Dee, it might not be there anymore. Or they might have a new chef.
a long time ago we went to Warrnambool for a basketball tournament, and there was this place called Ryans, it was like a smorgys/sizzler type setup.
We all got sick, the food was decidedly scary.

I absolutely detest gluggy gravy! I can stand gravy made with pan juices and whatnot, but when it deliberately has chunks of onion, garlic, bits of meat in it, to "add to the flavour" and then is as thick as anything, ohhhh, it's so... just yukkie!

I'm with Cailin on the butter & icing sugar popcorn, ohmygoodness, so delish!
And i love bbq sauce over tomato anyday, my eggs and bacon are always smothered!
And i like 100's and 1000's (round 'fairy seeds' - as they have become known') as opposed to flat sprinkles.

    I think my list'd go a mile...
    - My housemate eats fruit loops with strawberry milk ... because they weren't sweet enough in the first place?
    - Tomato Sauce (or any other than tartare or lemon juice) on fish!
    - 'Homebrand' cheese... i'm too much of a cheeseeater to buy coles brand cheese it's just so tasteless.
    - Juices with banana in them!
    - Butter or marg with nearly any spread (apart from vegemite, because vegemite is too dry without it) on toast, or sandwiches...

hmm we have me thinking now...

Yes Cailin, you may certainly call Smorgy's food criminals... any place that serves up huge tubs of bulk "salad" drowned in Kraft mayo fits that definition. Actually "Kraft" are common culprits, their version of cheese that is wrapped in foil and bought from the supermarket shelf (not refrigerated) and their individually wrapped "Singles" are soap... my kids won't eat the stuff... it's fake cheese.

*My FIL puts cold tinned beetroot on top of anykind of meal, even roast lamb with mint sauce!!
*Tomato sauce on chicken or fish eeewwww
*overcooked vegies, MIL cooks tea in the mid afternoon for about 20 hours then "reheats" it in the microwave so that you cant recognise anything...
    *plastic cheese
*that milk that is supposed to be modified to be cholesterol free by taking out the cream and putting in the vegie oil OMG soooo gross!
*fake cream in buns or on birthday cakes that are just all coloured cream and no cake.
Hmm many more but will not blabber on ...

I agree with the cheese thing. I can't stand the taste of those 'stringers' / sticks of cheese - salty crap.
DH eats cheese and onion sandwiches - just like that, doesn't even toast them - ewww

Two from the DH collection :
Ravioli with tomato sauce (not fresh tomatoes & herbs, Big Red Tomato sauce)
Baked bean soup - take a tin of baked beans, put it in a bowl & pour boiling water over, eat the beans & throw the water/sauce out. He thought that was how everyone ate baked beans!

Hehehe.... my favourite juice is my homemade mango, banana and orange smoothie. Yummy yum yum yum!!!!!!

I also like the round 100s & 1000s on fairy bread... have never had it with the flat ones...

I agree with the overcookd veges one... BLEH. I can't stand eating veges with no texture... I need my vegies to still be at least a bit solid... can't stand watery vegies either... my mum is a culprit, boils vegies and then when the strains them the broccoli breaks up, the carrots flake apart, the potatoes are powdery, the spinach becomes liquid... and they all seem to meld in with each other... ewwwwww!!!!

Ashnat... I loveit when my gravy has onion and stuff in it... gives it flavour! Yummy, its so good. I deliberately make it like that! But it's never really thick or lumpy... just has some yummy onions and stuff... bet you'd love my gravy!

    I thought of another one....
Using prepackaged cheese slices on jaffles. YUCK! I love my jaffles to have lots of real cheese melting away, not a tiny slice of plastic in it... Mmmmm.... actually I might have a cheese and ham jaffle for lunch... sounds good!

I love eating raw puff pastry!!!!! Gosh, I'm evil!!!

Food crimes that quickly spring to mind:
    fake cream
    overuse of tomato sauce
overcooking anything, particularly meat (steak esp) and veges
when my FIL smothers my special pasta dish in at least a cup of grated cheese before even tasting it - is it that bad?????
using evap milk and coconut essence to make pretend coconut milk - ewww, tastes nothing like the real thing!!!

And the worst of all for me is..........lack of FOOD RESPECT! Yes, when I cook a meal and tell people it is ready, I expect them to come to the table immediately to eat it while it is at it's best. I hate it when you say dinner is ready and then put it on the table and nobody comes. Meanwhile, the pasta is getting cold, the parsley garnish is wilting and turning brown............

ewwww coconut essence and evaporated milk??? do people do that??? Ugh! Yep, fake food is disgusting and I think it actually contributes to over eating and being over weight. The tongue/brain isn't fooled... it knows it's been ripped off and dwells even longer on what the real thing would have been like creating an obsession. If you have the real thing you will be satisfied, less likely to overeat and move on! Chocolate is a classic example: a real piece of good quality dark chocolate gives you that 'hit' without having to eat a whole block. I'm a chocoholic too sometimes but the idea of eating heaps of it is stomach turning.

Very true, there was a study about kids and fat. They gave one group the full fat food and the other the low fat version. The low fat goup actually ate more till they got to the same level of fat consumption as the first group, therefore eating more calories.

Yes, exactly, and the same applies to adults, I see it all the time. I don't buy anything low fat and our immediate family are not over weight. Our extended family however all mostly buy low fat products, especially the over weight ones. how does that work?
