I wash my hair once a week. It's really dry and looks horrible when it's clean - needs a bit of natural oil and like a pp, it looks best a few days after a wash. I also straighten it and the first time I do this after washing it takes about 40mins because it's quite thick etc. Then for the rest of the week I just do a quick touch up for 10 mins every day or so.

olive I totally agree about the colour affecting the dryness - when I was dying dark/red my hair felt awesome and actually had more moisture in it (salon colouring) but now that I'm going lighter with blond foils it is back to being really dry. I put moroccon oil in it after washing, when still wet and I have found that helps. I also put product on my hair before I straighten it (serum) to protect it a little bit more.

This thread is SO timely. I have curly hair which gets attacked by straighteners all the time. I HAVE to wash it every second day or it's a grease ball.
I decided these school hols I would give my hair a holiday too. I have stretched the washing out to every third day and I only straightened it once (when i was meeting up with someone for the first time and i didn't want to turn up all dishevelled!). It seems to be enjoying the time off. I might keep at it a bit longer.

I actually didn't think it was possible to go up to a week - I am envious of you guys!

ETA: a hairdresser once told me to buy some 'in between washes' product which makes your hair look less greasy. Has anyone seem/tried it?

I do mine about once a week in winter but more often in winter.
My hair is really long (past my waist) and thick so it is so hard to get dry. The only time I get to wash it is at night and I hate going to bed with wet hair and I don't have the time to dry it.
I gets a bit oily by day 5 but 9 times out of 10 I wear it up any way.
I straighten it for special occasions and love it straightened but it takes so long to do.

I'm trying to aim for 4-5 days. Atm the longest has been 3

I got a large barrel curler so I have been doing that most days. My hair is so much easier to look after since my recent hair cut. I am VERY happy with it.
