thanks for ideas re colds ... any more ideas welcome! feeling a bit helpless ...
doodlebug - we're using cloth, but haven't had to use antibiotics ... but I don't see why you would need to change? if it's going to be extra stinky, we might use double liners or something, though ...
Peanutter I think you just have to ride it out...suck away the snot and lots of cuddles help if you ask me! Hope you get over it soon. Doodlebug You have pulled the short straw haven't you! When are you free next....starting to wonder when I'm leaving Perth!!!
Peanutter that's no good about all those colds. I think from what I've heard that you just have to let kids get over it & build their immunity. To me that sounds sucky and it would be heartbreaking to see Josh sick, but it's probably for the best in the long run.
Giggles, you won't read this as you'll be gone, but I hope your travels to Brisvegas are safe & you get here amongst all the flooding, etc. Yay for Deacon sitting up by himself!!
Doodlemonkey, oh dear!! What a horrible time of year to all be sick & DH working such crazy hours. I hope you all get better very soon.
Yules, has DH start date for Jersey changed?
AFM, nothing happening here. Three days of christmas parties starting today & one tired & cranky baby come Monday I am guessing. Speaking of baby, I best go start her bottle for the day. Hope Santa is kind to you all. xo
Peta The start date hasn't changed, he is 'kinda' working for Jersey office already, but with all the faffing around they did with visas, we are still waiting for DH's to be issued. Once his is done, the kids can be done....me...I walk in with my Brit passport... Thank goodness it's easy for one of us!
So we are still in Perth until it's all sorted as DH can't arrive in the UK without me...I am his 'sponsor'.
Well I'm logging off until after Christmas. Hope everyone has a lovely time, and the babies cope with it well!
Well, that was christmas! Thank goodness its over for another year. The day turned out quite nicely, overcast but very little rain. And today the SUNSHINE has returned. Not sure for how long, but it's so nice to see it.
Not sure about your LO's but Alyssa was spoilt rotten for christmas. She got so many pressies from both our families. DH family ended up coming to ours in the afternoon, so that was nice. Nothing was said about our lunch or the fact they were also invited.
We haven't been able to do anything much besides TV and playing the last few days with the rain. The yard is so boggy so I doubt we'll even be able to go out there now. It will take a few days to dry out. Yules, it looks like it's been boiling hot over there.
Milestones, Alyssa has started walking (well stepping slowly) with some assistance from us. Now that she's doing that, she just wants to be up all the time. I'm sensing my quiet baby is about to become crazy once she's sees the other kids at daycare doing crawling & walking. Bring it on!!
Joshie got spoiled rotten too ... so much so, that we're actually going to put a bunch of the new toys in the attic, and bring them out when he gets sick of the ones we're leaving out first. I'm thinking of having 3 toy tubs with lids, each with a variety of soft and other toys, and then we'll rotate them ...
apart from some which are just way too old for him - like a xylophone and a toy clock which you use to learn the time!
but the family time was just lovely, and I had a really, really enjoyable day
That's great you had such a lovely 1st Christmas Peanutter. I have a similar kind of system with toys, the ones for when she's older are in boxes & then some of her current toys are also in a box & rotated when she appears bored.
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!! Hope you had a nice night if you did anything. We went to see friends for the arvo/night, but were home by 11pm & in bed. BORING!! All the best for a wonderful, safe, prosperous new year full of fun ladies! xo
Hope you all had a great Christmas & NY. I was in bed at 9:30pm....how absolutely lame! I was so tired though, I could barely keep my eyes open for Wife Swap!
Darcie also got spoilt, but not as much as Max. Our stuff from here will be getting packed up to go to Jersey on the 7th (was the 30th....but that's too soon to take the toys away) so Max & Darcie should have enough to do until then! We got big things purely because we know that DH's work is paying for our stuff to go over! By the looks our stuff will arrive way before we do! STILL waiting on DH's visa! We spent Xmas day with the IL's and the afternoon at our BFF's! Was a good day, but Max certainly was overtired! His grumpiness lasted a few days too....Darcie faired much better!
Wow Peta Darcie & Alyssa are doing the same thing. I went and visited Dad the other day and he was walking her holding her hands! She loves being up...she does the biggest grin when she is on her legs! I really don't want her to walk yet though...eeeeek! I've been trying to put her on her tummmy more (bought some soft mats for the floor) and she's started pushing up onto her FEET and doing the downward dog Yoga move! When sitting now she can bum shuffle around too...it's so cute...arms flapping, legs flapping and gets from A to B! Loving it! Darcie has so much character!
Today we are going back to our BFF's place for a day of swimming / punting and playing! Today is my Mum's birthday too so we've done some planting in the garden for her and got her a little cake.
Well that is it from me....I hope you all have an awesome day today and here's to 2011! Our babies are going to be 1 in 5 months!!!! WOW!
J man is almost crawling too ... he can roll and go backwards like no one's business, but crawling forward is just slightly out of reach still ... he gets himself so unbelievably worked up though! rocking back and forward on his hands and knees, or feet and knees, then trying to launch himnself forwards ... just isn't quite there yet. lots of shouting and grizzling as he tries ... he'll get there! hopefully not much longer - it's tough seeing him so frustrated!
still not sitting though - he's capable of it, he'll sit with you with no support, but as soon as you sit him by himself, he falls down pretty quickly ... again - he'll get there!
I'm not going to get too stressed out about his development yet - crawling and sitting and teeth all seems to be so incredibly varied from baby to baby ...
Peanutter J Man and D are sounding very similar....is he unsettled at night at the moment? Darcie is moving around so much I think she is practicing in her sleep! Ellie HNY to you too! Glad your DH got out of the floods OK. Wow I can't even imagine what it would be like....what a horrible disaster over there in QLD.
Well I'm still stuck in Limboland...dear God please let this be over soon!
for ending of limboland, Yules!! Still think of you as Minimax ... ah!
J man isn't too unsettled at night - though two or three nights in the last week, he has taken a while to go down, or has woken up after going down, which is complete anomaly for him! I hope it doesn't last, because it makes it really hard for me to get up (at 6am) and go to work if I haven't had a proper sleep ...
ellie - for you too! we've got family up in Qld, and it's just devestating what's happening there and in NSW etc ... we're that there's not the double whammy this year of floods and fires, like the last couple of years ... I'm glad you're safe, though
everyone else hello!! I hope your Christmas and New Years were lovely, and that 2011 is just fab.
Soooooooooo ... what prezzies did you get? what are the plans for this year? are you thinking about your next bub? are you sick of people asking you these things?
Ellie glad to hear DH got home ok. The floods certainly are Huge & it will take a long time for people to recover. Thankfully our little corner in the South East has been untouched, but you never know what it ahead.
Peanutter, Alyssa has been more disturbed in her sleep but I think she is practising her new skills. Her favourite trick is to crawl backwards into a corner & then she is stuck. She hasn't worked out the going forward part yet! As far as pressies, my DH surprised me with 2 pairs of PJ's (badly needed). We don't usually buy each other pressies so that was nice. Alyssa got a ton including a blow up pool, teaset, pull along toy, purse, hair clips, dresses & more. As far as plans for the year, hopefully another bub ;-), but we will see. Nature will take care of that. And No, I'm not sick of people asking me these things, Ha Ha Ha!
Yules here's hoping the authorities hurry up with your paperwork. Government departments are useless with paperwork. It certainly makes things hard when you have 2 kids in tow & no "home" as such.
Self absorbed blab, sorry, tomorrow is my first day back to work. Am feeling sad, excited, tentative, like I'm doing the wrong thing by my beautiful girl. I want to cry but I can't, this was our choice afterall. My brain keeps reminding me of all the fabulous things she will learn in a "classroom" environment compared to what I can give her one on one. I know only time will tell if either of us are comfortable & I need to give it a few months. Secretly I'm hoping to fall preggers again sooner rather than later. It won't be worth me working 3 days a week with 2 kids in daycare, so then I'll be a SAHM.
On a positive albeit very different note, it would seem my dairy allergies may be gone. After a bout of Giardia (water based bacteria stomach bug thing) I became dairy intolerant, but I have just had a chunk of potato bake and seem to be fine so far an hour later (normally I would have reacted by now). I think it's been about 2 years since I was sick, so maybe my stomach has finally mended. It will certainly make life easier & I have missed so many yummy foods! Though I will probably stack on heaps of weight eating all that yummy food again.
I hope you are all going well & will speak to you soon. xo
Once again, I missed the change of threads and haven't been getting the updates in my subscriptions
Happy New Year!!!!
Carmelo was crazily spoilt by everyone (especially Daddy ) for Christmas, it was lovely after trying for over 8yrs to get another baby to finally spend Christmas with one
New Years Eve was spent at home with some family here, we just lazed New Years Day away in the pool with the kids... was perfect!
Carmelo is up to the stage where he is crawling backwards and round and round - rolling over and over everywhere but hasn't quite figured out how to move forward either! Lots of rocking back and forward on all fours, and lots of frustration! He moved his left leg forward yesterday as he reached out to get a toy, but didn't quite realise what he'd done! Look out when he does, though
Sitting up confidently on his own now, he hates laying down unless he's sleeping.
I also forgot how frustrating this age is while breastfeeding.... the busy baby that doesn't stop moving, prodding, pinching, hitting, hair pulling poor mummy!!! I love it though
He's now weighing 7.75kgs as of a few days ago... so not so much the premmie baby anymore!
Also saying Mum Mum and Dad Dad continuously is very cute also
Good friends of ours announced New Years Eve they're 8 weeks pregnant with their 2nd (1st is 18 months old) and I must admit I got extremely clucky!
DH & I have plans for us to try anywhere from Carmelo's 1st birthday... finances pending of course
A lovely email letting us know our IVF clinic fees for each cycle has now gone up to $7100 was not the greatest way to start the year, lol! Its ok though, Carmelo's cycle was $6500 in August 2009, so it was expected.
DS1 starts high school at a private school in a few weeks, so providing our finances can handle his humungous fees, an IVF cycle and me to continue not working, we'll try for bub #3 anywhere from June-December this year.
(Oh, and I still have 10kgs of IVF/baby weight to lose first as well!)
Holly good to hear from you. Sounds like Carmelo is doing great! IVF is so expensive (I remember those fees). We used to have a low interest credit card that we used till the refund came back from medicare then we'd pay off the difference. Not sure if Medicare still puts in much money though, I know they were thinking of dropping it. June will be here in no time for you.
AFM - work is like I never left & daycare is going well so far. It's only been 2 days but already Alyssa was much more settled today than Wednesday. They had her in one of those motorised swings today when I got there. She looked like such a zombie all zoned out. I've stuck to half days this week & will go back to full days next week. I did have a few tears when I left her there yesterday, but I am very comfortable thus far with the centre we chose so that helps me relax. I'm finding major organisation is the key to getting out the door by 715am each day.
Not much else going on. Hope you are all doing well and ready for yet another weekend! xo
Hey everone, seems like ages since I have been on BB!!
Just a quick question, for mums still breastfeeding.... Lately Zarlen is really fidgety when he is feeding, keeps pulling off, trying to sit up, kicking his legs and seems to be getting bored... I dont know how many feeds per day he should be having but atm he is only having about 3-4 from when he wakes up in the morning until bedtime, is this normal for almost 8months?! Then overnight he has 1 feed close to 6am. He is also eating solids for breakfast lunch & dinner. Even when he has those breastfeeds feeds, he is only at the breast drinking for a few mins each side so Im not sure if he is getting enough. Does this sound like he may be weaning himself? Maybe Im just reading too much into it, I dunno. Also feels like I dont have as much milk as I used to. Im kinda sad about it cos I was hoping to feed for a bit longer, even though I need to stop in a few months if we want to start ttc again. I probs should put this post in the breastfeeding forum to get more response hey =)
In other news he is now army crawling, and has cut his first tooth, and it all happened on the very same day!
