There is a whole world of difference between a freshly prepared salad in a cafe or restaurant, and a nasty salad bar situation where that pasta salad has been sitting there for how long...??? I quizzed my dietician about this early in Pg and she said, exercise your commonsense. If it looks fresh (and you can tell with salad greens cos they 'wear' around the edges if they're not) and it's prepared in a reputable kitchen, then it's probably ok. I even use the pre-chopped bags of salad (wash them before use) when they are well within the use by date. No problems there!
