I think they come in a range from 750g loaf size up to a 1.5kg loaf. Mine is a 1kg size. I also bought a bread slicing guide cause I can never cut bread straight

Great idea MIA, I'm only a week into it, so I may be a little behind!

Tali mine will do a 750g or a 1kg loaf. I know you can get bigger ones =)

ours I think is 750g cause when we use the 1kg flour it overflows! so what we do now is wait for the 2nd rise to start then take out some dough and make rolls with that and the loaf with the rest

    Oh I want one!!!!
Prob is now, Bubs can't handle wheat in my milk, I could make my own gluten free bread instead of paying $6 per TINY crappy loaf! Maybe I should get a breadmaker...

I LOOOOVE home made sourdough. I killed my starter, so I need to start from scratch again. Do knead it for a long time: more keading, you get more 'bread-like' loaf. less kneading, you get a more open crumb with lots of holes (depending on preference!).

Are they still noisy when kneeding the dough? I remember my mum had one but it used to wake us up in the middle of the night when it was kneeding or doing something (our kitchen is close to DD bedroom)

Krystals, I used to make sourdough from scratch. They don't always work so well in a bread maker, as they are always different. I'll help you if you want.

Entreat, You need to knead the dough for at least ten minutes. This is necessary for any dough made with plain flour. You can feel when the dough 'changes' in its consistency.

Maybe I need to resurrect George?

I loveeeee my bread maker!!! I love the smell going through the house when it's cooking too. Mmmmm.

I want to get a bit more adventurous with different types this year. I mostly just make wholemeal loaves, and a mixed fruit one. As well as pizza dough, etc.

Netix - I got my best loaf from a long conversation lost in time. I think I kneaded for about 30mins or more! I had a lovely soft loaf, though. I also experimented with different kneading techniques, but am yet to decide 'the best'. Do you just plain wheat flour? I chop/change/mix my flours depending on what's in the cupboard: plain, wholemeal, spelt. All good fun!
