It may only work for me because I've added the corn flour... hmmmm

    Will think more about it...

    Maybe.....thanks Christy

BTW, how long and on what will you cook your beef/red wine for? I bought some beef just today and was wondering what to do with it so I'm gonna give your recipe a try this week

    Hello,

I hope someone can help me. Do you think it is necessary to pre-cook meat? I want to try Lucy's crock pot lemon garlic chicken and the recipe says to fry the chicken breasts. I don't really have the time to do it and would rather put the chicken in the SC raw to save time. What do you think? Also, the recipe says to cook in SC for 3 hours on high or 6 on low. How would I adjust that if I don't fry the chicken in advance???

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Every slow cooker meal I've ever cooked has been done with raw meat. I'm too lazy and for me it just creates more to wash up! *L* Sausage casserole can even be done with frozen sausages...cutting them up while their frozen is so much easier!

I should actually correct myself and say that there is actually one dish I always pre-cook the meat for and that's the Guinness Beef one. Considering you have to carmelise the onions and cook-off the guinness I figure what the heck and brown the meat in the same frying pan once the first two parts are done.

I put my beef & red wine in this morning... I stagger it & just basically put the base in first and then over the next few hours I add the rest. So it was all in there at 9.30am and I think I'll turn it off around 4.30pm when Jovie has her dinner, we'll eat around 5pm.

I just checked it, and the potatos are JUST cooked and they were the last thing I added at 9.30am.

It's under 'RECIPES FROM CHATTER THREAD #3 (POST #3)' section of the slow cooker recipes area and it's called 'Braised Beef in beer - Caddie', so that's probably where the confusion happened because I call it Guinness Beef myself! *LOL* I did try to put the link but when I click it, it tells me there was an error.

Sorry I misesd this thread again!! aww thanks Becstar for thinking of me. Matilda's slept through the night this week and its been wonderful, our 10 month old sleeps through so it was nice for both of them to do it. We found out from an allergist that Matilda has a severe milk allergy and her drinking around a litre a day wasn't good. Since being off milk our house is slowly adjusting & becoming more "normal" whatever that is with children lol.

    I cook it on low

    Shanks / Osso Bucco

    Hi SC experts!

I want to do some shanks / osso bucco but can't do my normal recipe bcos it has red wine and tomatoes in it and to cut a long story short it does REALLY bad things to my DS reflux.

Any ideas sans tomato and red wine?

    Thanks!

OK, for those of you who've been trying to use the links in the SC recipes thread and found them not to work, I realised I made a typo in them when I set them up. So now it is all fixed and by clicking on the link for each one, you will get a new window open up with a single post. Sorry everyone.
