    Talking Huuuuge!

This is what I hear every day....gee your huuuuge... you sure it's not twins (I insert funny reference to the newly huge twin sisters above singular baby)... my daughter/friend/relative was that big full term.....you're looking veeeeeery pregnant today.... morning fatty...

har fooking har har no joke.. it's endless and I try and be light hearted about it but grrrr, people are so insensitive. Even though they are 'joking' hearing it 'jokingly' from 10 people or so a day gets very... well lets just say its hard to be light hearted by the 10th time.

Yes I do look very pregnant for 19 weeks but at my 16 week check up the mid wife said all very normal, so normal in fact I'm boring apparently! My placenta is anterior, could this make my tummy look bigger? Just curious really. I dont care and I am not overly concerned about above, just venting really. I am enjoying this pregnancy more as I know it will likely be the last one. I am sure some of you are copping the same. At least this time I am not getting as many advice/horror birth stories etc as everone knows its my 2nd..

for us all... I need it

I was recieving similar comments around half way with this pregnancy. I would get those "oh, you still have 4 months to go!" comments, and the look of shock that goes with it. Now at 39 weeks people are telling me I don't look like I am due in a week. I think this is just as annoying to be honest - I feel like I should be having a baby right now!!

I think we just get bigger earlier the second time and then it gets back on track as we get closer to the end. Try to ignore the insensitive people, they don't mean to be insensitive (I hope not anyway).

I was big cause I put on a lot of weight in the 1st tri, LOL!
I am just about as big now as I was at the end of my last pregnancy. And I still have 7-9 weeks to go
The second time round everything just stretches out more easily.
I'm sorry you are copping it from all sides People just can't help themselves As always, remind yourself that things people say to pregnant women are all about them, not about you.

I get the same thing. It's my second pg and I definitely started showing earlier this time around. I think people don't realise how insensitive they are being and I just try to ignore it! DH says I should be nasty and say 'yes there is a baby in there what's your excuse' lol. Trust me I've considered it!!!

Not sure about the placenta. I had an anterior placenta last time but a posterior one now and I'm probably a bit bigger now than I was at the same stage with my first.

    Another HUGE belly here!
You should see it now!!!! I am surprised I can still walk!
I don't get too many comments anymore. People just assume I AM having twins, an just get looks of shock on their faces when they see the belly.
I love my belly getting so much attention... maybe I am just weird??

I'm quite big this time too. With DD i got big early then stayed the same (well it seemed) for ages. I think that wil happen again but def bigger for 15 weeks than I was with DD. It doesn't matter what shape or size you are though - people always feel like they can comment. My gf is 30 weeks and tiny and people are alwasy asking her if the baby is okay.

For some reason when you are pregnant people feel they can offer an opinion on your weight. And if they don't directly say it, they say things like, "oh you're ONLY 4months?" In other words - YOU ARE SO FAT! ha ha Oh well - just go with the flow! Everyone is diff!

Why don't people just lay off? Geez.

It's not their business to comment. I'm the sort of person who would probably say, "Oh, thank you for that heartless comment. It's just what I needed today." and walk away.

People don't dare say that sort of thing to me anyway, 'cause they know I'll respond accordingly (see above). Plenty of people copped it when I was having DS. But I was getting the opposite - you're not very big, is everything OK? Have you been to the Dr?????? etc, etc. DS's placenta was anterior then too, so I'm not sure how much that effects it.

I'm bigger this time, because it's my second, but also the placenta is posterior and I reckon (not medical opinion) it must be pushing the baby forward.

Far out, some people are dopey! "Have you been to the Dr?" LOL, I'd have fun with that one:
"No, I am just so in tune with my baby that I've decided we don't need Drs. Right now, my baby wishes you would just naff off." etc.

Hey hun - i am soooooooo hearing you! I am 19 weeks as well, and massive. I have been obviously pregnant since about 7 weeks. Had my ultrasound the other day and even the lady that took it couldnt get over the size of me - she thought i was there for my 28 week scan!

I am beyong being polite now - if people i dont know say something i flat out lie and tell them i am further along, so my size seems more normal to them.

But i was getting it alot in the office - so last week i responded with a perfectly executed dirty look or evil eye, followed by a "hows fu*K off sound" probably not the most mature way to handle things - but worked a treat!! neadless to say - no more comments from work collegues!

the other one i am sick to death of hearing is how fat my arse is now! hmmm thanks for pointing that out! i cant see it - so i actually wasnt awear that i now have something else to be upset about!

although my cousin didnt get such a good reaction either as i pointed out - well i am pregnant - whats your excuse???

Its actually surprising how much attitude i can get away with at the moment! Not too many people are willing to take on a pregnant lady!!!

I was massive with my son. When I was 5-6 months along, everyone kept asking me if I was due any minute! He was transverse, and I carried him high as well. On top of that, I gained around 23 kg during that pregnancy!

This time I started showing a LOT earlier, but I'm not nearly as big. I still look very pregnant at 23 weeks, but the baby being a lot lower helps so much.

lol i got asked if i was sure it wasnt twins on saturday night and im only 13 weeks along!!!! people are so rude sometimes.
dont worry about the size of your tum, its no reflection on the size of ur bub, people really need to learn that telling a pregnant woman that she looks massive really isnt hwat a mum 2 be wants to hear! they should just tell us that we look fantastic!!

Skybie, what you should say is, "Oh, you're right. It could be twins. The Doctor didn't see twins, but I'm sure you're much more eminently qualified to tell how many children I have in my great fat belly than he is. Did you go to University to learn what you know or did you just get that from your Fruit Loops packet this morning?"

Oooooooooooooooooooo.......... I could have a field day.

Yeah, the "have you been to the Dr?" question always made me laugh. "No, I thought I'd do this without medical intervention. I'm a modern woman in the 21st Century, how hard can this be?" See instruction on Fruit Loops.

I have been massive with each pg - this time is no exception. Last night I went to drop some keys off to someone who works for the same organisation, but who I haven't seen for a while. She took one look at me and said " you look great. How long until the baby is due?" I replied "just under four months." Her Eyes nearly popped out of her head. She didn't actually say anything (she is much too tactful for that), but she just had this complete look of shock on her face - she obviously thought I was due in a coupld of weeks not months.

Yup - HUGE here. And really low so everyone is making it a point to make sure I am sure of my dates.
Um, hello - you all know I miscarried 6 weeks prior to this one that required a D&C - there is no chance I and the 8 doctors and sonographers are wrong about my dates.

You poor thing, that is so annoying. I have decided that people just have to say something to pregnant women, whether they know what they're talking about or not. I also get the twins comments & it's not funny when you hear it a hundred times a day!! I'm having a boy & people also tell me it's a girl for sure. When I say that he is definitely a boy, they argue with me!! Because of course they don't need a scan & a degree to be able to tell these things. Aaaaarrrgh

I've started coping the 'oh you're huge!' comments lately too and it's already driving me nuts!!! Take a look at my belly pic from 2 weeks ago (so 15 weeks) https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...&size=big&cat= - this is the pic that caused a bit of a stir with a few of my friends. Even one of my best friends, who is a midwife, text me to say 'my god, you're huge! are you sure there's not two in there?" I thought she of all people should know better. I was quick to respond "I've had 3 scans and there is definitely only one and I'm also at my pre-pregnancy weight so I don't really think I'm that big at all" She told me 'it was the midwife in her' - what ever that means!!!!

I just had one of the old guys at work walk past me and say 'hey fatty, how are you?' OK, so he's having a joke but once again, I just don't think I'm that big!!! I'm short, pretty tiny most of the time (size 8-10) and thought I looked quite 'normal' for 17 weeks (or 15 when the pic was taken). I guess being little to begin with makes my belly more noticable but I don't think 'huge' is really the right word for it!! Grrrr

Thanks for starting this thread and letting me vent! I feel much better now
