At such an early stage it is near impossible to identify the embryo - he or she would have been very very tiny - what is passed is called "products of conception" by the medical profession. This rather cold and confronting title is used to cover what is passed after a loss. Usually this early it is a heavier clotier bleed than a period. The clots are caused when the blood flow to the pregnancy ceases and this is why you get the clots. Monitor your loss - expect quite a heavy bleed but soaking pads frequently needs to be asessed at a hospital. Use analgesics - mersyndol is often good, heat packs.
