I think shoulder length but shaped around your face would look good Sarah. I would get a few layers but not at the front just to give you more body. My last haircut i got the front part layered and I hate it!!
My hair at the moment is mid way down my back, so quite long. I like having my long hair, the problem is that due to hypothyroidism it's quite horrible, badly split & breaks very easily. Now that I'm on thyroid meds I expect it to start to get better soon, no consolation right now though. So what I'm thinking of is getting it cut to shoulder length or just above with some layered bits around my face. My biggest problem is I don't know if it will suit me because I've only had my hair cut short & properly styled once & hated the style! I have had it shoulder length which I liked, but it was boring & cut straight across with no layering etc.
Oh I don't know what to do......

My advice would be to go shorter but not so much so you cant tie it up (if i am super busy and dont have time for it i always just throw mine up) if its ok and you think you'd like shoreter then have more off in a few weeks. i'd do it gradually so its not too much of a shock. My DH hates me with short/er hair so i have to do the gradual thing for him and he doesnt notice really that way. Just remember at the end of the day its only hair, it will grow back.
Go for it a new do is great for the soulAnd in reality its only hair. Just make sure you get a good hair dresser, and make sure whatever they do you can maintain

I agree with Nat! Don't cut it in a style that you can't tie back and it won't fall in your face. I had my hair layered and thinned out in the back and have a looong fringe that I can stick behind my ear. I can leave it loose when the occasion asks it, or have a pony for housework and bub's bathtime
And like the girls said - hair grows back (thankfully)
Make your appointment with a hairdresser that you trust and take a picture of the style that you like. The hairdresser can then discuss if it would fit your face, or how to make small adjustments to fit your face shape.
OOO - the great thing about cutting hair is saving on all that shampoo AND it does not take that long to dry!!![]()
Cut it.
Make sure you talk to the hairdresser about what will suit your hair first and they can help guide you along.... it is their job afterall.
I spent years with my hair long with long layers just at the bottom of my hair. I recently got it cut to shoulder length with short layers and wish I'd done it years ago. I basically just told the hairdresser to cut as many layers into it as she felt necessary to get some shape into it as my hair is quite thin.
I ended up with a very stylish cut and I got so many compliments in that first week I felt like a movie star. Whenever I saw anyone who hadn't seen the new cut they said how great it looked....even all the men I work with were commenting it and you know what men are like....they never notice hair cuts. I think it took years off the way I looked and my hair now frames my face beautifully. I also look like I have way more hair than before because it sits up rather than just hanging there like it used to do.
I can still put it in a pony tail but some strands at the front are too short for it but they just sit behind my ears or you could pin those bits back if you wanted to, but I rarely do it as my hair always looks good now just as it is.... I just wash it and leave it to dry and it just sits perfectly.
go for it!! I just got a huge chop off mine and I feel like a new woman!
Dont worry...it will grow back. And Being pregnant it should grow back nice and quickly
Speaking as someone who has short hair more often than long...I say cut it! It will grow back
Have a good long think about what you like though and make sure you go to a hairdresser you can have a good chat to.
sarah, i went and got mine chopped just over a week ago - had been thinking about it for a while - but having one arm in a sling and pretty much useless, i just said "chop it!"
i now have shorter hair that is much easier to manage single handedly - and i love it!
make sure you don't go too drastic as the others have said though - small steps otherwise you might hate it and be frightened of trying something again another day!
I agree, chop it!!
Just go shoulder length to start with and add some layers. That way you can go shorter if you want to and it won't be such a drastic change if you don't like it.
I have quite short hair these days and every time I try to grow it out I just end up cutting it again. It's more manageable when it's shorter and it makes me feel older having longer hair.
Although I have annoyingly soft, silky hair (I am not being vain here, I really do and it drives me nuts) which means that while most people with my length could still tie it back, I can't. It just slips straight out again. It's the one downside to having it short. But if my hair was coarser, it would stay back.
how exciting - a new hair cut is such a refreshing change to make
i recently got my long hair all chopped off and wished i had done it years ago. i had an idea of how long i wanted it but the best thing about my haircut is i went to a good experienced hairdresser, and we discussed my hair, my crowns, my face shape, length of neck, length of hairline, how my hair behaves after a nights sleep, what i don't like about other hair cuts i have had etc and she was able to style my hair according to all its attributes and i LOVE the outcome. in fact i have had it recut shorter since as it is easier to manage than my long hair ever was and i feel much more me.
having had the same hair length and style for so long was bad as i have gotten older and changed but my hair hadn't.
good luck with whatever you choose to do.
dusty
definitely chop it. shorter hair is so much sexier, easier and more stylish. i read in vogue that no woman over 28 years old should have hair too much longer than their shoulders...and vogue is the fashion bible!
Sarah, I agonized for months whether to have my waist long hair chopped off too (you might remember my first avatar had really long hair LOL). I even had nightmares about getting it cut short. However I took the plunge and did it (to just above shoulder). I don't regret it at all. Like some previous posters have suggested; if you wear it in a ponytail then make sure the style you get can be pulled back too. You'll feel great in summer with shorter hair as well. I'm finding that mine is growing back really fast... does yours usually grow fast or slow?
Usually very very slow growing Bath, except for during pregnancy when it goes just nuts! You've all convinced me to do it. Now to find out how much it's going to cost me then book it in.

I read the subject line of this post (within the Today's Posts section and therefore didn't get the context) and thought immediately that you were going to send Aaron off to get 'fixed'. I thought, she's one ruthless lady our Sarah, two kids and his job is done!![]()

Oooh too exciting Sarah!!
Make sure you take before and after pics!
Ooooh I'm kinda nervous for you now! Is your hair naturally straight? (mine straightened with the weight of the length) When I had mine cut the bounce certainly came back. Hopefully you will notice the difference in the health of your hair within a few months. Maybe read up on what nutrients hair needs to grow.
Hahahaha! Rols that's classic!!
Yep Bath it's straight & when I had it cut shorter the last time it was relatively straight then too, so not likely to bounce up toooo much.
