Germany and it is narrated by death.

Very interesting so far, but I need to knuckle down and read more of it, I've been lazy

What are you reading? A time of exile

    Who wrote it? Katherine Kerr

What is it about? (it's book 1 of a 3rd series of 4 series set with the same characters and world - if that makes sense) its a fantasy medieval type of world with elves, magic and men (and a few dwarves) - it's kind of hard to explain because the characters are re-incarnated (sort of) and you follow their "soul" lines. Somewhere the whole set of series is described as a celtic knot (book one of series one is called Daggerspell)

Are you enjoying it? yep mainly cause I haven't read it in a while.

I have just finished reading Mama Mia by Mia Freedman, LOVED it

It's her memoir, it's about her career as the youngest editor of Cosmo magazine and her family life.

I really enjoyed it! I read Cosmo and Cleo during the times she writes about and can remember the instances she's referring to. When she shared her losses I cried. How she felt really hit home for me. And her POAS addiction sounded very familiar

i was just thinking the other day that we needed a thread like this!! and i LOVE carl hiaason books!

What are you reading? the girl who played with fire

    Who wrote it? stieg larsson

What is it about? it's the second book in the millenium series (first was 'the girl with the dragon tattoo') and is about a girl/woman who comes under suspicion of murder.

Are you enjoying it? i'm not very far into it yet but i am enjoying it. i found the first book hard to get into - lots of different characters, different writing style (well, i hadn't read any of his books before) but i think i'm on his wavelength this time so it's much faster to get into this book. he also doesn't have to spend quite as much time introducing the main characters.

Muminalice- I read the Tomorrow series, and then the Ellie series when i was a teen. Loved it, loved it, loved it! They can be quite addictive though

I've just started "Knit Two" by Kate Jacobs. It's the sequel to "The Friday Night Knitting Club" which revolved around the goings-on of a wool/knitting store and a lovely bunch of very different women. Was a lovely book and a great story about the power of friendship, and am looking forward to getting into Knit Two.

Sloane- I started reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but only got about 20 pages in before I gave up. I think their names really put me off and I just couldn't get into it. Has been relegated to the bottom of my ginormous 'to read' stack, so will have to attempt it again one day..is it worth the read?

Penny Vincenzi books are like that, she fixed it by writing a cast of characters in the front page of her book so you had a quick reference guide! I'm glad you mentioned this book, I've wanted to read it.
