Exclamation Help? high estrogen normal progesterone

    Hi everyone!

    I need a little info.

My Dr phoned with the blood results to see about why I had 3 early miscarriages. Everything so far was normal except I have high estrogen levels (it should be 80 and it is 200) and normal progesterone levels on a CD3 test.

    Could this cause miscarriage?
She said it would be possible as the ovaries are producing hormones to support baby until the placenta takes over. And the test looks at ovarian reserves.

So what do you all think.

Can I decrease Estrogen with Diet?

    Hi jayney
i dont know if i can be of too much help, but i dont think you can reduce estrogen with diet but i know you can help regulate your hormone levels, there are some good herbs as well but i would see a professional as alot cannot be used in pregnancy. estrogen balancing foods are legumes, soy products (beware Genetic modification though) and a great thing you can add to your cereal is LSA mix (linseed, sunflower and almond). I have no idea what my estrogen was while i was preg. but i know most of the time my estrogen was very high due to PCOS, because the corpus leuteum and cysts produce estrogens and i guess if there is cysts that could cause problems. i had the eptopic preg and when they went in to remove it there was a large cyst on the right tube which they removed at the same time, so i dont know if that was part of the problem. i guess at the end of the day its getting everything within a reasonable balance. Sorry i really havent been much help hopefully someone on here will know a lot more than me. big hugs scooby

sorry jayney just me again just remembered from anatom &physiology that in the 3rd trimester when estrogen levels get very high they overcome progesterone and that is what causes labour to start so maybe thats what happens in mc too. could be worth a google search

Thanks I'll have a peek. I am hoping when we do the blood work (today I hope) it will show normal levels. I am hoping it was just a little blip and not what is happening now.

Thanks, we just take it one day at a time. As DD#1 has been puking for the last 24 hours I have had other things to worry about. I think she is on the mend now so I hope I get to sleep tonight.

Both times I had my estrogen levels tested they were way high so it could well be a reason for m/c but my gyno said that it wouldn't have caused them.

Dr. doesn't seem too concerned about that one test. She said we'll check the beta's that will tell us more. I am off for my 2nd blood test today. Hope to see it doubling nicely. Thanks for checking on me Satya. You have been so full of wisdom in these threads.

    Jayney,

Good luck today with your blood test I have had a similar experience to you in that I have recently had three early m/c's. Ive had all the standard recurrent m/c tests done -all normal but have not specifically had my hormone levels tested

    Sending you
    All the best,
