Angry supplements for energy , im tired ALL the time

im tired ALLL THE TIME .... i am grumpy and short with dh and the kids ...
i am suffering from my exhaustion and im about to crack it !!

DD takes 1.5 hrs during the day to go down for a nap ... seriously ! i BF her , put her down and she p*sses me off by not goign to sleep , whinging and standing back up , so before i lose it at her i walk away and calm down , then try again to get her to sleep , i end up BF her about 5 times to get her to even get remotely sleepy , as she shows tired signs then hypes up when i take her to bed .

DS is a hyper 3 yr old and is often hitting dd and playing up , as a result i get so angry and annoyed at him all the time .

being tired is ruinign my happiness atm ! i own a businees that needs DH to work ong hours so i dont get a break from 5 am to 7 pm ... as soon as the kids are in bed i curl up on the couch and sleep . until dh moves me into bed
im also waaay too tired to DTD .

i drink 2 L water most days and whilst i dont do any formal excersicse im fit and busy so move around alot ..

BUT DD then wakes 4-6 times a night and DS 1-2 times a night , and i BF dd back to sleep each time , coz im too tired to let her cry it out and stick to a sleep plan ,

im slowly getting worse and more and more unable to cope with the tiredness .

what is a good supplement to take ? i need to improve my energy levels or else i'll lose the plot . i hate being so tired all the time .

oh and recently , i have been having bouts of insomnia , so i can fall asleep easily some nights then wake and not get back to sleep for hours , or i cant seem to fall asleep at all

    its driving me insane !!!

had to read your post quickly in the middle of dd climbing all over me lol. But I went through this after the birth of dd i'd lost almost a litre of blood and didnt think anything of it at the time. Once she hit about 5-6 months I was bloody exhausted. Turned out I was anemic! I could literally sleep constantly. So maybe get that checked. And if it's not that then it's probs just from being a mum cause they tend to wear us out!!! I was taking um.. a natural vitamin can't remember which one but it made me feel really good and have heaps of energy.

A friend of mine told me to take Centrum Recharge, she takes it and says she's bursting with energy. I started today, I can't say whether I've had more energy or not but I do have fluro yellow wee lol.

Step 1 - see your GP, get them to do a blood test, this will check for things like anemia, thyroid issues, or anything else lurking.

Step 2 - see a naturopath. What you are describing is exactly the same thing I had - the exhausted insomnia is the giveaway. My naturopath diagnosed 'adrenal exhaustion' and put me on some foul tasting herbs (plus a few mineral/vitamin supplements) and I noticed my sleep and energy levels improving after about 10 days.

Step 3 - book the little darlings into child care or family day care for a day a week and have yourself some 'me' time. It is well worth the investment

    Marydean's advice is good.

This sounds so much like a thyroid issue. Tiredness, irritablitiy, insomnia. Are you losing weight?

Definitely get a blood test done.

Definately see your Dr and also get them to test for Vitamin D levels. An insane number of people are actually Vit D defecient. Ostelin is the solution for that one. But get your GP to do a FBC (Full Blood Count) and specifically request thyroid, Vit D, and Iron levels. These are the top three culprits for lethargy.

ive actually had bad headaches for the past month or they are worse at night and mid afternoon . lately they have been getting worse and ive started to get nose bleeds and blood in my phlegm ,
this morning , i spat up some mucous and it was full of blood , bright and dark . then i noticed i had dried bolld in my nose and now when i blow it , blood comes out .

all i can taste is blood atm .... eww ..

maybe the tiredness and the headaches are all related . i will try and get to the docs today .

might be TMI but I had lesions in my nose that wouldn't heal when my thyroid was really bad... so everytime I blew my nose I had flecks of blood in it too.... and it stung like hell!

See your GP this week Lea... we'll nag until you do!

All great advice from the others, I just wanted to add, are you getting enough exercise? I know that I feel more tired / exhausted when I don't exercise and feel more energised when I do go for a walk around the block or go to an aerobics class.

Good luck with the doctors, I hope you get some answers and start feeling better soon.

When I get run down/tired/crabby, I take Ferrograd C (an Iron & vit C supp), and that's all I need. It takes a week to kick in, but I think it's brilliant. I've tried just about everything else suggested, but Iron is the only thing that really works.

You get it from the chemist, over the counter. But I would STRONGLY suggest a blood test & then your Dr can steer you to which Ferro product to take & how much.

(and TMI: it can do funny things to your poop, or make you constipated depending on your sensitivity)

ETA: make sure you're getting enough water! headaches & tiredness in me always equal dehydration.

ok - i went to the docs on saturday after a big headace and almost passing out in public !

the doc said the blood in my phlegm was from my blood nose dripping down the back of my throat in my sleep . and i cant really remember what he said about my nose , a septum or something , but he said it was quite inflamed , gave me a script for some cream , but i havent had a bleed since , so thats good .

and i have veery low BP
he said my headaces sound like tension headaces , which is probaly true . but they are so constant and irratating he gave me a bunch of stuff for that , and a FBC blood test which i will get sometime this week .

he advised me to take it easy and not do too much for the next few days , and he said i really need to get my DD to sleep during the night as 4-6 wake ups are not good for her either , and if we all sleep will be better for all .

im drinking heaps of water , always 2 or more l a day , coz of the headaches i tend to only have water , and i get some excersise , but i know i need more , im usually active and try to get my heart rate up each day , but it cant be done all the time at the moment
