How long did it take you to conceive after a MC & D&C?

Scan went well! There was a wee blob and heart beat which was great! I think I was more shocked by the good news, as I really expected things to be bad. Still bleeding, so know not out of the woods yet, though all looking good so far. Seeing the OB again next week!

I'm new here....I had a m/c in June at 6 wks and only had one cycle before gettting preg again, but then had a missed m/c at 11wks in oct and had d&c. We thought we would stop trying for a bit...but I'm so ready to be a mum.....just not ready to go through a m/c again....I don't know how some people have many and still keep trying....I don't kow if I could handle it emotionally...it just is't fair....

Hi Bliss,

Glad to hear the good news, you are so lucky to fall pg so soon and that the scan and bt's have all been good.

I had an early m/c in Jan 05 at around 6wks, didnt have a D&C cause the doc said I didnt need one. Fell pg during the second cycle after m/c and had yet another early m/c at 9 weeks in April 05. Once again doc didnt want me to have a D&C. After the guy I was with then was told to politely leave, I met another man and we had unprotected sex for years and finally I fell pg in April 2007 only to have yet another early m/c at 11 weeks. The doc didnt want me to have a D&C yet again!

I was referred to a specialist and he got me in to have a D&C asap. I only had very light bleeding after the D&C (even tho this wasnt after a m/c) and af arrived 28 days later as if it was a normal cycle. I had all the tests that they thought was necessary and Im a "normal" woman!!! So anyway, after having that m/c in June 07 I still havent been able to conceive. Im not exactly sure, but I think that my dp has a fertility problem cause he hasnt got any children and the baby I lost to him wouldve been his first child.

I have got my fingers sooooo crossed for you. I know that my biggest fear is going to be another m/c when i get my next BFP.

I am sad to hear your story as i wonder in the back of my mind how I will be if I MC this pregnancy. I have no doubt that all that it would be very emotional and I wonder how I will cope. I think I would def take a week off work and go to a health retreat for my body mind and soul.
Given I am only at 7 weeks tomorrow I know that I still have at least 5 weeks to go which sounds and feels like an eternity. I am nervous.
I guess people keep trying out of hope, and as my OB told me, he is yet to have a patient who has MC and NOT gone on to have a happy and healthy pregnancy. It is great that you can get pregnant and your baby will come. You just have to believe! I gave myself about 2 weeks to griev and then I told myself to move on and that really, there are some worse things that people go through. The same week of my MC I found out that a friend my age (30) just found out she will be TOTALLY blind by her next birthday. At 30! She has an 8 mth son. WOW was that the best medicine to get me to see good in life and get trying again!

Wow Lindy, what a journey.
I am amazed at the strength of all the woman in here and feel blessed to be able to share your stories. It makes my experience seem small to a lot of yours.
I am surprised that you didnt have any D&Cs for the 3 MCs that you had. I have had two since Sept, one as the gyno just wanted to have a look (I had very long cycles) (though I was actually pregnant when he did it!!!!...another long story I posted on here), and one for my MC. I think my OB does a D&C once you are after 6ish/7ish weeks.
I am thrilled that all seems OK and hopefully it is just time before you get pregnant again. Would your partner have a test?

Did you lose twins?
It is nerve racking, though the signs are much better than last time. My last pregnancy was filled with drama, that having heavy bleeding and 48 blood tests, followed by a scan all by 6 weeks didnt seem too crazy compared to last time! : ) I feel MUCH better now that I have seen a heart beat and know everything is the right size. However at the same time I am well aware that I am only at 7 weeks and things can change. I am just hoping that all will be great. Also, the odds are against me having a second MC in a row (though I know many of you have them), so am trying to keep that in mind too.
When will you try again?

Yes..... I had twins.... did my heart skip a beat when i first saw a twins pram..... unfortunately the pram ended up being irrelivant. But yes, I was having twins.

Bliss, that is so sad for your friend...it's so true that someone is always worse off....I was talkng to somone who had 14 m/c before she had her daughter....I' just couldn't go through it that many times.

I wish you the best of luck....we saw our little blobs heatrtbeat at 7 weeks and i was just so glad we had made it past the 6 weeks when it had happened the time before...which made it worse at the next ultrasound when the little blob had shrunk with no heartbeat.... i just hope everthing goes ok for you this time.

We are going to wait a bit longer....but I know what you mean about that 5 weeks going slow cause it's all you can think about...you just want to get to that 'safe' time...when things still go wrong sometimes unfortunatly....when we start trying again i almost don't want to know that im preg...till it is 12 weeks and i can feel that bit safer! No one should have to go through this!

Hi, new year, new beginnings and hopefully new babies for everyone. We too had a missed m/c in october and D&C and this month our first month of ttc - i asked my specialist about the being more fertile bit and she said more to concentrate on being mentally ready - body takes care of itself.

Good luck to us all - I am in 5dpo and feeling very impatient!!

My doctor told us to wait about 3 weeks and then she would give us the green light to start trying again. She told me that your after your first cycle after a D & C you are really fertile. I am so scared that it is going to take forever. I think it is what is stressung me out right now. Anyone have any advice?

all i can say is look after yourself, eat well and try not to stress!
Chances are if you are really stressing it wont happen, try to relax and let nature work for you!
