Here is where you left off
Fletch, hi! Kynan's still on a 3 hourly routine. He goes from 7pm-7am without a feed though (well, he does when he's not being a crankypants LOL). I'm going to try and change to a 4 hourly routine too. He's now able to stay awake for 2 hours (just!) so I just have to get him to sleep for 2 hours. At Zane's age though Kynan would only be able to stay awake for maybe 1hr 15mins at the most. Perhaps Zane still needs that bit of extra sleep for the moment?
Belinda, I hope Coby settles down for you soon!
Bec, glad to hear you got your new modem!
Jo, did Olivia enjoy her birthday? Sounds like it was a huge day!
Bec - thats for the food tip!
Angel - we stayed at my parents last night (as mike is away on tour) and Hendy is going thfough the most massive growth spurt! He has gone from his 4 hour routine back to his 3 hour routine and each feed is pigging like he hasnt been fed for weeks (never seen him like this before!). Last night he had 6 feeds until bed (6:30pm) then woke at 10:30pm (never in his 4.5 months done this!!) ate like id been starving him, then woke again at 3:30 and pigged down both BB's again!!! Today he has been demanding feeds every 3 hours again! Im so exhausted from the wake - ups and the extra he is demanding from my BB's! Otherwise he is just in the most beautiful and placid mood all the time! So at least i know he is a very happy boy.I hope Kynan sorts his sleeping out for you too. Its hard when they are knocked out of their routine isnt it?
Well one really good outcome of all this extra feeding is that i now weigh less than my pre pregnancy weight!! YAY so other than the flabber on my tummy im feeling good.
Heather, hopefully Hendrix will settle down again in a few days then if it's a growth spurt! It's a bit of a shock to they system being woken up a lot in the middle of the night once you're used to having a decent sleep again isn't it LOL. He sounds like he's got a gorgeous personality though.
Thanks Angel, was itching to get back on
You're welcome Heather, I'm following info off a Heinz pamphlet I got from our MCHN, it has all ages and eating guides on it, really handy.
Angel - such a shock! but then ive got to remember that i have been really spoilt with such a sleepy settled baby. BUT i hope that the sleepiness returns! He is a really really gorgeous tempermented boy. Thanks for your comment! Kynan seems like a really beautifully calm boy too.
Fletch - yeah im really happy to be pre- preg! Mike gets back tomorrow night thank god! I really hate not having him home! Zanes such a good boy! Lots of sleep is great!! Dont worry too much about him not staying up the full 2 hours, he will do it when he is ready. Hendy doesnt stay up 2 hours yet!!
Hi ladies!
Sorry have barely been on, finishing uni stuff this week (YAY all done til March!) and rellies returning to Ireland so busy with them, but now I'm free!! Except of course now I have to prepare for Christmas and the mammoth task of buying presents for the world's most pickiest SIL's - FUN FUN FUN!![]()
Me and Cole and his feeding seem to be back to normal after my terror flu last week - I had it for five days in total but couldnt take any cold & flu tabs since I'm breastfeeding NOT HAPPY JAN! But things are back to normal now, thanks to a bit of Gatorade (boosts your supply really well!) He is still putting on huge amounts of weight and loves his boobs to the point of refusing to take bottles of EBM at the moment so I'm going to stick to just b/feeding for as long as he is happy with it. Definitely going to be a boob man!
He is happy as a clam and I spent today taking pics of him and Lucy playing, he loves her so much he just giggles whenever she goes near him its adorable! I'm so glad I had my kids close together, they amuse each other.
heather - well done on being back to pre-preg weigth, its great to fit back into 'not-fat' pants isnt it? I wa back at normal pre-preg wieght but my stint witht he flu has left me a few kilos under that (but I'm not complaining!)
Time for an early night, hope all are well!
xxxCaz
Wow, it's so quiet in here today!
Fletch, LOL @ boring Zane! He probably just feels sooo relaxed & comfy around you that he can't help but drift off LOL.
Heather, it's funny, Kynan & Hendrix both seem to be really placid and easy going and I think they've both had unsettled periods at similar times LOL.
Caz, sounds like you've been busy! Glad to hear you are feeling better and the feeding is back to normal. Kynan is the same with refusing to take a bottle of EBM. I tried to be sneaky and change from boob to bottle when he had his eyes closed but he knew the difference LMAO!
Kate, sorry to hear about all the probs you've been having lately! I hope things settle down for you soon. Sounds like poor Kelsey has been going through a lot of changes. I hope you don't still feel guilty about switching to formula? You have nothing to feel guilty about. It sounds like it is was the best option for both you and Kelsey.
Welcome Back Kate and Kelsey!!(was looking for a person blowing a kiss but a hug wil have to surfice!!). All i can recommend is that you buy the wonder weeks. It was recommended by kelly (bellybelly) and i ordered it and it is fantastic. It is based on much research and looks at the neurological development of our bubs and it is right on par! Hendy has been 'off' for the last 5 weeks (exactly as shown in the book) and right on cue at 19.5 weeks he just changed and became my happy little fellow again. Ive had for the past 5 weeks exactly what you have had with Hendy not sleeping waking and crying and just never settled. So i dont have much advice except that if you ride it out the settled kelsey will return really soon!
Angel - it does seem that Hendrix and Kynan have their little blowouts at the same time. Id love to see them together one day!!
Fletch - yay at Zane doing so wonderfully! I have given Hendy 2 formula feeds over the past few days to supplement my milk as he was having a major growth spurt and my milk just wasnt keeping up and we gave him Nan Ha gold too. He loved it which made me a little sad but im glad in another way. Im not going to continue giving it too regularly as my BM supply has increased but i know i have it on hand now. Thanks for asking about Mike, i cant wait we get to go get him from the airport in an hour and a half!
Hello everyone, a short post as Im trying to get dinner ready (super mum/wife)
Kate - that is what happened to me with BF, Coby got a bit slack and was biting and fussing at the breast and my milk sort of got less and less each time, because he wasn't feeding properly, so consequently we ended up with him on formula. I had some sort of separation anxiety I think when I weaned him, but its all good now!! How do you feel now?
Coby has had a good day today, he's been very chatty and laughing alot. We went to the paediatrician for his reflux again today and he FINALLY gave me something for it. Just Zantec - it won't ease the vomitting but will stop the acid refluxing up into his oesophagus. Poor little fella, I would hate to be vomitting all day everyday. Hopefully this will make him feel better!
Coby had some more vegies tonight for dinner and loved them.
Have any of you ladies seen or heard of anywhere that you can buy some novelty christmas outfits for babies? I am looking for something fun to dress Coby in for some photos but can't find anything....
Hope you are all well, chat soon...
Bel-I saw some in the reject shop the other week, you could give them a try![]()
Evening all,
Kate - sorry to hear Kelsey is having a rough time of transition, she must just be a bit confused with the changes! its annoying when they start biting and fussing at the breast isnt it? I just tried something last week that booste dmy milk back up after being sick, GATORADE. It helps rehydrate your body so you have the energy to make more milk, withiin a day or two I felt a big difference and now I'm back to normal supply. But if she needs formula too, its ok, they wouldn't sell it if it was bad for your baby! I know its a hard decision, but in the end she just needs milk, from whatever source. Hope things look up for you soon.
Angel - I cant believe Kynan even noticed when you switched from boob to bottle! Was it mid-feed? I must give it a try. Even though uni is over for the year, there are still going to be times when I need to be out without him so he'll have to relearn how to take a bottle whether he likes it or not! He was taking one fine when he had EBM for his rollover feed, but we cut that out a few weeks ago and he hasnt taken a bottle since.
Fletch - sorry to hear you're having troubles with Zane's day sleeps, it can be so frustrating. My DD Lucy had trouble napping during the day at first, we found that being in a darkened room worked best, if it was too light she would just get too distracted and want to be awake still. Does he sleep in his room for naps? Well done on the weight loss, good job!
Heather - glad to hear Hendy is back to his happy self. Funny how they go through these unsettled periods then all of a sudden switch back again isnt it?
Shannon - sorry to hear Jessalyn was in hospital in Brisbane, you sound like you're doing an awesome job coping with everything.
Belinda - hope Coby is feeling better with the Zantac, I know it helpe dme with my acid reflux when pregnant but it must be horrible for the little babies throwing up all the time from it. Cant help on teh Christmas outfits sorry, I just got little t-shirts from Big W for my kids as that was all I could find.
Well I think Cole is teething, his hands are constantly in his mouth and the amount of dirbble coming out of him is disgusting! I remember with Lucy she started dribbling profusely when she began teething so mayeb this is the start. He has began biting and chewing on my boobs too when feeding him so I'm not really looking forward to teeth!!
Is there anywhere on this site where you can show photos? I've noticed a few of you talk about pics but I cant see anywhere for them...
Have a good night!
xxxCaz
Hey girls,
haven't been around much because DH has switched our internet from ISDN to ADSL and by mistake, instead of being on an unlimited download, we are on a limited one and after just 4 days into the month, we had already used 45% of our monthly limit!!! ATM we are up to 83% and we still have 2 weeks to go. Sheesh. So we are limiting our time on the internet and unfortunately my time on BB counts as recreation, not business and business has to come first [sigh].
Anyway, some personals first;
Kate, I don't know what EASY is, but as to your query about feeding and resettling, I had a bit of an issue with this as well a few weeks back and the midwife told me not to feed Pup more frequently than a 2 hour gap. So if he is fed at 2pm and then is unsettled and grumpy/grizzly soon afterwards, still not feed him until at least 4pm. She said that the grizzliness (?) most probably is not hunger related but more likely tiredness or boredom or something else. From the word go, I have mainly followed the advice of this one midwife 'cause I think a lot of what she says is common sense. Hence, I delay feeding again until the 2 hour period clicks over. In the meantime, to settle Pup, I try to distract him by taking him outside to look at the garden/dogs/chooks/cows etc, play games with him (well, shake rattle toys at him!), put him in the pram and go for a walk, if it is coming up to his last feed for the night (about 7pm) I give him a bath to waste time etc etc.. I have found that largely, this sort of stuff works and I can get through usually 2.5hours even when he is REALLY unsettled.
As for the sweating, I used to get this early on - wake up bathed in sweat like you - but now I don't get it. Yeah, I think it is a hormonal thing (???)
Kate and Fletch, I was the same weight as both of you just before birth 95kg. Unfortunately, I am only down to about 85kg, so BFing has not stripped weight off me as I would have liked. I have to do something ewxtra. However, to be fair to myself, I haven't had a really good time of it since Pup was born insofar as trying to reduce weight. Because he was a c-section, I was restricted for 6 weeks afterwards for surgery healing, then I got mastitis and was laid up for a week, and recently I have broken my ankle and have been inactive for 6 weeks. So thats.....13 weeks out of about 18 weeks of sitting on my bum feeding my face!!! And probably for the other 5 weeks, I was too tired to do anything anyway!!
Shannon, great to see you back!! Sorry to hear that Jess has not been well again. Pup is the opposite to Jess tho in the poo department. He does 1 poo every 7 - 10 days. And a MIGHTY poo it is too. He did one today, so I'm clear until at least sometime next week!
Storm, I have missed the fact that you are pg again!! Congrats. So Zac was .... what, about 3 months old when you conceived again? Are you BFing or using formula? Did you have a period? I am hoping to get pg agian in a couple of months (hopefully in Jan) but I have no indication of AF returing and I am solely BFing.
Jo, I am hanging out for the kiddy b'day parties!!
Hi to everyone else.
Well, Pup sicked up again on me, which made it 3 days in a row, and I was contemplating taking him to the dr, but it has stopped now, so I have no idea what that was all about. He is furiously chewing on anything that remotely gets mear his mouth (usually his owns hands) but I can't feel any teeth emerging. Maybe the gums are starting to tingle??? Drool and dribble all over the place tho. At least 3 - 4 bibs a day. Bibs are nearly more important than nappies ATM!!! LOL
One of our ducks has been sitting on some eggs for the past month or so and on Saturday, 3 of them hatched (1 didn't make it). Yesterday, DH put a bowl of water in the pen with them and when I checked on them later, 2 were in the water....drowned!! OMG!! I scooped them out and one was definately dead, but one slightly moved. I shook it and rubbed it and gave it mouth to beak resucitation (!) and got it moving, although it loked very sick. I was considering donging it on the head when I decided to take it inside and dry it off as it was VERY cold. Anyway, to cut a long story short, it survived!!!! YAY. So we have 2 ducklings now. And I gave them some duckling feed tonight and the mother duck attacked me!! Sheesh. Thanks I get! We've called it "Miracle". And yes, there were lots of tears from me!!!
Well, not much else has gone on. Pup nearly rolled over the other day, so I'm thinking that he might just do it in a few days. The video camera is ready everytime I put him on the floor.
My cousin had a baby boy the other day (have I already posted this?? Mummy brain!). The baby was 11lb 7oz. What a whopper! The baby was breech so they did a ceaser. Just as well. It had a head circumf of 42cm. That is the size of Pup's head now (his is 42.5cm at 4months old).
Well, best push off. I'll hopefully sneak on before our limit dries up!

Yes! In the first 12wks or so, everytime I went to feed Cole (and Lucy too from memory) my temp would rise a few degrees. I always had to take my jumper off, or if it was a hot day, would take my t-shirt off too (not in public though![]()
) I would sweat heaps too, it was really annoying. It has calmed down now, I dont always feel my whole body heat up beforehand, but I'm flustered or busy it still does. You're not alone!

PS Thanks for the email list of times & dates for immunisations!
Shannon, welcome back! Ouchies @ the thrush. I hope that clears up quickly! You are doing so well to still be BF after all that you & Jess have been through. WTG!!
Belinda, great to hear Coby had a good day yesterday. What's he been like today? Hope the Zantec helps!
Caz, yep, the boob to bottle switch was mid-feed. I waited for him to completely relax and close his eyes, and then very gently swapped but as soon as he sucked he got suspicious and opened his eyes LOL. He was very unimpressed to find a bottle instead of a boob let me tell you... he gagged and spat it out LOL. I'm going to try him on a sippy cup one of these days. Good luck with getting Cole to take a bottle again!
Kate, I get hot flushes and stuff as well but mainly because my thyroid is a little overactive. Annoying isn't it! Yay for Kelsey sleeping so well today! Hope you are feeling better soon.
Hayseed, glad to hear Pup has stopped throwing up! Kynan's been doing that a fair bit again lately although thankfully not as bad as when he had reflux. I hate going around smelling like off milk all day LOL. Yay for your little ducky surviving! WTG! That's like what happened with our little chickens last year... 2 of the 3 drowned in their water dish. OMG @ your cousin's baby! That's absolutely massive!
Fletch, have fun dressing Zane up for his pics with Santa. I want to take Kynan for a santa photo too but I don't know where (we don't have Myer here).
Apparently Kynan has some kind of fungal thing on his head?? I had to take him to the chemist today to get some cream for it.
YAY Brooke MOVE HERE!!! We'd love it wouldnt we Fletch?? Then Zane and Hendrix can fight over Maya!! haha
Hayseed - OMG about the liddle ducky! I was almost in tears just reading your post. I can imagine you writing a childrens picture book about it!
Well Hendy tried his first solids this morning and it went really well. He only had a teaspoon but managed that well and seemed to like it. He is a little grizzly though so i wonder if he has a tummy ache?
Geez you girls can type and chat!! Like Brooke I skimmed through the kazillion posts - you have all been so busy.
Coby has been much better today with the Zantac and is even sleeping a little better, still has his 40 minute stints, but is more easy to settle now and goes down without too much of a fight...
Im sorry I've lost track of all the posts, but who's pregnant again? Just wondering if you were B/F or bottle?
I haven't B/F for a couple of weeks now and still no sign of AF, anyone else have any stories about when AF returned for them?
How are all your hubby's with the babies, are they home alot to help you out or do most of you handle it mostly on your own? DH and I are having a small "discussion" about the amount of time that he is home ATM, as he is at football training and oztag and touch footy almost every night of the week, Im getting a little annoyed!! Have tried talking calmly about it with him, but he says he'll try to be home more, then the following week, he's back at it again - I am at my wits end at the moment with him, he's just really slack!!!
